„Y/N, will you go out with me?“ Your jaw dropped when you looked at your best friend standing in front of you with a bouquet. If it weren‘t for the flowers you definitely would‘ve laughed it off as another one of his silly jokes. But he was serious. Probably the most serious you‘d ever seen him.
Did he find out that you had feelings for him as well?
Whether he did or not, you couldn‘t care less at that moment. He was standing right in front of you with the most beautiful smile you’d ever seen in your life.
You fell right into his arms. A wave of overwhelming happiness soared through you when he pressed your body tightly against his allowing you to hear his rapid heartbeat. He must‘ve been nervous, you thought as you giggled into his chest. Seokjin planted a small peck on the crown of your head. „You have no idea how relieved I am.“
„You don‘t have to do that, you know?“ Seokjin stopped in his track, his hand still resting on the coffee cup he just placed down on your desk. Slowly retreating his hand he straightened up to face you. You looked at him from the entrance of your shared office. The day had just started and even though he‘d been doing this for a whole week now you had never caught him red-handed before. And you finally took the chance to speak up.
He was looking at you calmly eyes moving across your face trying to read your thoughts.
„I‘m just trying to be nice to my assistant.“ You raised your brows but nodded slowly.
„I know but I‘m telling you that’s not necessary.“
Walking over to your desk you sat down almost sinking into the cushion of your chair. It was way too comfortable for work you thought as you looked up at him. You felt a lot smaller now however, he was preoccupied pondering over your words.
„I understand, it won‘t happen again.“
He bowed quickly before turning around to walk over to his desk. For some reason, you‘d hoped he would be more obstinate and you hated the way you were almost disappointed as you stared at his back.
Scolding yourself internally you got back to work trying to ignore the steaming cup on your desk.
For the rest of the day, Seokjin was immersed in his work while you were struggling to focus on the paperwork in front of you. There were no other appointments that day so you were stuck in the office with him. You kept looking over to his side wondering whether you’d been too harsh or not but you shook off that thought and finally took a sip from the now cold coffee. It would be a waste to throw it away.
After some time you gave up and thought about texting Taehyung to see what he was up to.
„Who are you texting?“ You almost dropped your phone at the sudden question.
Seokjin was staring at you intimidatingly from across the office hands folded in front of him.
„I‘m done for the day, so I thought I‘d ask my-“
You got cut off in the middle of your explanation.
„You‘re done already?“ You nodded hesitantly trying to ignore the things you put off for the next day. If you were only able to focus in his presence. You would‘ve been done ages ago.
„Perfect. You could show me around the company a little. I heard there‘s a beautiful park nearby but I never had the chance to visit.“
You thought he was kidding but the expectant look on his face convinced you otherwise. Noticing your hesitation he got up and started getting ready to head out.
He was right about the park. Your company opened up a beautiful park on the west side to enable the workers to spend their break time in a peaceful environment. But he could‘ve gone there by himself.
„And you need me to accompany you?“ You dared to ask cautiously. Seokjin stopped in his movements to look back at you.
„Did you forget why you got the position as my assistant?“
He didn‘t have to remind you you still remembered that conversation with your boss as if it just happened yesterday.
Without arguing further you packed your stuff and got ready to show him the park.
It took a few minutes to get to it and during the whole walk you didn‘t say a word to each other. You tried to focus on everything around you to avoid the awkwardness surrounding the both of you. Seokjin on the other hand was trying to hide his sweaty palms in the pockets of his pants. He didn‘t think you would agree to show him around even though it was part of the agreement. He knew that visiting the park wasn‘t necessarily a requirement you had to fulfill.
Still, you came along without questioning it and he was relieved. However, his mind was now racing at a million miles per hour trying to start a casual conversation with you. He wondered about the last time he was this nervous around a girl but the answer was way too easy even to his liking. He still remembered your first date so vividly in front of his eyes.
„How have you been?“ He finally swallowed down the lump in his throat to break the silence.
„Huh?“ His question caught you off guard and you turned to look at him with brows raised in confusion.
„It‘s been six years, Y/N. I never got the chance to ask you how you‘ve been doing.“
Suddenly, you remembered all the times you‘d wondered about him and all the failed attempts of trying to forget him. You couldn‘t think of one thing that wasn‘t related to him or how meeting him after six years brought all of those buried feelings back up to the surface. It was as if you could only think about him when he was around you.
You sighed. You couldn’t tell him about any of that.
„Good, actually. I came back from England a few years ago and not much has changed since I left.“
Seokjin gave you a side glance wondering what you meant by that.
„Not much has changed?“
He could still remember the way you‘d turned his life upside down by leaving him.
Had it been that easy for you to act as nothing happened?
„Well, my friends and family were still the same so it didn‘t feel like anything-“
You stopped in the middle when you realized how that must have come across. His eyes were calm but you knew that look all too well. He was hurt by your inconsiderate words.
„Jin, I-“ You stuttered while his eyes got wide and you realized you had made yet another mistake by calling him by his nickname. You were only making it worse.
„I mean, Seokjin, I didn‘t-“ He cut you off.
„No, don‘t worry about it. I think I should go now.“
Before you could oppose he turned around walked off leaving you behind in the middle of the park.
