Requested: advice on moving on

It’s selfish to want someone to be who you want them to be. People are who they are and once they show you that, you have to either accept it or leave.

I hate investing time into people and walking away, it seems like such a waste. But I’m learning that every soul we have an attachment with, also comes with a bunch of lessons and sometimes when class is over, you have to leave. That doesn’t mean indefinitely, but for some cases, emotionally.

I’m learning to cut myself off emotionally from situations that are never going to change and to just accept people for who they are. There are no qualms and a friendship can still be maintained. However, once you realise that it’s time to remove yourself emotionally from a situation, your expectations disappear, and it becomes easier to let go.

People are going to do what they want to do. Expect nothing and control your emotions.
