Why did i go all the way to a sunflower field just to have a shoot about my hair you ask?..i don't know but it looks great 😄

WHAT I HAVE LEARNT.

1. Never rush your hair conditioning treatment. Detangle carefully and leave in for a maximum time of 45 mins.

2. Don't comb dry hair. It breaks easily

3. Let your hair air dry thoroughly before styling it.

4. Clean scalp result to fast growth.

5. Moisturize atleast once every two days.

I added again aloe Vera juice to my regimen, although it leaves a lot of fibre stuck on my hair but they eventually come off on there own.😑

Recently started applying coconut oil on my scalp, I should say i have never been a fan of applying oil on my scalp expect when I am wearing a protective style i.e braids

DAY OF SHOOT

I had deep conditioned in the morning, let the hair air dry for about an hour (bad idea)

A good twist and bantu knot to protect the ends gives a great curl definition, unfortunatly my hair did not completely dry

Semi dry hair obviously doesnt look great, I definitely love the pictures but my hair did not come out as great as I expected.

I used coconut oil first then raw shea butter to seal in the moisture.

The raw shea butter was bought at Ubarn chic (Sana Complex in Lilongwe)

coconut oil was bought at city Mall super market.

The year that was me chilling, sleeping and more Chilling. Not here to discuss how my 2017 was but to summarise it I would say it was *BITTERSWEET* in bold lol

This new year marks a quarter to my life, and that comes with a lot of stress seeing i thought I had lost my passion for blogging buuut!!... I just got it back, here to *commit fully*, I can say I am here to renew my vows with my hair ☺️.

Just like a relationship😂😉if it’s not working but you are still feeling each other, decide to take a different approach to the situation. Hence my new hair Cut🤗

I lost touch with my roots, I got bored because I was repeating the same old habits that where somewhat damaging to my hair I.e inconsistency in Deep conditioning, scalp massages, protein treatments. (Surprisingly enough my hair was in great condition, half of the time I was in my protective styles)

Maybe I was just bored, let me just settle for that 😀🤷🏾‍♀️

I had been thinking of shaping my hair for a while but could not actually convince myself to do it. I had absolutely no reason to cut it. Then I reminded myself not to put too much value on it after all with a good hair care Regimen my hair will grow back.

Lol I was telling myself this the whole time because I was scared I would look like a new born bird, or just look a hot mess lol I did also tell one of my closest friend’s that I need a wig to hide the mess that turned out to look so satisfying such a *CONFIDENCE BOOSTER*

PRODUCT REVIEW.

Hello darlings. I want to apologize for the silence🙁. Adjusting took longer than I thought but I never neglected my hair regardless.

I want to start with the products that you see above, as you can see I changed the coconut oil that I normally use just to try out this other one.

COCONUT OIL; I got this little jar that looks finished lol . At Tuskys supermarket while I was still in Kenya. The smell is quite yummy unlike the Tropical coconut oil in the bottle. The oil’s texture is quite heavy too, so when sealing in the moisture it was doing a great job. I also used it for Hot oil treatments when my deep conditioner was less and almost about to finish, it left my hair very soft and smelling good for days. I have also been using the oil on my skin. If you happen to have it you can also use it for cooking, that’s how good it is 🤗

CANTU LEAVE IN CONDITIONER; My second time using it, and I must say I waisted a perfectly good jar the first time I bought it because I didn’t know how to use it correctly. Apart from moisturizing and de-tangling my hair the conditioner was acting as a good styling oil too for all my twists and protective styles.

KUZA BLACK CASTOR OIL SHAMPOO; If you look closely it is sulphate free. From what I remember and the research I have done shampoos that have sulphate usually strip the hair strands of their natural oils, leaving the hair feeling brittle and dry. Natural hair already is dry of not taken care of correctly and to add on to the dryness you wouldn’t want to use a shampoo that strips your hair of its oils. This is one of the best shampoos I used so far.

HONEY; I normally add a teaspoon of honey to my daily spritz. It keeps my hair shiny. I love how it looks.

I am still looking for aloe Vera juice in malawi, but for the mean time I planted an aloe Vera plant at my house just in case if I don’t find good quality aloe Vera I will make my own 😊.

WATER; I decided to make it my everyday achieving to drink at least 2 to 2.5 litres of water everyday. This has helped my hair and skin to glow and stay moisturized.

NOTE. These items were bought in Kenya but I have seem them in malawi at Some cosmetics shops at Getway Mall except the coconut oil. I am not really worried about where to buy products now, the only problem I might have is the pricing😣😥

Well, remember the time I hinted a project I did a project with Kenya’s first Natural hair care brand Marini Naturals??

I had the pleasure of using their products for over a month and I should say this review comes from experience. If you have been following my previous post I have been incorporating Marini Naturals in most of my tutorials and I have never been so impressed with the results.  I loved everything about their products from the packaging to how well they smelled (boooyyy.. do they smell amazing, you just want to lick the butter, the conditioner and the gel).

My favorite products that i will DEFINITELY take home with me was the Leave-in-conditioner, the butter and the Gel.

Below are the products I had and I have also decided to give you in detail of what every product does and what is in it.

1.SHAMPOO

a.       A zero-sulphates shampoo

b.      A light shampoo but extremely cleansing.

c.       It is a clarifying and conditioning shampoo

d.      Its extremely mild, conditioning and moisturizing to the hair.  

e.       Leaves hair soft and manageable, has loads of slip  

2. LEAVE-IN DETANGLING CONDITIONER

a. Contains Flax seed gel that literally melts away tangles

b. Leaves hair soft and conditioned after using it.

c. Can be used as a daily moisturizer

d. Smells great! Vanilla extract

note: i used the conditioner directly into when my hair felt a bit too dry, i also tried to mix the leave in conditioner with my daily spritz that has aloe vera juice, coconut oil and a bit of water. it worked a good.

 3. CURLING BUTTER(curl-me-pretty)

a. Extremely moisturizing and softening on hair

b. Has great hold and definition on hair.

c. Smells great! (vanilla and strawberry extract)

d. Zero Crunch and no flakes e. Generous product in the tub that lasts for over a month  

4. CURLING GEL

a. Instant curls…curl magic! This is because of Flax-Seed Gel and FixativePlus

b. Also a detangler due to Flax Seed Gel

c. Natural curl definition is possible due to Flax seed gel

d. Smells of strawberries due to Strawberry Oil J

e. One of the few gels in the market that leaves hair soft, zero crunch and no flaking yet defines curls!

note: the Gel was perfect for my edges

CURL FORMERS ON MY 4C HAIR

For this beautiful look (full head of curls) I did a shoot with the Marini Naturals team, what great experience that was, I met with the Ooh! so beautiful Founder of Marini Naturals, Michelle Mtalami and the lovely Marini General Manager Niya Patel. Such great company, I got to interact with other Kenyan bloggers and Naturalistas and that’s just part of the fun. The stories of that day are endless.

This look was done by one of the best Natural hair stylist in Nairobi (@the_hairdresser254). Not only did he do my hair, he taught me a few things about my own hair aswell, this experience indeed is unforgettable.

Working with Marini Naturals has been and will always be a BIG DEAL for me. I feel so blessed and humbled. Don’t throw away your dreams because somehow they feel impossible because nothing is impossible except knowing when Jesus is coming back.. now that’s impossible..lol

DIY HOMEMADE DEEP CONDITIONING TREATMENT

Do you ever have one of those days your Bank account does not allow you to buy one of your best DC treatment? Yep, i usually have those days now since i am doing weekly deep conditioning treatments. After proper research, talking to a few curl friends and watching tons of youtube videos. I gathered the main ingredients which were; 

1. Egg yolk (1)

2. Avocado (1)

3. Banana (1)

4. Coconut oil (2 table spoons)

5. Honey (2 table spoons)

6. Aloe vera juice ( 2 table spoons)

I cut the banana and the avocado and crushed everything in a bowl and my ooh!! My!!..it smelled amazing I just wanted to eat it.

I had to sieve the paste to remove some big chunks from the banana and avocado (I hear if you don’t the fibers get stuck on your hair and it is so hard to remove and I am not about that life!.. no thank you)

Finally, I applied the all so natural paste on freshly washed hair and covered my hair with a plastic cap for about an hour

As you can see there a bit of small fibers left in my hair, luckily these slipped right off when I was rinsing.

 RESULTS

1.       During my de tangle session in the shower my curls were popping!..:)

2.       After air drying, my hair was shiny

3.       Soft and my hair felt velvety..lol.

NAIROBI WEATHER MADE ME DO IT!

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Darling,

So sorry for not posting last week, i have been extremely busy with “things” lol.. ok i will leave it at just that.

so, according to weather people the temperature has drastically dropped and its getting wet and heavy. So i decided i should protect my hair from these harsh conditions. 

I am wearing semi big twists, used abuja line the long one, number 30. I plan to stay with them for about 2-3 weeks. i have had them for a week now.

HOW I TAKE CARE OF MY TWISTS

1. nightly spritz of water+aloe vera+leave in conditioner+ coconut

2. i spritz my scalp and the braids till where my hair stops.

3. i seal in the moisture on my scalp with coconut oil after every two days. The coconut oil helps to tame dandruff that might start appearing causing itchy scalp due to dryness.

4. For my edges i use Marini Curling gel every morning before i leave the house.

5. i apply castor oil on my edges every night before bed.

heeeeeeeeey!! Darling its another week and i got more goodies, So here is a little story or so a little confession. I think am becoming a product and a protective style junkie, lol ..i don’t even know if that is even there a protective style junkie??? (please tell me) anyhuu.. My hair now is at that stage i feel like i can LITERALLY rock any style  (that’s just me though) but my hair says no. So i have been trying out the styles i have always wanted to do but my baby was still growing so it was quite hard to achieve them, BUUUUUUT! one bright blessed morning before work, i was like lets try that work bun you saw on youtube, fingers crossed it will work and so i decided to try it.

Let me take you through how started out, bare in mind this style is a whoooole lot easier if your hair is longer than mine, also it will look really weird on shorter hair.

STEP ONE

I start off with stretched hair, i achieved the length with flat twists that i did before bed the un did them in the morning.

STEP TWO

Pulled the hair up to a slightly small afro puff.

STEP THREE

Divided the little puff into two sections, pinned the left and Right side at the back, If you look closely i left the middle part. 

STEP FOUR

Pulled the middle part and folded it to the back. and pinned it down. But for that high bun effect i did not pull the hair all the way just half way and pinned it down with a bobby pin.

STEP FIVE

Thats the back!..pretty innit? no? yeees!..LOL.

FINAL STEP

Now to lay down those edgessss...i used Marini curl Magic curling Gel and i automatically just Slayed! There you have it. I hope you like this tutorial and wil also try it, it took me about a minute to do this so quick and easy. Thank you for stopping by darling.
