Some Thoughts on Accessibility
So I’ve been in the simblr community for a couple of months now, and I’ve noticed something about the way many of us view content and what’s accessible. I’ve seen people say that they don’t use build cc because they upload their builds to the gallery and want them to be as “accessible” as possible to others. But often, these creators own every pack and use tons of items outside the base game in their builds. I, and many others, don’t own every pack, or even any of them.
Now, I don’t want there to be any misunderstanding. I know that these creators don’t owe me anything, and I’m not asking that anyone change the way they make their lots or sims. Seriously, I have so much respect for the people who make incredible lots and sims, regardless of where the content they use comes from. This post isn’t meant to call anyone out or criticize anyone in any way.
I’m only bringing this up because I haven’t seen anyone talk about or acknowledge the fact that while it may seem more accessible to use Maxis content instead of cc, that’s not always the case. CC is free. All those packs aren’t. Again, I’m kinda new here, so please let me know if this exists already, but I’d love to see more of a conversation and community centered around making content for players who only have the base game or a couple of packs. There are so many of us and it’s definitely worth exploring.
I’d also love to know your thoughts on me potentially making a base game save file with made over townies and lots and completely filled. I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while. I was also thinking of using pretty minimal cc that’s already popular (like eyelashes, for example) and making a comprehensive post with links to download it all. Thoughts?
