Oricon isn’t a deciding factor of what makes artists successful and I agree Perfume is doing really well (especially with the points you mentioned)It’s more of the fact that the groups in question/that whole entire business practice behind it is what annoys me. The companies behind idol groups are truly exploiting the fans through those editions. I mean yeah I really would buy/consider all versions of a Perfume release (Kashiyuka ver, Nocchi ver, Achan ver, Group ver, etc) but it’s just a bitter reality that such a business practice is so effective. With idol groups making so much bank, it eventually leads to a skewed perspective of the Japanese Music Industry as a whole. Like, is this group really that popular or is it the dedication* of the fans that make them seem popular? I use the term dedication loosely when it comes to buying merch because that’s a whole other complicated topic lol.I was about to type more paragraphs but it’s pretty late rn and I’d prob make myself sound dumber. Maybe I’ll save it for later idk
