Connor reached out to Matvei when Matvei’s dad died and was very kind about it.

At the draft, Connor made it a point to seek Matvei out and sit with him in a room of hundreds. They talked about the other prospects and exchanged numbers.

Connor’s parents also made a point to talk to Matvei and told him he would always be welcome to stay with them if he was ever in Vancouver.
