baji x reader
description: maybe baji doesn't like the idea of anyone else making you laugh.
the afternoon sun hung low over the toman meeting spot, casting long shadows across the empty parking lot. most of the members has already left, their motorcycles echoing into the distance.
you stayed behind, leaning against the metal railing while laughing at something one of the toman members said.
"seriously, you should've seen his face!" he continued, grinning.
you covered your mouth, laughing. "no way. baji actually did that?"
a sharp voice cut through the conversation.
your laughter immediately faded.
standing a few feet away was baji, dark hair messy as always, his uniform jacket hanging loosely over his shoulders. his sharp eyes were fixed on the guy standing next to you.
the other member awkwardly scratched the back of his neck.
"uh... i should probably go."
before you could respond, he quickly walked off, leaving you alone with baji.
you crossed your arms, raising an eyebrow.
baji scoffed, looking away. "nothing."
"you literally scared him off."
he shoved his hands into his pockets, kicking a small rock across pavement. for someone known for picking fights without hesitation, he suddenly looked... irritated.
and maybe a little embarrassed.
"you seemed like you were having fun," he muttered.
"you were laughing a lot."
you stared at him for a moment before realization hit you.
a slow grin spread across your face.
"what?" baji snapped immediately. "no."
baji groaned, dragging a hand down his face.
"why would i be jealous of that idiot?"
you stepped closer, tilting your head.
"because maybe you like me."
for a second, baji looked completely frozen.
then his ears turned slightly red.
before you could tease him further, baji suddenly grabbed your wrist and pulled you closer. you stumbled slightly, landing in front of him.
his grip was firm but careful.
"you wanna know why i didn't like it?" he said quietly.
baji leaned down slightly, his voice low.
"because i don't like seeing someone else make you laugh like that."
your face warmed instantly.
he sighed, clearly frustrated with himself.
"look, i'm not good at this kind of stuff," he muttered. "but if some guy thinks he can flirt with you right in front of me—"
you cut him off by laughing softly.
"...why are you laughing?"
"because you're jealous."
"you basically admitted it."
you gently took his hand, squeezing it.
"if it makes you feel better," you said, smiling, "i only laugh like that around you."
"you're the one i like, idiot."
for once, first division captain looked completely speechless.
a second later, he turned away, trying to hide the smile tugging at his lips.
"...you better not say that to anyone else."
"because," baji muttered, squeezing your hand tighter, "that's my job."
