When two of your best friends play their senior recitals in the same day, you have to celebrate! You both played so beautifully yesterday and I am SO proud to call you both my friend. Congratulations on this step in your lives and good luck in your student teaching! I love you guys! 🤘🏻😘

Real talk, I was having a pretty crappy day. I spent most of it being down on myself for one thing or another, so I did what I needed to do to get out of my funk. I went to the gym, I played a little blues at the end of my practice session, and I sat outside in the gorgeous weather to read my daily devotional. And I'm feeling so much better about the rest of my day. Sometimes this works for me and sometimes it doesn't. My point is it's so important that we all do what works for us in our own time. I've spent plenty of time comparing myself to others and wasting my time on things that don't work for me. My theory is that if I keep doing what's right for me, things will eventually fall into place. ✌🏻☀️

Life Update: It breaks my heart that I will never march in this stadium again. It has been my dream to march in a drum corps since I was about 12 years old. But unfortunately, sometimes life gets in the way and it's out of your control and not all your dreams come true. And while that hurts, my other dreams and plans for my life and this world are far too big and important to let this keep me down for too long. That being said, I am THRILLED to announce that I have accepted a position as the Education Project Management Intern at Drum Corps International this summer. This is a huge opportunity for me and I am so excited! I will be spending my summer planning and running DCI's nonprofit middle school honor band initiatives across the country. When one door closes, another one opens. I have worked so hard for this and I can't wait to get my hands dirty in the field of education! Tonight, I watched the Honor Orchestra of America and the Honor Jazz Band of America give their concerts at the Music For All National Festival! I was absolutely blown away by the level of musicianship and professionalism out of these two groups. The artistry was stunning! What a truly incredible group of kids. #MFAFest17 (at Butler University)
