This week’s painting - Birch Trees in Autumn.

I can’t take credit for the composition this time. I found a painting on the web that looked like this and decided to try and copy it because I liked it’s colors and the feeling of depth in the piece. I want to work on having more depth in my paintings so I thought this would be good practice without being overwhelming.

Clearly the shadows aren’t aligned perfectly and the shadow on the bark could be a little more blue, but I think it was still a good practice. I think it could have benefited from a little more pre-planning… like plotting out where the shadows will fall so they all have the correct angle.
