In the beginning Gabe was a happy child. He was living with his loving parents in a cosy house that had been part of the family for generations, but happiness isn't forever. When he was three years old his parents went missing, leaving little Gabe alone in the world. The only person that was willing to take him in was a friend of his mother, a witch that lived in The Hollowed Forest and owned a little apothecary. The witch was very caring for Gabe, trying to give the boy a normal life for a human - hoping he would grow up and leave the town the first chance he got. The two of them got on like a house on fire, with his ability he was able to help out the kind witch and she appreciated the help, giving the boy a job at her apothecary and taking him on long hikes to find ingredients. Gabe didn't know any other way of living and so to him, his life was perfect. He had a guardian that cared deeply for him and he had a purpose in life, what more could you ask for? He started to take on more responsibility, going to collect ingredients by himself, even helping out customers in the store by answering their questions and helping them find the things they needed. There was only one thing he wanted more than anything. He wanted to be able to make his own potions. The feeling of jealousy he got when meeting a witch and helping them at the store was growing every day, he wanted to badly to be them. The magic that was all around him was teasing him, all he wanted was to harness that magic and the constant reminder that he wasn't able to felt cruel. It was like a sick joke was being played on the boy.
Like all teenagers, Gabe grew angsty and bitter about the fact he couldn't do the one thing he so badly wanted to do. It was the only thing about his life that he hated and wanted to change but couldn't. His guardian and mentor could sense the resentment in him and tried their best to steer him away from the alchemy, but it was his passion and it was all he had been focused on for most of his life, so he fought back. Gabe did everything he could to try and fight the jealousy, he took up hobbies and tried to find the joy in being human. A search that he believes won't ever end. At the age of 26, in a twist of fate, his guardian went missing. Gabe had been busy with his band and wasn't able to go out for ingredients with the witch, causing the witch to venture out on their own. The guilt Gabe felt was nothing compared to the unrelenting pressure and stress he felt when he discovered he had to look after the shop while the witch that he grew to see as a parental figure had vanished. The knot in his stomach twisted tighter every time he tried to tell someone that the witch had gone missing. The human grew terrified that he was now a free target for the predators of the town now that he no longer had the witch to protect him. Even after a year, Gabe hadn't told a soul that he had no idea where the witch went. He silently took over the apothecary, giving different excuses as to where the witch was time and time again. The male feels in over his head, trying to run an apothecary at his age, have an active social life and keep up with the lie that the witch is still around.

Gabe can sense all types of magic. It's not something he can see, smell or taste. More like something he can feel when looking or touching something magical. His powers are especially useful when working alongside witches who are making potions, or when working with hunters to find the right kind of beast. Since he has had this power since birth it is easy for him to distinguish between different types of magic and magical beings.
