I've been saying this, that Kaisei is going to use this performance to find himself. People have brought up the irony of Kaisei telling Akane the stage isn't a place for soul-searching (I dont remember the chapter someone help meee!!!) when he's doing that himself right here. Maybe he's not actually finding himself on stage, instead he's using this performance to show the results of his exploration.

I think Kaisei wasn't ready to do that quite yet when he told Akane that. However, this breakthrough that he's only been living up to the expectations of others and not for himself really flipped a switch in him.

"That's why you pushed me away," Kaisei says to Issho in his mind. I think Issho saw too much of himself in Kaisei during his Shinuchi promotion test and that's why he ruined it for Kaisei. In the past, I imagine Kisoba's thoughts for his master and Kaisei's thoughts for Issho were similar if not the same. They both want to live up to their masters' expectations, but the way they're achieving it doesn't align with the way master wants. Maybe it wasn't until the old Shiguma's death that Kisoba snapped out of it and truly found his art.

I guess Issho wants to push Kaisei towards his goal earlier, by what, being an unlikeable old man? I completely agree with Kaisei when he said Issho could've used more words. How ironic, that their entire profession is telling story with words (the "go" in "rakugo" literally means word), yet Issho just can't get a grasp on how to use them properly in his own life.

Kaisei is going to fully embody the shinigami in the tail end of the story and kill his past self. Will his past self fight back? Or has he completely given up on his previous goals? Make this a surprise shinuchi test and promote both Akane and Kaisei lol just do it!!!

sometimes I’m reminded that there are still people who don’t know ao3 was literally created by incest shippers — and the site’s sole purpose is to 1. be completely against censorship and 2. host all kinds of dark, taboo fics that are banned on other platforms — and the first ever fic that was posted on ao3 was a fic about an incest ship from supernatural.

you are in the house that was created by freaks. for freaks (affectionate). every disgusting thing you can think of is rightfully allowed and welcomed on ao3, because they are exactly the reasons why ao3 was created in the first place.

ao3 was created because its creators got tired of censorship, they got tired of dark and taboo fics getting banned on pro-censorship platforms, and they wanted a place that was safe for ALL FICS THAT WERE DARK AND TABOO.

ao3’s main principle is being against censorship and being proship / profic.

there are some things in fiction that make me uncomfortable, but instead of shaming people who are just minding their own business and not harming anyone in real life, I choose to curate my own internet experience by blocking/muting what I don’t want to see. ao3 has excellent tagging system, so instead of being a bitch, use their tagging system properly and you won’t see the things you don’t want to see.

it’s your job to curate what you see. it’s not other people’s jobs or responsibilities to censor themselves for your personal comfort. the world does not revolve around you.

also you cannot censor “only the things you personally hate” without expecting everything else, that isn’t of conservative beliefs, to be censored too. because censorship is a slippery slope and a fascist tool. I promise you there are people who think “why do tags for queer love even exist on ao3? they’re grooming children”.

if you allow the things that you hate to be censored — because someone with enough power gets to control what other people can and cannot create/consume, it will not stop at the things that you hate.

If you’re writing fanfic, you’ve gotta study Jorge Luis Borges. Seriously. The guy basically invented the fanfic mindset decades ago. He was obsessed with the idea that no story is truly "original"—everything is just a remix of what came before. Instead of stressing about coming up with something 100% brand new, lean into the fact that you’re playing in a giant, shared sandbox. Your fic is just another volume in the infinite library of human stories, so have fun twisting tropes and mashing up ideas.

Borges is also the king of doing a lot with a little. His stories are often super short but hit you with these massive, brain-melting concepts. You don’t need to write a 300k-word epic to make an impact. Take one tiny, weird detail from your favorite show or book; like that one throwaway line or a random background character, and blow it up into a "what-if" scenario. It’s way more rewarding to explore a niche, specific idea than it is to just rehash the main plot.

Also, don’t be afraid to get weird with the format. Borges loved writing "reviews" of books that didn't exist or fake biographies of people who never lived. As a fanfic writer, you can totally do this! Write your fic as a series of intercepted owl-posts, a collection of cursed textbook footnotes, or even a fake historical archive. Breaking out of the standard "chapter 1, chapter 2" structure makes your writing feel more like an artifact from the world you’re writing about, which is honestly the coolest vibe ever.

For a Harry Potter example: imagine a fic written entirely as a set of inventory logs from a bored, stressed-out clerk in the Department of Mysteries. Instead of a standard "Harry goes to Hogwarts" plot, you’re just reading through descriptions of weird, cataloged items, like "Object 402: A tea set that only pours liquid memories" or "Object 99: A prototype spell that makes time run backward for butterflies." By treating the magic like a mysterious, dusty science, you turn a simple fanfic into a cool, eerie meditation on the secrets of the Wizarding World.

Write whatever you want.

Have fun doing it.

That’s literally it. There is no “show and don’t tell”. There is no “make it realistic”. There is no “fit in with the trends”. And of course, there is no “write as fast as possible to keep up engagement and please others”.

Most fanfiction writers are not professional writers. This isn’t a job, we’re literally writing for shits and giggles. We don’t have a team of editors behind us to make our story perfect. Fanfiction isn’t about creating the most perfect plot with the most perfect prose and the most perfect pacing.

Fanfiction writing is for you first. To make your heart happy. Other people just get the benefit to also enjoy it if they wish.

I also want to read Romance of the Three Kingdoms sometime

Current obsession: People keep complimenting my Kagurabachi fics so I keep writing them lol I have like four on the way. I'm also super into cooking and baking

Currently working on: I have a Kagurabachi big bang fic that I have to keep quiet about and it is EATING ME ALIVE but it'll be so fun to reveal it to my artist eventually. I also have a couple of smaller Kagurabachi event fics in the works that are both due out next month. I am also writing a FushiRuha one shot based on something that moth said on Discord. Outside of that, I have two Akane-bananshi fics in my head that I kind of want to make the same fic but I'm not sure when to set the story exactly. I was thinking during the current arc but given spoilers I'm waffling on that idea, but I might go for it. I am also working on a novel and it is kicking my ass. One idea was Akane and Kaisei are drinking together + what to do if Isshou just like died before Akane gets a revenge that she feels is satisfying enough. It's cooking very slowly

Coffee or tea: I can't drink either so I make honey milk when I need something like that 

Last google duck duck go search: I double checked how to spell Crichton because Criton didn't look right (because it was wrong)
