Hi! I know there are some controversial characters in the franchise. My criteria for characters I won't do is repeated racist/pedophilic/etc behavior that can't be attributed to a translation error or poor tone indication or something of the sort.

Therefore, Barok van Zieks, who is repeatedly racist towards the Japanese protagonists at every possible moment, I will not do. When Stickler, who steals a child's underwear and is extremely creepy, I will not do. Dr. Hotti, who is repeatedly extremely creepy towards a little girl character, I will not do.

However, Godot, whose misogyny can be attributed to a translation error where he was commenting on Franziska's age in the original Japanese version and not the fact that she was a woman, is all clear. The fact that he babies Mia doesn't really bother me, since he learns to respect her intelligence and courtroom authority later.

Kristoph Gavin, who is a manipulative serial killer who attempts to murder a child, is all clear. He's a terrible person, but this is a video game franchise about murder, so it's nothing remarkable.

Raymond Shields, who is very romantically forward and touchy, especially towards young women, is all clear. There was only one true instance of pedophilic behavior-- when he said "What will come of Kay-Ray's relationship now??"-- which immediately ruined his character for me and a lot of others, but I understand his appeal and actually really like him if you ignore that incredibly weird and out-of-nowhere line.

Manfred von Karma, who murdered a man and forcefully adopted his child to raise as his own apprentice, is all clear. We know he's terrible. He's the textbook murderer we all know and love.

Matt Engarde, who hired a hitman to kill his coworker and kidnap a girl, is all clear. He's a terrible person, but this is a video game about bringing justice to terrible people.
