Had a debate with another friend who plays Sims about this:
Do you prefer Sims CC that is default replacement?
Yes!
No, I prefer CC that adds to and does not replace Maxis defaults.
I am staunchly in the camp of wanting CC that does NOT replace Maxis defaults. I like having the option to have both (one example comes to mind is Sims 2 CAS stuff like eyes and hair).
But I have a friend who likes when CC replaces defaults. I feel like I see a lot of CC these days that are only offered as default replacements and that kinds bums me out.
So I was curious to know if it's actually more popular with Sims fans to have default replacements! Maybe I'm an outlier here!
I almost never use default replacements, because I use some stuff that's repo'ed to game textures. Replacements can mess that up.
The only default clothing replacements I can think of that I use are my private school uniforms, because they're not gendered.
Keep in mind that the Sims Mod Manager that's floating around is made with Claude AI. Do with that info what you will. I certainly wouldn't use it to mess with my game files, and I'm definitely not going to be publishing anything on their creator platform.
Sim Tracker 2.0 was also made with ai, if anyone is using that or thinking of using it.

Make hair and clothing default replacements without wrestling SimPE.
I've always loved making default replacements, but the actual work in SimPE was... well... annoying. So I went looking for a better way to do it, and when I couldn't find one that clicked, I started building my own. 🛠️
This is very much a personal project. I'm sharing it because this community is far smarter than I am when it comes to custom content and default replacements, and I'd rather build this out in the open with your help than pretend I've got it all figured out. So please, let me know about any and all issues you run into.

I know working on CC will help my mental health...but my mental health is making it really hard to work on CC today. 🙃
It took me three hours to open my laptop. I opened it 10 minutes ago. All I've done on it is this post.
When it comes to actually making a new mesh, WOW am I rusty. Damn. Use it or lose it gets truer the older you get.
Movement nudge, hand mobility! 🙌

If you're simming a lot or making CC, stretch your hands routinely.
Had what was probably a mild migraine earlier today, so I stayed home from work. Got a bit more progress on the Simblreen WIP, but I'm back in bed again. Mild migraines still have postdromes.
Working on CC has me wanting to post a new download, so I might convert this sofa set I was eyeing. Surely what seems like a quick, easy project won't turn into some kind of monstrous sidetracking rabbithole. That neeeeeever happens to me. Ever.
I'm managing 45-90 minutes of CC work per night so far this week, after I get home. It feels really good to be doing this again.

The Tattooer thing I'm doing is kinda working. Yay! I'm probably still gonna do the top part the regular old way, and I'll probably poke at it for a while still, but I'm pleased with my tiny bits of progress.
13 weeks until Halloween, so probably more like 12 until Simblreen. Eeep. But I have officially begun preparing.
Because I can't resist posting WIP's....clicky.

I'll be doing some Simblreen specific recolors.

Sure, I haven't really done any real amount of CC work in a couple of months, I've been tired all day, and it's 1:30am. Perfect time to learn something new, right? Right?
It's...going. I'm probably gonna save and keep working on it later. It involves this tutorial by DeeDee. I somehow wound up wanting to convert a dress that has a sheer section.
Now I've gone to bed, but I think I'm gonna maybe only use the Tattooer for the waist of the dress. Hmm. Reblogging mostly to remind myself of this idea.
...and the transparent part of the dress is part of the skirt. Erg.

I've had a lot of time to think about Simblreen, but haven't actually started anything yet.
So far, I'm leaning toward doing...
Oh!! I just had an idea. Or I smashed two ideas together.
If I can learn to make tattoo boxes, I could do one of "base layers" like TS4 recently added. For Simblreen, this could be stuff like fishnet leggings, mesh sleeves, etc. Hmm.
