Come in the form of milk (2021-2022)

The idea of the project called “Come in the form of milk” is to reinterpret the memorial to the victims of Nazism at the 9th Fort in a visual language, with emotional rather than logical associations. To capture the genius loci and to remind us of human resilience: psychological, emotional, physical, and in the form of community. The iconology was taken directly from the supreme part of the memorial which symbolizes liberation.

カリン・ピサリコヴァ展「Still Life」（7/1~28、チェコセンター）      

今回の展覧会ではチェコ出身の芸術家であり、学芸員でもあるカリン・ピサリ コヴァ氏の新しいプロジェクトをご覧いただきます。ピサリコヴァ氏は今年で来日８年めを迎える創作芸術家でもあります。 彼女は作品において、日常生活に入り混じる自然の中で生きる人間について、超存在的な疑問を投げかけてきました。日常生活のシーンを題材にした作品は可視 化された俳句のような効果をもたらしてくれます。作品を前にした者は、自分自身の独自な解釈や自分の中で沸き起こる物語作品へと誘われることでしょう。ピ サリコヴァー氏は最近の作品の中で、「自然の一部としての人間」というテーマをしばしば取り上げてきました。

Still life

Výstava představuje nový projekt české umělkyně a kurátorky Karin Písaříkové, žijící a tvořící již osmým rokem v Japonsku.

Písaříková se ve své tvorbě zamýšlí nad existenciálními otázkami lidského bytí na příhodách z běžného života. Každodenní scény jsou elevovány na vizuální haiku, které návštěvníka zvou k vlastní interpretaci a tvorbě osobního příběhu.

V posledních letech se častým tématem stal člověk, jako součást přírody.

Japonská pokora a senzitivita k silám přírody Písaříkovou ohromila a nepřestává ji fascinovat ani po osmiletém pobytu v této krásné a divuplné zemi.

Běžné zážitky se díky geografickému i kulturnímu posunu stávají magickými a taková pro ni byla i návštěva lesa soch - Osawa sekibutsu no mori, asi čtyřicet minut vzdáleného od města Toyamy. Návštěvníka nenapadne nic jiného, než pomyslet na zkamenělý les postav.

Asi osm set soch v životní velikosti shlíží do údolí řeky Džindzu. Pět set vyobrazení budhových následníků, tzv. Rakkan je doplněno o další stovky občanů v civilním oblečení osmdesátých let. Snad přátel a příbuzných Mutsuo Furukawy, který dal sochy na svůj soukromý pozemek umístit.

Tyto nehybné a neměnné postavy umístěné do půlkruhu ve stupňovitém terénu jsou ale postupně pohlcovány dravou přírodou bující kolem. Chaos začíná převládat nad úpravou, který se člověk snažil místu vtisknout.

Ve fotografiích jsou symbolicky použity lidské vlasy. Svým neustálým růstem odkazují na naše sepjetí se zvířenou i vegetací a stejně jako u divočiny, jsou vnímány jako něco, co je třeba zkrotit. Ze zkušenosti však víme, že tam, kde vládne neměnný řád, chybí i život. Dočteme se to i v pohádkách, kde touha po omlazení a zakonzervování stavu věcí přivedla mnohé do záhuby. Písaříková však vnímá budoucnost optimisticky a název „Still life“ je hrou slov, při které lze i v nehybném zátiší nalézt známky života.

Karin Pisarikova’s  solo exhibition

Vision's Gallery, Tokyo, 16 - 28th May 2016

“Putting a façade over concrete floor, they reformed our apartment lately. Dark walnut screams 2016, while white oak looks, oh so dated….” My long-term project is concerned with our place in the world. Previously, I positioned the human body into the nature – longing to escape but eternally connected to mother earth. Yet we still try to control and conquer nature, sometimes by covering it and painting over a prettier image. It had me wondering – will our children know the difference between what is genuine and what is an imitation – or is the imitation already part of hyperreality? Where is the „honne“ behind this „tatemae“ – The juxtaposition of natural and artificial, living together. But in great harmony? How much is the human body still the wild, organic part? There is a great respects and emphasis on things natural in Japan. Nature is praised for its calming effect and maybe because of that, we will find wooden railing, flooring, faux wooden furniture, appliances, phone covers, steam diffusers, cushions, fireplaces with fake burning wood and even shower curtains, all come in wood plank design, but no one expects to catch a splinter. Exhibition „Mokuteki“ is inquiring into fiction and reality, using the mimircy of flooring, to blend the human body in a concrete apartement block.

“コンクリートの床の表面を覆う、その素材で、最近、私たちのアパートがリフォームされた。ダーク・ウォールナッツ調の2016年版、全体が白いオーク調のものも、ああ、なんて時代遅れな感じだろう…”

私のこの長期にわたるプロジェクトは、世界の中での私たちの居場所と関係している。おそらく、私は人間の身体を、逃れることを切望しつつも自然の中 に位置づけている。しかしそれは、永遠に母なる大地に繋がっている。私たちは未だ、自然をコントロールしたり制服しようとしているが、時に、もっと素敵な 印象をそこに覆い被せたり、それを塗り替えたりする。それは、私に疑問を抱かせた。はたして子供達には、何が本物で何が造り物なのかの違いがわかるだろう か？このような造り物はすでにハイパーリアリズムの一部になっているのだろうか？“建前”のうしろにある“本音”はどこにあるのだろう？自然物と人工物の 寄せ集めで、いっしょに共存している。しかし、それはすばらしい調和なのだろうか？人間の身体にも、どの程度の野生が宿り、本当に有機的な部分と言えるの だろうか？

日本には、大いなる自然への畏敬の念と尊重がある。自然はその癒しの効果を賞賛され、そのために私たちはよく目にするはずだ。木製の手すりや床、偽 物の木製の家具や、電気製品、電話のカバー、加湿器、クッション、偽物の薪のくべてある暖炉やシャワーカーテンにまでも、木目調のデザインが施されている が、だれも棘が刺さるとは思っていない。

展覧会“もくてき”では、フィクションと現実とに疑問を投げかけ、床のフローリングの擬態をまねて、人間の身体をアパートのコンクリートの固まりに融合させた作品を制作した。

Karin Pisarikova – “Going home” Toki Art Space 1.26. - 2.1. 2015

Going home is part of the series of exhibitions concerned with the topic home, synonymous with body and origin of being. I am concerned about our destiny and unity with nature, as opposed to the Cartesian split of matter and mind. There are invisible ties that anchor us into the matrix of world, yet they are revealed only in border situations.

今回のGoing Homeは、身体と存在の起源としての"home"をテーマとする展覧会のシリーズである。デカルトは精神と物質の分離を唱えたが、ピサリコヴァは自然と の調和、人々の運命に関心を抱く。同展覧会は、ある境界線に差しかかったときにのみ明らかになる、世界の母体と人を繋ぎ止める不可視の絆についての提示で ある。

České centrum Tokio spolupracuje na výstavě Karin Písaříkové "Going home" , která je součástí série výstav s tématem domova, v tomto případě synonymem pro tělo a původ života. Autorka-absolventka brněnské Fakulty Výtvarných Umění a v současnosti studentka posledního ročníku doktorandského studia na Tama Art University v Tokiu se ve své praxi pohybuje napříč médii, centrální téma je člověk a jeho psychická i fyzická stránka. 「マリボルドールズ」はマネキンとショップ店員が場所と服を入れ替えるプロジェクトである。

作品からは見られないが、お店で働く人とコミュニケーションをとることが一番重要であった。

服と役目の入れ替わりは、二人の関係をも実際に照り合わした。

このプロジェクトは、スロベニアに滞在中に「GuestRoomMaribor 2013」の一環として制作した。

Maribor Dolls is a project during which mannequins and shop assistants swap places and clothes.

The interaction, with people working in the shops, was probably the most important, although invisible 

part of the work. 

The change of roles and clothes, along with the connection between the pairs, is putting reality to the test.

The project was developed during an Artist Residency program at GuestRoomMaribor 2013.

「泉」

泉は命の源泉であり、伝説の一部であり、尊ばれる場であります。つまり自然の驚異のひとつです。私と自然との関わりはつねに無意識的なものでした。あざやかな木の葉や四季の移り変りを見てたのしむとはいえ、おおかたは暖かなリヴィング・ルームからそれらを眺めるという程度です。私は自分を”シティーガール”と思いたいせいか、日本ですぐに見つけたアパートも、虫のいない見晴（みは）らしのよい高層ビルの８階でした。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　

それでも３年ほど前から、それまで自然を傍観するだけだった私が、自然にとけこむようになったのです。

理由としては、日本にいて、自然への感受性（かんじゅせい）が高まり、自然を観察（かんさつ）し学（まな）ぶ機会があったからかもしれません。もう一つは、私が自然の要請（ようせい）である生殖（せいしょく　出産）に応じたということがあります。

自然は私のところにやってきて、私を捉えて、逃げ道をふさぎました。わが肉体に自然が及ぼす力は衝撃的なものでした。

と同時に、自然の力との折りあいは、作品のインスピレーションにもなりました。たとえば噴水。泉のなかに身を隠（かく）す、〈噴水〉というテーマは美術史にも登場します。「快楽の園」（ヒエロニムス・ボス）、「若返りの泉」（ルーカス・クラナッハ）、そして最近では「泉としての自画像」（ブルース・ノーマン）や聖像ともいえる「泉」（マルセル・デュシャン）がそうです。これら作品はわたしにとってインスピレーションのみなもとでもあります。

シンプルなヴィデオ映像「泉」に注ぐ私の視点は、トーテムとか構造物ような祭壇画（さいだんが　祭壇画わきのたな）のなかに隠されています。

この作品は源を探求する、私たちの最初の家を探求する、という意味で−−もっと抽象的にいえば、よりすぐれた原理を探求するという意味で、私が自然と身体の関係に興味をもち続けていることを示す習作的なものなのです。

この作品は形態としては、ぼかされた窓、ヴェールに覆われた窓に映し出されるものです。窓は、あらゆることは明らかにすることはできないということを表しています。真実がいくら強烈になっても、それはフィルターを通してのみ感知されます。

Fountain 

A spring is a source of life, part of legends and a venerated place.

In short - one of nature's wonders. My relation to nature has always been reserved. I enjoy watching the colorful leaves and change of seasons ....the most from a warm living room. I like to think of myself as a 'city girl', and even in Japan, I swiftly found a apartment on the eight floor of a high rise building, where the view is nice, but the bugs are not to close.

However since 3 years ago, I am slowly coming to terms of being part of nature, rather than a distant observer.

One reason might be the higher sensibility to nature in Japan, that I got to observe and learn from. Another reason is, that I got to fulfill one of nature's imperatives - procreate.

Nature came to me, penetrated me and left no way to escape. I was shocked to observe how it demonstrated itself through my body.

Coming to terms with the force of nature is also the inspiration of my work - Fountain.

Confined into a fountain, the theme of a spring appears through the art history 'The Garden of Earthly Delights'  by Hieronymus Bosch, 'The Fountain of Youth' by Lucas Cranach the Elder, or among more recent works 'Self Portrait as a Fountain' by Bruce Nauman and iconic 'Fountain' by Marcel Duchamp. These works were also my catalysts.

My outlook on a Fountain, a simple video projection, is confined into a totem or altarpiece like structure.

It is a study in line with my ongoing interest in the relation between nature and our body in a sense of searching for origin, for our first home. Or more abstractly - searching for a higher principle.

This is formally projected into windows that are obscured, or openings that are shrouded.

ˇKitchen Windowˇ  / 「キッチンウィンドウ」

Installation 2013

Kitchenー, bathroomー and other windows in Japan are often covered with semi transparent glass, therefore the outlines of objects inside are sometimes visible to the outsiders.

This peek into the private space is very tantalizing and passing by in the evening I can imagine the rooms behind these windows and the families living there.

- One aspect of this work is cultural - as a foreigner, I would like to penetrate not just the windows, but local culture as well. I like to think, that there is a parallel between the soft light and shadows of things inside and the way Japanese language carefully shrouds words. 

- Second aspect is carnal - we might imagine kitchen as the heart (insides) of a house. That is a place, where everyone meets and the body gets nourished. Looking into other' s peoples kitchen is a natural desire and the half visible contents remind me of a ultrasound.

If we imagine a pregnant stomach as a home for a new person, we are also peaking inside with gusto, not just for medical reasons, but eager to penetrate the secrets of what lies within.

「キッチンウィンドウ」（台所の窓）

日本で台所や浴室、そして他の窓は、頻繁に 半透明なガラスで覆われています。それゆえにその室内にいる人や物の輪郭は、かすかに屋外からも見えることとなります。

このプライベートな空間を覗き見ることは、その窓を垣間見たくなるような気持ちを引き起こすものであり、夕方にその前を通ると、私はこれらの窓に隠れた部屋や、そこに住む家族を想像します。

- 一つの側面は、外国人にとって文化的であるということであり、窓というシンボル

を通して日本という文化までをも吸収したいと思います。

柔らかな光と内側の影の間にはパラレルなものがあり、たとえば、日本の言葉遣いにも、これと似た性質があると考えています。

-  第二の側面は、「身体とのつながり」についてです -– 私たちは家の中心(内部)として台所を想像するかもしれま せん。それは皆が出会い誰 、体が栄養を取得する場所です。

他の人々の台所を 見ることは 自然な欲求であり、それはまるで出産前に超音波検査でおなかの中のあかちゃんを見ることを思い起こさせます 。

もし我々が妊婦のおなかを 新たな人のための家として 想像するならば 、それを外側から眺めることに喜びを感じるものです。

'Rat race' was born as I watched my university mates during the period of job hunting. 

In Japan, there is a period for new graduates to seek employment (in early spring) and the 'hunt' usualy starts more than a year before graduation. There are various (unwritten) rules on how your application and your persona should look like. That includes coloring their hair back to black, donning a corporate suit, having a professional portrait taken, writing your application by hand using the best kanji's possible and generally not sticking out. Students who send out dozens of application sometimes don't receive even one positive reply. The whole process is a  daunting task for Japanese and nearly impossible for a foreigner like me.

This resulted in a performance done during the exhibition Adventures of practice 18.2.-3.3.2012 at Chateau Koganei in Tokyo. AIRPLANE’s Bushwick space and a satellite space in Studio B104 of 3331 Arts Chiyoda, Tokyo will host the exhibition, which will unfold and develop over three days. 

In an experimental format, artists in each country will be invited to transmit their work abroad, creating a conduit between the two art spaces and art communities, and to cultivate connection, 

improvisation and accumulation. Initially, pre-selected work will be transmitted, printed/projected and the exhibition will develop over the course of the weekend. Proposals will be considered up to and during the exhibition.

AIRPLANE is an artist-run gallery in Brooklyn that opened in the Fall of 2011.

    Pod tímto názvem se skrývá pell mell videjí s Japonskem spojených, ale ne jím definovaných. Zastoupeni jsou Japonci žijící a tvořící v Evropě a USA, evropští autoři v Japonsku, performeři kteří své akce zachycují pomocí videa i díla přímo pro toto médium. Příkladem může být Chunrong Chi, příslušník korejské minority v Číně, studující v Japonsku, který ve videu Guest vyvolává v divákovi nejrůznější emoce propojených na konci čínským kotlíkem na jídlo.

Hollyhome

The work is in line with my previous projects, that is reflection on life experiences that I use as a source of inspiration.

Here I reflect my experience from the past two years that I　went through - that is motherhood - the alchemy and the equilibrium of male and female side that is needed to create an imprint of new life . I wanted to recreate the tension between outside appearance and inside happening and process that is hidden to us.

Theme: Apollo and Daphne

In Greek mythology nymph Daphne was running away from unwanted advances of

god Apollo. Upon attaining her, she desperately cried to her father, the river god, who transformed her into a Laurel tree so Apollo could never possess her.

Visually inspired by this myth, I long to do the opposite, to escape from the nature

I feel the heaviness and that my mind is ruled by my corporeality and these two are inseparable. Being forever entrapped in my body being the measure of all things. 

ギリシア神話のなかで、神様のアポロンは好きなニンフ、 ダフネーを追いかけ、ついにアポロンは河のそばまでダフネーを追いつめましたが、ダフ ネーはアポロンの求愛から逃れるために、河の神である父に自らの身を変える事を強く望 みました。

その望みを聞き届けた父は、ダフネーの体を植物(月桂樹) に変えました。

私はこの神話にヴィジュアルなインスピレーションを得て、自然から文明への逃避を逆方 向にしようと考え、私の身体の物質性 から概念の世界へと逃れるようにしました。
