Absolutely yanked the idea off from a piece I saw of @khairosclerosis , the concept is theirs. I was just thinking abt how Miles grew up in an abusive household, feeling unwanted while he was sent letters, being pursued from afar. Because it probably made him fantasize of being saved from the hell that he was in which turned into him craving to be wanted so bad while still seeing himself unworthy of it. For this to cause him doing nothing to change because he wanted to be loved in his most disgusting form, to be loved no matter what, if he ever was; realizing eventually that it's not how things work, this making him start to live for himself while he soul-searches after the suicide letter. In all, headcanoning him like this just makes Phoenix's white-knighting even more fucked up to me and I like it, they work out in the most disgusting way possible in my head Imao. It also adds to the reason why I'm preaching Miles doing mental health progress on his own rather than Phoenix causing him to "open his eyes"
