haha heehee no way PKJ would traumatize Damian further!! no way another adult figure that sees the good in Damian and wants him to flourish would be killed right before his eyes!! not so soon after Damian just failed a little girl as Robin!! but now an even more brutal loss as a civilian, where these horrors surely wouldn’t reach him!! all while the killer mocks him in rhyme!!

while Damian is being put through the wringer, this is admittedly. incredible events transpiring lol. Damian is being pushed to his emotional limits - shame over his weaknesses, betrayal over his father’s trust in him, guilt over Emma and oh boy now Bashar, and grief too ig!!
as much as i’m weeping over the pain he’s going through, i’m clawing at the walls to see how Damian’s going to process all of this and develop from it. how he’s going to keep moving forward and still fight as Robin?? how this influences his civilian future??
anyway, obsessed with Lucy the macaque casually climbing onto Damian’s shoulder mid conversation lol he’s so used to Alfred doing it (who is still noticeably absent :( he deserves all his buddies giving him a cuddle pile by the end of everything)
I want to say I am a fan of your blog and that i use it to keep updated on what happening on the new issues with Damian, you analyzes are so good and grasp his character and his relationships in a way not many people do, it gives me extremely joy to see you popping up on my fy every time.
I also wanted to ask if you have any fics recommendations? I have been digging around the Damian Wayne-centric tag a lot but haven't found much. It's okay if there's none or you dont do that type of posts, thank you for always posting stuff here and being such a positive person on the fandom!
ahhh happy to help! i tend to ramble with the idea others are reading the comics along with me, so i’ll try to give more context from now on! i do encourage checking out the comics if able, as you could have a whole different perspective from me, and it’s part of the fun in reading together! 🥺
i got another ask looking for fic recommendations, and it’s taking me a while to get around to making a list 😖 i did a specific one for the “Dick is Damian’s brother but also dad but not really” kinda vibe here! for now, you can take a look through the #fic tag on my blog! i’ve admittedly stopped actively looking for fics for over a year now, but i think i should still have plenty. it’s just a matter of organizing them into categories - majority of which are Dick & Damian fics LOL
I wish I could check the comics myself, but they are kinda expensive, besides Batman and Robin are still printing the #2 issue compared to the #17(?) already made, I could try some pirates websites but haven't found one I feel safe using yet...
Take your time! I will definitely take a look at the list, Dick and Damian's relationship is one of my favorites and can never get enough of it, principally early days of their time together, it's so sweet seeing both growing together as persons. Thank you!!

THIS IS GIVING ME SO MUCH MIXED FEELINGS, OH GOTHAM.
(I haven't read the issue or more than just this panels, comics are hard to find around here and my time spare, BUT I do keep myself on the loop by those random panels on this website.)
ANYWAYS, RAMBLING TIME!
The idea of Dsmian of all people quitting vigilantism to become a doctor is beautiful and so poetic, he was born to be a weapon, to destroy in favor of what is believed a better world, to assume a legacy he knew nothing about and was severely misguided, but even then his kindness still bloomed incredibly after given the opportunity, he passed to terrors during his formative years and didn't let it break him, him becoming a doctor to help other people who have passed to their own terrors, TO MAKE SURE THEY TOO SURVIVE IS AMAZING CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IN THE BEST WAY.
Even if he practically spits on Bruce face that he isn't letting anyone die by his mistakes, I believe this comes more from the anger of Bruce being so surprised by what he is doing, not that what he is saying is not true but Damian gives me the impression to hold what is dear to him close and once he shows it to someone and the reaction is 'negative' on a way, he won't share it anymore and pull back from it. Besides the point of he have watched what are the consequences of his mistakes, Alfred literally died on front if him.
Other lovely point of this panels is how he is connecting to the side of his family he never had the opportunity before, and DAMIAN IS PAYING ATTENTION TO IT AND ADHERING IT, he mentions the hospital Thomas talked about, and he wants to do that by himself, he wants to go after what he wants to himself WHAT IS SUCH A GOOD THING WHEN HE HAS RAISED TO BELIEVE HE ALREADY HAD HIS FUTURE PLANNED AND SET.
The raised assassins becomes a doctor, who the blood on his hands are from the people he saved.
(Aside from him doing what Bruce couldn't, this being how he surpasses Bruce, not just as Batman but also as Bruce Wayne.)
But after all that, one part of me also believes Dmaian can't quit vigilantism.
His whole family form both sides are too involved on this to get out, and none of them (besides Tim maybe) have shown interesting in doing it, and as much it pains to admit, I do believe Bruce would cut him off the Batman stuff he if decided to hang the cape. Considering how much of their lives is around the hero work, this would mean losing his family too.
Damian also is raised and trained all his live, dies he even know how to live without it? Can he bear to know he could be doing "more" and not doing it?
So that where my humble opinion comes: Damian cant quit the hero scene, but he becomes who saves the heroes. Do you know all that debacle "the heroes saves everyone but who saves the heroes?" This will be Damian's paper.
With Alfred gone they lost who manages most of the batcave, and a person who is ready to step in to help with anything at all times, specially medical procedures that cant be done by yourself or only one person.
If I remember correctly it was also mentioned in older issues that Damian already have knowledge about medical procedures at point of being able to perform surgeries.
He can continue his vigilant and hero work, assuming a more lay back position, he isn't exactly at the front lines but yes to show support to who needed and attentively to anyone who needs medical attention. The hero who saves other heroes and make sure they dont suffer for doing what is truly good
