A few days had passed when you were walking by the sheriff’s office. It was late, so you expected it was empty. You remembered what you had told Graham and Killian, I’m gonna need time to think about this. The truth was you knew who you wanted to be with.
You lingered by the station before making up your mind, you’d tell them the truth. As you began to walk home the door to the station opened.
“Y/N? What are you doing here?” Graham hovered in the entrance.
You blinked, rubbing your arm in the cold, “Oh, hey. I was just walking home. Why are you here so late?”
He lowered his eyes, “Just working,” clearing his throat he began, “so, I don’t want to push you or anything but–”
“It’s you Graham,” You confessed. He stared at you blankly, “the day I walked out of your office after hearing you and Killian I knew I loved you.”
“Wait, you’re sure?” His eyes widened.
You half smiled, “I’m pretty sure.”
He wrapped his arms around you in a hug, “You have no idea how much I love you Y/N. But Killian,”
“He’s just a friend. I care about him, but not at all like the way I care about you.” You pulled away, looking up at him. Though you couldn’t make out all his features in the darkness you could see the love in his eyes. Suddenly aware of your own heartbeat you felt it pick up. You leaned in, wrapping your hand around his shoulder. He didn’t hesitate when your lips met his. His lips –softer than you would have imagined– sent a wave of warmth washing over you.
His right hand brushed against your face as his other reached for your lower back. Your heart was pounding as you felt his body against yours. You were encased in the moment together, his warmth dulling the surrounding cold. Eventually you pulled away almost out of breath.
He laughed, “That felt really good.” Putting his arm around your shoulder he sighed, “Would you like to stay at my house tonight?”
You chuckled, “Sure, but only if you have food. I’m starving.” He grinned as you walked home together, in the cold night air.
A few days had passed when you decided to go to the docks. You were hoping Killian wasn’t there so you could come up with the right words to say. After you left the sheriff’s office that day you knew who you loved. You were about to look for him when a voice called out.
“Well if it isn’t the one I’ve been looking for.” You turned to see Killian grinning.
“Oh, hey,” You said, caught off guard.
“Don’t worry love I’m not gonna pester you about you know what,” He walked towards you, “I just wanted to tell you I’m sorry for what I said to Graham. I was out of line, and I know he’s important to you.”
You shook your head, “No its okay, he was out of line too. He hasn’t threatened you again, has he?”
He chuckled, “What, you don’t think I could handle him?”
“That’s not what I meant.” You grumbled.
“Ah, I know what you meant. You’ll be pleased to know he’s been very gracious.” His gaze wondered towards the water. “Not that I’m complaining, but why did you come here today?”
You scratched your head, “I haven’t seen you in town much lately.”
He laughed, “Not sure if you know this, but I’m not very well liked love.” Looking down he continued, “That on top of not wanting to bother you, well I didn’t have much of a reason to be in town now did I?”
“No, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t say things like that. I’m just not thinking straight.” He rubbed his eyes.
You swallowed your nerves and spoke, “I came here for you.” He tilted his head in confusion, “Not because I haven’t seen you in town, but because I think I’m in love with you.”
He let out a breath, “You do?”
Nodding you giggled, “Yeah, I wasn’t sure how to tell you, so I figured I’d just say it. I love you Killian.”
He laughed excitedly, “You love me!” He took a step towards you, closing the distance, “Apologies, I just wasn’t actually expecting, well, any of this,”
“Just come here,” You smirked. His eyes glinted in the light as he leaned towards you. You shut your own as you felt his lips on yours. It sent a current through your body, making you unstable. He reached for the small of your back to steady you. A rush of adrenaline surged through you as your hands dug into his hair, not focusing on the fluttering in your stomach. In what seemed like too soon he pulled away panting.
“I love you Y/N.” He leaned his head against yours.
You laughed, “I think I know that by know captain.” Slipping your hand into his you let sighed, “Now let’s go on an adventure together.”
