Billy usually gets what he wants. no matter how hard he has to work for it. girls come easy for him. all he has to do is look their way and they’re putty in the palm of his hands, willing to do whatever he wants wherever he wants. he’s never been rejected till you showed up in Hawkins.
he was a senior and you’re a junior. you’ve heard the whispers and gossip about him by other girls. how good he is in bed and sure he’s cute, but you don’t really have any experience in sex nor did you want it. and you doubted he would even give you the time of day. you’d rather bury yourself in a book or put a record on to drown out the nonsense and noise in your head. plus on top of school you also have a job at a local diner thats always full of customers. Hawkins Grill. nothing fancy. so you honestly don’t have time for a love life.
Billy sees you walking towards your locker and beats you to it, propping his head with his hand as he leans close to you. you ignore him and open your locker, “accidentally” hitting him in the face with the door. “ow! hey! i’m standing here!” Billy says, holding his nose.
“sorry didn’t see ya there.” you shove your books inside and slam the door shut. you start walking towards the exit but Billy keeps up with you. the hallway is crowded so you’re pretty much stuck with him at the moment. “what do you want Billy?” you ask, annoyed. “one date.” he says, looking at you. you roll your eyes.
“am i really gonna have to break your heart again? we’ve been through this.” you reach the end of the hallway and he pushes the door open for you. “come on please? i’ll make it worth your while.” he tells you. he walks you out to your car (like you weren’t capable of walking towards it alone) and watches you struggle to get your keys out of your backpack.
“Billy for the fuckteenth time, no. i’ve heard how you are with girls. i’m not gonna be another notch in your belt.” you reply coldly. still trying to find your keys. you start pulling notebooks and binders out of your backpack and setting them on the hood of your car finally finding your keys in the bottom of it. Billy helps you put your notebooks back in your backpack. “give me a chance Y/N.” you look up at him and you saw something change in the way he looked at you. “just one date,” he says, handing you your backpack, his hand softly brushing yours sending shivers down your spine, “i promise i won’t play games with you. no tricks. just treats.” he flirts at you and winks.
you sigh as you feel your cheeks start to blush. “okay fine, one date. i’ve tortured you enough but you better make it worth my time! now go i gotta get to work.” you open up the car door and climb inside.
“what time does your shift end?” he asks you.
“8pm.” you tell him. “and don’t be late!”
“i won’t be.” he replies. you start the engine and slowly back out of the schools parking lot. through your rearview mirror you could’ve sworn you saw Billy throw out a victory fist bump in the air.
you carry more cups of coffee than you can count and multiple plates of food on your arms, making your way carefully to the bar where old men were waiting and set each cup of joe down. they mumbled thank you’s and started mumbling amongst themselves not caring about your existence. you walk around the bar and make your way to table seven. where a group of teenagers are loudly talking about the football game last Friday. you smile as it’s your favorite little group of freshmen.
“here Y/N, let me help you with that.” Mike said. taking plates one by one and setting them down on the table. “okay Dustin which one’s yours?”
“that one with the pancakes!” he exclaims. He reaches over and grabs it. Max starts to reach for hers but Lucas gets it for her. you smile as you see her blush. young and in love, so romantic. Mike and El share a plate of waffles, while Will takes his plate of a burger and fries.
“thanks Mike i appreciate that. so who won the game last night guys?” you ask them. you take out your notepad and pencil like you’re writing down another order so you don’t get in trouble by the boss.
“us!” they all shout in unison, making you jump a little.
“you should’ve seen it Y/N!” Dustin says, “best 30 yard field goal kick i’ve seen in a long while! it practically won us the game.”
“wow! sorry i missed it! i was here at work so i wasn’t home till late so i didn’t get a chance to watch it but i’m glad we won!” you say. “ya’ll enjoy now, see ya’ll later.” you walk off to clear off another table for customers.
8pm rolls around and you here the bell in front of the door sound off, signaling that someone was walking in. you duck behind the counter and peek over. it’s Billy. you quickly sprint to the employees bathroom and check yourself over. you stare at yourself in the mirror, makeup looks okay but the hair needs a little fixing. you wet your ends and smooth out the top, tying it in a high pony so it stays out of your face. you walk back out to the front of the diner to see him sitting at the bar patiently. he spots you and gets up out of the stool.
“hey! you ready?” he asks you. you take him in. his leather jacket, the way his tight white t-shirt hugs every muscle on his toned body. you knew he worked out, but man he works out. you snap out whatever trance his body put you through and look up at him. his hair falling perfectly over his blue eyes. you’ve never seen such blue eyes before, so pretty.
“yeah let’s go.” you tell him and he offers you his arm. cautiously you take it. he leads you out of the diner and opens the passenger side of his car for you. “wow Hargrove you’re actually opening the door for me. how sweet.” you say getting in his car. “chivalry isn’t dead my dear.” he replies closing the door. he slides into his seat and starts the car, revving the engine a little just to get your reaction. “you’re gonna fuck up your motor if you keep doing that.” you tell him. he smirks and rolls his eyes as he puts the car in drive.
you drive in silence for a while, occasionally peeking at Billy while he drives. the way he grips the steering wheel, silently wishing his hands were on you. he startles you as he starts taking out a cigarette, offering you one. you take it. it’s not your first time smoking and you need something to take the edge off. Billy lights it for you.
“thanks.” you say, taking a drag of the cigarette and blowing smoke out the window. you try to concentrate on anything else besides this date or Billy. you take another drag and turn the radio on. the volume turned all the way up makes you jump and cover your ears.
“Billy why is your radio turned up so loud?” you yell over the music. Billy starts laughing and turns it down a few notches.
“i just like my music loud. like to feel it in my bones.” he says. “ever heard of The Scorpions?”
“no i haven’t, is this them?” you ask him.
“yeah! Rock You like a Hurricane is the name of the song. such a jam!” he exclaims, turning it up a little but not too much cause he doesn’t want to hurt your ears. a few minutes go by and you feel your anxiety ease. you reach for the volume knob and turn it all the way up. “i like this song!” you exclaim.
“yeah me too!” Billy says, rolling the windows down and letting the cool air in. you start to giggle at him, watching him mock the guitar solo. you feel so free. like nothing can go wrong, you’ve never felt like this before in your life. you hope this feeling never ends.
he takes you to a private place where he likes to come and be alone to think. high in the mountains of Hawkins. he parks the car at the base of the trail in the middle of the woods and comes around your side to open the door for you. you start blushing and he notices, making him suddenly look down at his feet all shy. he’s never been shy around a girl before, he was so confident before. now he feels like he can’t even breathe. he composes himself before saying “there’s a small trail we gotta hike up but i promise the view is amazing.” you nod your head and start walking with him leading the way.
“so what made you bring me out here?” you ask him, “is this where you take all your girls?” you look over at him while walking. he laughs and shakes his head.
“no, it’s usually a one-night stand thing with them. nothing more than that. and i know how fucked up that is. i’ve never taken anyone here before today.” he tells you. you ponder over what he says, wondering if it’s truthful.
“really?” you cock your head to one side, “i’m the first one?” you watch him break a branch off of a tree and give it to you. you take it and giggle, “thanks for the walking stick.”
“you’re welcome.” he says “and yeah, you’re the first girl i’ve taken out here. seriously.”
“well i’m honored Billy.” you poke him with the stick. you both continue walking until you come to a ledge looking out over Hawkins. you’re in awe at how beautiful it looks from all the way up here. Billy looks at you, “welcome to the spot. that’s what i call it.”
you let out a laugh, “the spot? that’s the best you can come up with?” you keep laughing and soon Billy joins in.
“well yeah is that bad name?” he watches you laughing as you double over in laughter not being able to keep yourself up. Billy reaches for you and lets you lean on him for support. he runs his fingers in your hair as you have your face buried in his chest muffling your laughter.
“i’m sorry Billy i just thought you’d have a more elaborate name than “the spot”” you say with air quotes, your laughter slows down enough to take a few deep breaths, still leaning on Billy for support. you feel comfortable enough to wrap your arms around him hugging him. he laughs at you, wrapping his arms around you.
“Billy can i ask you a serious question?” you feel him lay his chin on top of your head.
“sure what’s up?” he asks.
“why are you such a player?” you ask. you can feel his body droop a little. like you struck a nerve. “sorry if that’s too forward.” you add.
“no Y/N it’s okay. it’s because it’s the only thing in my life i can control. i know that’s a sorry excuse but i’ve never been in true love before. i’ve only ever used girls. taken advantage of them and i feel so bad for doing so.” he unwraps his arms around you and lifts your face with his hands.
“but you changed something in me. suddenly you’ve been all i think about. i want to be a better man because of you. i’ve been in love with you ever since you first moved to Hawkins. i’m sorry if i’ve come on too strong. i’m sorry if me asking you out all the time got annoying. i’m sorry if-“ you take your hands and bring his face down to yours, kissing him. you’ve never felt so on fire in your life. you let the kiss linger before kissing him again, you feel his tongue slowly run across your lower lip asking to be let in. you grant him access and have never felt something so good in your life. you’re knees suddenly feel weak, like they could stop working any moment. you have to break the kiss off but feeling his tongue dance and intertwine with yours intoxicates you. he slowly breaks the kiss and your eyes flutter open. both of you having to take a breather.
He rests his head on yours, smiling. you bite your lower lip wanting to savor this moment with him.
“i’ve always had a crush on you, but when you started asking me out for all these years i didn’t think you were serious. i thought you were gonna treat me like all the other flings you’ve had.” you let go of him and walk towards the ledge and sit down on the ground. Billy comes and sits by you.
“the view is pretty great up here.” you tell him. you feel his fingers lace together in your hand. interwind.
“i’m sorry i never gave you a chance.” you tell
him. he looks at you with sad eyes.
“i did it to myself,” he admits, “i understand why you would think that. and you’re not the only girl to think that in this town. i built this bad reputation for myself cause i’m scared of being vulnerable with anybody but, there’s just something about you Y/N. i can’t explain it, you just make me feel..safe. secure.” you lean your head on his chest and can’t help but smile into his chest at the thought. you look up at him and giggle.
“me? Y/N has made the big and bad Billy Hargrove vulnerable for the first time? the viewers can hardly believe it!” you exclaim and toss your head back like a fainting actress in a dramatic scene in a movie. you lay back on the ground laughing.
“yes you!” Billy laughs and pins you down on the ground tickling your sides. you squeal at him, try to wiggle out from under him but he’s too strong. “Billy i can’t take anymore!” you can’t control your laughter, it echos off the mountains. you swear if anyone else is up here they can hear you from miles away.
“what’s the magic word?” Billy teases you, still tickling you.
“please!!” you twist and turn to get out from under him but he keeps his grip firm. you squeal again when he starts peppering your face with kisses all over. secretly wishing he won’t listen to you and keeps going. you like this playful side of him. a side of him no one gets to see but you. specially for you. his lips find yours and he kisses you slow, letting his lips linger on yours for a few moments. you feel your body sink into the ground more as if that’s even possible. his grip on your hips become softer, not wanting to hurt you. you’re delicate to him and he’s going to treat you as such. you keep kissing him, little does he know you’re distracting him. you smile against each kiss, trying not to giggle again. his lips feel so good on yours that you almost don’t execute your plan. as quickly as you can manage you get up from under him and book it to his car giggling as you look behind you, to see Billy struggle to get up from his knees.
“you shouldn’t have overdone it in wrestling Billy.” you laugh, seeing him get up.
“oh is that so little girl?” he replies taking off after you. you laugh, already halfway to his car. you make it only to realize he’s locked the doors. you squeal feeling an arm wrap around you from behind picking you up.
“Billy let me down!” you giggle. Billy smirks at you and holds up his car keys.
“did you forget something?” he jiggles the keys at you.
“no i was just making sure you locked the doors.” you say. Billy puts you down and unlocks the passenger side door for you.
“yeah sure, okay.” He replies. you slide into your seat, watching Billy walk to the drivers side and sits down. Billy takes your hand in his and kisses it causing you to blush hard. Billy chuckles at the sight. “you’re so cute.” he tells you.
“after all these years i finally got you Y/N just to find out that you had a crush on me too.” you blush, rub your thumb against his hand, admiring how perfect y’all’s hands fit in each others.
“wait till everyone hears about this.” you say laughing. “we gotta make a grand entrance you know.” you scoot closer to him and lean your head on his chest. Billy reaches to start the car, giving you a great view of his bicep from the angle you were laying. He lets out a chuckle.
