Awe thank you so much!! Actually, the thing i would suggest to all beginners is to master those basic shapes. If you can make a good sphere you can manipulate it to make a lot of different things! After all, everything can be broken up into shapes. A cat face is really just a couple spheres and triangles!
Another random tip i suggest that i wish i knew when i started, yarn is a great not often mentioned tool! When you start out with the base beneath your sculpture, my least favorite part was getting it firm enough to actually work with. The ball often comes undone really easy and stays loose until you work with it for a while. I hated that part. So what i do for everything is tightly wrap a ball of core wool with yarn and there you have instantly packed wool pretty much ready to felt with!
