uhm i've been sick (PMS, sore throat) for like one week na and may 1/4 pa akong isusulat for second turning point!!!! somehow nakokonsensya ako na nawala yung drive ko to write for a while lang naman,, but iniisip ko rin na i need to rest kasi forda go ang person this February huhu

ang hirap magsulat ng thesis lalo na kapag iniisip mo rin expectations ng mga jutao sa iyo. im writing this historical study not just for myself to graduate, but also for my community and Mapandan. you know like ayoko rin madisappoint ang mga tao sa sinulat ko.

anw ughhh,, im trying to write a "makabuluhan" na sentence/s everyday pero i feel like walang sense mga yun but do not self-reject!!!

So, umalis ako sa Baguio na super sunny at ang ganda ng panahon pero kinagabihan ay may suspension because of STS Nika.

Ayon, I have a library appointment sa Ateneo and (subject to approval) reservation sa AUST pero mukhang hindi matutuloy dahil sa tropical storm.

got the news last thursday na posted na sa vle ang mga pumili sa amin. and finally, may thesis adviser na ako.

August 7: Cafe and pagpapanggap na gumawa ng thesis

It's been a while since nagsulat ako dito because I took a vacation to refresh my mind. Pahinga then laban ulit sabi nga nila. Two weeks before the pasukan ay plano ko na i-maximize ang aking time para naman magkaroon ako ng progress sa aking thesis. With that, I contacted people that may help me and endorse me sa mga government offices since I need local ordinance and resolution documents para I can track the political progress (in term of policies, rules, and etc.) of our town.

But before all of that, nag-cafe muna ako kasi gusto ko mag-romanticize ng thesis era by studying at a local cafe haha.

A rough draft of my thesis. Like super duper draft lang siya so don't trust that write up. Plus, my matcha latte 4/10. Masarap naman yung ibang drinks like the Ube latte (8/10).

9/10 CR ng Mapandan Town Center. Maganda, malinis, at may tissue.

I decided to message Mayor's Secretary since I am confident that they might know where can I access documents that I can't find in our municipal library. Then, I messaged some friends and colleagues para more chances of winning. After waiting for a few minutes, Ma'am Marie replied naman and endorsed me (after a day) sa Vice Mayor's Office since as far as I know ay sila ang nagke-keep ng record.

I didn't take my midyear class this A.Y because I need to focus on my thesis' initial data gathering. Like I have to visit various libraries of municipalities/cities to find sources that will support my study. If next sem ko pa kasi gagawin ay mahirap siyang gawin physically (like akyat-baba sa Baguio-Pangasinan and makapapunaw so petang ed byahe) and financially (mahal na pamasahe).

Anyway, I returned the souvenirs that I borrowed sa Mapandan Municipal Library after six months. Long overdue na yung pagbalik ko since hindi ako masyadong umuuwi ng Pangasinan last semester. Last January 2 ang aking last visit sa library and luckily I found three souvenirs -- two fiesta ads and one CTK ads.

I'm somehow disappointed sa situation ng aming municipal library. As far as I remember, maayos naman ang library before like conducive naman siya for students but I think napabayaan na ito.

Here's the current situation of Mapandan Municipal Library as of July 08, 2024, the day na nabalik ko ang mga souvenirs.

Yung mga books ay hindi napupunasan at hindi categorized. Mga shelves ay hindi nagagamit kasi puno rin ng mga alikabok.

May mga magagandang books like the Pangasinan Grammar (red orange books) but hindi maintained properly.

So much books na hindi nagagamit and naalagaan.

On the brighter side, I found some rare gems such as the souvenirs and advertisements of fiestas and Christ the King. However, this doesn't mean na mag-settle sa less. The last update on the construction of municipal library was on June 20, 2023 based sa post ng Mapandan for Every Juan but until now ay wala pang update of the possible "new" library.

Every Mapandanian students and researchers deserves a clean, organized, and comfortable municipal library. Sana magkaroon ng action ang LGU Mapandan sa problemang ito.

I created this blog for the purpose of documenting my thesis era. My thesis will focus on the local history of my hometown, Mapandan, Pangasinan.

I have two purpose on this blog:

To make this blog a diary. Katon walay "junk" ya word para makapansulat ak ya non-academic related stuff aka thesis thoughts dumping. So, expect an English, Tagalog, and Pangasinan thoughts brain dump.

To make this blog an archive of Mapandan, Pangasinan sources and references. I'll be posting here the sources that you can browse sa internet and libraries. Even though this a blog, I'll try to make it more relatable sa mga nagbabasa (if meron) kasi minsan may mga history jargons na makapataktakot ya basaen san intindiin.

My undergraduate thesis is a pioneering work so please be kind to me since I am still learning how to conduct and write a historical study.
