anyone who uses âchickenâ as an insult has clearly never tried to fight a chicken
CHICKEN COSTUME -You know who
âOh dearâŚâ
She knows exactly who this is.
âNo, not a deer... A chicken.âÂ
She regreted allowing him to remove her hands from her face. The simple red on her cheeks changed to a darker crimson like color at his words. She wanted to hide again, but with him holding her face all she could do was look away shyly. âFirst pretty, and now beautifulâŚ?â She mumbled softly. âYou just enjoying flustering me, donât you..â That last portion was spoken much softer, a small comment part of her hoped he wouldnât hear.Â
His fingers left her hair and went back to her cheeks, stroking everywhere he hadnât examined thoroughly yet. His eyes lit up slightly. Of course he had heard her. He always heard her. âWell⌠maybeâŚâ he admitted, grinning a bit. âBut Iâm really justâŚâ He kissed her nose softly. ââŚbeing honest.âÂ
This was payback from earlier, it had to be. She was flustering him before, and now he was returning the favor. Her eyes closed and her nose scrunched up the tiniest bit as he kissed it. When she finally opened back up, she looked at him sheepishly. âYouâre having fun with this, arenât you?â
He grinned, his fingers pausing in their search for untouched skin on her cheeks. âPossibly,â he replied after a moment, holding both sides of her face loosely and gently kissing her lips. It wasnât quite as soft as her first kiss, but it was as close as he could get.Â
She was going to bashfully complain more until his lips met hers, silencing her before she could speak. The gentleness was unexpected, but it was nice since he had a tendency to be a bit rough normally. She eventually returned the gesture, gently like him, and wrapped her arms about his neck once again.
He turned his head slightly to the side to deepen the kiss, and his fingers soon slipped into her hair, stroking through it lightly. He loved her hair⌠Heck, he loved everything about herâŚÂ
She didnât protest to him deepening thr kiss. In fact, her own head tilted, too, just in the opposite direction. It was odd, since she now had to worry about not bumping his glasses. They hadnât had a moment like this in a while, so she decided to relish in it for a few moments, her arms around his neck holding him closer.
Although he really didnât want to, he eventually pulled away a little bit. A mischievous glint flickered through his eyes. âDo I kiss better with glasses on too?â he whispered, pressing his forehead to hers.Â
That question yielded a small giggle from her as their foreheads met. Her flustered state had essentially vanished at this point, replaced by a certain giddiness that only he could cause her to have. âNo, you kiss about the same. But thatâs because youâre already amazing at it~â
He inhaled extremely dramatically, and rose his face to the ceiling, closing his eyes. âPerhaps Iâm so blinded by my love for you that not even glasses can fix it~âÂ
More giggles began to bubble out from her at his actions. What a dork~ âWell, they do say that love is blind~â she teased lightly. âEither that or you just need new glasses.â
He opened his eyes again and grinned at her. He loved hearing her laugh... It was a much better alternative to his sudden drop of self-esteem earlier. âYeah, both are strong possibilities.â
She regreted allowing him to remove her hands from her face. The simple red on her cheeks changed to a darker crimson like color at his words. Her gaze softened as he spoke, and she held his hand a bit tighter now. âIâm sorry to hear that. But, donât let any of that get to you now, okay? Things are different. No oneâs going to bully you anymore.â She looked away from him for a moment as she thought. âI wonder if theyâll even help you see now..âÂ
He nodded weakly, squeezing her hand back. He knew nobody was going to do that to him anymore⌠But it still hurt. It hurt a lot. âI.. I donât know.. theyâre not that oldâŚâ he murmured, still gazing at her.Â
âReally?â she asked, looking back at him again. Her thumb gently rubbed the back of his hand comfortingly before she spoke again. âThis might be too soon, but⌠do you think you could try them on? Just to see if they still help. If they do, you could just wear them around the house if you like. I wonât make you wear them any where else.â
He took in a small breath. Did he really want to try them on after all this time..? Part of him was scared that Sam would laugh at him. But⌠she would never do that, would she? No⌠of course she wouldnât. How could he even think something like that? âI⌠I guess soâŚâ he finally replied reluctantly.Â
âNo harm in trying, right?â She gave him a reassuring smile before removing herself from him to retrieve his glasses from the beside table. Once she had them, she unfolded them before him, taking a moment to brush away some of his hair that would be in the way before slowly placing the glasses on his face. She let go once they rested firmly on the bridge of his nose. A light pink dusted on her face. He was⌠absolutely adorable.
He watched her take out the glasses, and he tried not to think about all the bad memories that came with them. He only gazed at her. This wasnât like those bad school days. This was Sam. He could trust her. As she put them on his face, he blinked a couple times to get used to his vision changing. He focused back on her again. Why was she staring at himâŚ? Wait⌠was she blushingâŚ? âWha⌠whatâs wrong..?â he stammered, a flicker of panic in his eyes.Â
âO-Ohââ she stammered a bit, realizing that she was staring. Her blush deepened as he seemed to notice it. âNothingâs wrong at all! Really.â She held up her hands in defense, not wanting him to get the wrong idea. âYou actually.. look really good in your glasses,â she admitted, looking away from him shyly. She spoke softer in hopes he might not hear, but knowing him that wasnât happening.
The panic was replaced with confusion. âI⌠I doâŚ?â Nya had always reassured him that he did, but he thought she had just been trying to make him feel better. âYouâre not just⌠saying thatâŚ?â he asked quietly, his own cheeks a bit pink now.Â
She nodded softly at his first question, still not looking at him due to her ever expanding blush. His second question is what made her look up, however. But one of her hands moved to cover her reddening face as she did so. âOf course not~! I would never lie about something like that.â
He stared at her for a moment before realizing something. He could⌠actually see her. Perfectly. âOhâŚâ he suddenly gasped, his eyes widening. âWere you⌠a-always this⌠prettyâŚ?âÂ
Now that didnât help her blush. At all. âW-What??â she asked him, a bit stunned by the question. Now both her hands covered her face, muffling her words. âI havenât changed really, so⌠M-Maybe..?â She personally never thought of herself as pretty, especially with her odd hair color. Why did he have to make her so flustered sometimes?
His eyes still wide, he gently touched her hands and pushed them down from her face. He wanted to see her better. His breath caught in his throat as he brushed his fingers against her cheek. She was so beautiful... Why hadnât he... done this before..? His gaze flickered up to her hair, and he traced his finger through some of it, staring at it like it was the most amazing thing he had ever seen. âYouâre... youâre right...â he whispered, absolutely entranced. âYou were always this beautiful... I just... didnât... see it this clearly before...âÂ
Her gaze softened as he spoke, and she held his hand a bit tighter now. âIâm sorry to hear that. But, donât let any of that get to you now, okay? Things are different.
