I've been a prince for a while, but I haven't been a princess yet....
you know I hear a lot about trans men being mistaken for trans women, but not a lot about trans women being mistaken for trans men
am I just not hearing about it, or is it maybe something to do with the fact that transfemininity is more scrutinized and presumed? like, I wonder if people are more inclined to try to spot it because we are so fearmongered about
I have been on multiple dates where they assumed I was transmasc, and was ghosted when they realized I was transfem. I know it happens when I am inexplicably treated with dignity and respect on accident
I've talked to a lot of lesbians, and most assume (because I am butch) that I'm transmasc. Also because I have a deeper voice, a lot of people assume that I'm on testosterone. When they find out I am not, that's where pleasant conversation ends. Queer people are fine with a masculine woman, except when she's transfem.
Happened to me a few times earlier in my transition when I presented more non-binary. Stubble also grew out disgustingly swiftly and contributed to these kinds of misunderstandings. And yeah the amount of people who ghosted me after finding out I was a transfem was all but one of the people with the misconception (and that one still stopped seeing me as a viable romantic partner after realizing)
at some point after I started E, I started getting he/himmed in the same conspicuously-supportive way that I had been getting she/hered. took me a while to figure out that that people were thinking I was transmasc. I didn't understand why they were conspicuously supportive but, when I corrected them to she/her, they'd give me this politely strained smile.
happened to me at a bike mechanic when I was getting my wife's bike fixed. They seemed to intuit me as transmasc until when I had to give my name for their billing system - since we got a free repair and tuneup if something happened in the next few months, they needed to record a name. <Fem name> I offered. "Nah, you can use your real one." "Yes, <fem name.>" (bike mechanic gets moment of realization and starts treating me like I don't know what fucking pedals are, after I've spent the past hour talking shop about bike and electronics repair)
Was closeted in a queer dorm about three/four years on E. 5'10, Tits, Short hair, Dahmer glasses, the works. Everyone assumed I was a particularly lucky pre-T transmasc. I was moderately popular. When I finally came out everyone gave me the cold shoulder and started spreading rumors about me being a massive creep.
i imagine being white help a lot with this stuff. i have never had someone gender me properly even when they recognize my white GF standing right next to me as trans and at least attempt to gender her correctly
the amount of times i watched as the light leave a transmasc's eyes as they realized they just had a nice conversation with a Black trans woman instead of a Black trans man is absurd and always soul crushing. so much talk about standing with your sisters, but you get upset when you have to talk to a woman, and especially when that woman isn't cis.
in nonqueer spaces everyone thinks i'm a cis man, in queer spaces everyone thinks i'm a trans man. it's fucking agonizing to live in a society that constantly thinks you're a man, and even when given access to womanhood (incredibly rare, usually in online spaces), there's always an assumption i'm butch, i'm dominant in sex, and would perfectly fit the role of a man in the household.
at times the pull to detransition and/or end my life is very tempting, because it feels like i'd have to dress like a barbie doll to maybe, possibly hear "miss" something... occasionally. i either gotta erase all my Blackness or erase all my womanhood and i think when a trans man praises me on how i'm so "genderfuck-y" i'm reminded why i hate men and want to die.
when I bring Transfem Voices Project back I'd like to have been able to develop some sense of distance from this disgusting twisted cruel targeted mockery of it
this whole situation has warped my perception of TVP retroactively and it does create a knot in my stomach. I think of bringing it back now and I can't help but think of how it would inevitably be entering into this existing conflict with its warped counterpart. TVP always existed in part as a response to the prevailing image of transfems as predators and never survivors, but that image was never supposed to be in the room with it. survivors were supposed to be able to speak without feeling that image looming over their shoulders. TGVP has given that image form and positioned itself as an equal counterpart, and so that image is very much looming over TVP's shoulder now
all I can do now is hope that the memory fades and that TVP can return into a space where it does not feel like it has to justify itself against TGVP. I think I can shoulder some amount of responsibility for this for letting TGVP continually goad me into conflict with it. I really hope time can heal this and that TVP doesn't exist in the shadow of TGVP forever. transfem survivors' voices deserve to stand on their own, they deserve to be centered
it probably seems like a small thing but the idea of even posting submissions in the same format, with the 💖 emoji, feels sickening after seeing TGVP copy that same format with the blue heart emoji. I don't mean to be dramatic but it does put a knot in my stomach seeing it. I don't want people to see a TVP post and think of it as the pink version of a TGVP post. transfem survivors' voices deserve to stand on our own. that's why I put the 💖 on a majority of posts and only add commentary if it feels necessary or important to. the heart succinctly expresses my love and allows the voice of the survivor to stand on its own. it's not the pink version of anything blue. it's just my love. I want to be able to return to TVP with love
Help a multiply disabled lesbian from the global south currently between jobs
I quit my soul crushing suicidality inducing job in early June. I've been looking since (and actually from even before, I'd been wanting out for years), but it's tough now where I live even for entry level positions with Kast's and Quiroz's buffoonery (in summary, we were recently VERY fucked with a new reform and I'm trying hard not to think about it much 🤪).
I'd appreciate help just to stay on top of my bills, please.

girls going through it (ft. flowery)
it's like, definitely still mansplaining if the man is dominating the conversation unintentionally and he would totally stop if you asked him to, actually. like, the term exists to describe a phenomenon that arises from the implicit bias that women are expected to simply be less knowledgeable about things. it doesn't matter if he's doing it on purpose or not. he does it cause he expects women to not know things or to not have any input. maybe don't fucking expect women to stand up for themselves every single time they have to have a conversation with a man because that shit happens like daily for a lot of women
genuinely, sincerely, if you are a man you need to learn to shut up when you're talking to women
one of the most classic antifeminist tricks is to go "well it's not fair to get mad at him for (sexist behavior) if he didn't know" which is not only yet another tired attempt to reject the political frame in favor of the personal, it's a direct tee-up to the next idea, which is "because [as established] i can't be responsible for sexist behavior if i don't know it's sexist, trying to tell me about feminist ideas is an attempt to guilt me and possibly even a form of attack." do not entertain this bullshit.
if we're only allowed to be mad at being mistreated if the mistreatment is deliberate, not structural & baked in to the normal way of things, then feminism is worthless. do not ever concede this point. we are multiple thousands of years into patriarchy and it's a worldwide antifeminist backlash out there right now; if he "didn't know" then he should've, and he better catch up quick.
fascinated by jeff the killer tbh. everyone in that creepypasta has generic white usamerican names (jeff, keith, barbara, billy, etc.) except for jeff the killer's doe eyed little brother liu. why is he liu. is liu chinese? it's okay if he's chinese. is jeff also chinese? has jeff the killer been chinese this whole time? am I a bad person?
Genuinely surprised to see this from Jamie p and super glad as well. I feel like it's become such a pattern of seeing white queer creators casually say some racist shit or something to come out and then never properly apologize.
So seeing Jamie Paige be outright "No fuck y'all stupid racist white teens, she'd rather stop making music catering to you than let you make a fool of her art" is incredibly refreshing and makes me glad that to be a fan of hers and feel both seen and comfortably safe knowing that for once someone has the decency not to be a racist piece of shit!
Also go listen to Slayr right now! I remember hearing a couple of his songs before, and liking all of them, and this one is no different. Honestly I hope we get to see more hip-hop sampling and remixes of vocaloid music because its so so cool and wish it was done more often.
And hey this is also directed at all you fuck ass "rap is overstimulating" idiots on Tumblr too!
Something else I think is important to add to this post as well :]
A bit more self explanatory, but I'm glad he's confident to state it for the people in the back that Vocaloid isn't just a white people thing. It's a bit bittersweet to me in a sense that a lot of black creators online feel the need to hide themselves, but I definitely understand (I'm guilty of this sometime too the way Tumblr acts sometimes) but I'm glad to see that people are being more openly anti racist for once and I hope this trend doesn't stop.
Also I know it's already his most popular song, but it is such a banger too, go listen to this and the rest of his vocaloid music too!
Some dialogue choices in Persona 4 give you some points towards your social stats. One of the earliest of these is insisting that the TV World is too dangerous for Chie (a girl who has taught herself kung-fu), which makes you slightly more Understanding.
The sexism inherent in "it just wouldn't make sense for a girl moving from the city to the countryside to drive the plot" is baked into every facet of Persona 4's writing.
This shadow world is just too dangerous for a girl who can perform a standing backflip, it has to be up to us: Two guys with a golf club and a pair of monkey wrenches.

these are the people i'm supposed to respect as intellectuals
a doxx just went up for L / transgender voices project. it is faked by transgender voices project herself. I was aware of this ahead of time because she could not stop jokerposting. do not trust any doxx you see of L
I have been working on a big proof to get out ahead of this plan with the parody blog, and that is going up in a few minutes. I kept this information under wraps so we could drop the whole proof at once without her deleting evidence. if the doxx is of a real person at all, it is not the L of transgender voices project
the proof has been released
it shows where the person behind TGVP jokerposted about the fake doxx plan, and it connects together transgender voices project and the blogs sweetrapisteyes and isuggestsexualassault, providing evidence these are all run by the same person
(some links are still currently being added)
I'd like to point out, by the way, that she uses her blog isuggestsexualassault to pose as a transfem and go around telling people on tumblr they should be raped. not remotely shocking behavior for the person running a blog exclusively for stories of transfems committing sexual assault
Lots of posts defending yourself from rape accusations. How odd

if a trans woman's rapist makes the easy and common move of trying to isolate her from her support network by accusing her of being the one who raped them, you have to not be a useful idiot for her abuser to use as a tool
you can't always rely on "believe survivors" as a buzzphrase, because it's an extremely common abuse tactic to try to obscure the truth of who is actually the survivor and who is the perpetrator. this is especially easy to do against marginalized groups that people are already primed to imagine as violent. you have to first collect enough information to know who is actually the survivor in order to actually believe the survivor and not their abuser
a lot has been written about how nobody would ever falsify an accusation of rape, and like, I get why. accusations against white men are rarely believed or taken seriously. people often treat those who come forward about white men's actions like shit. people largely do not give a shit about survivors and they do not take sexual assault seriously. against a white man there truly is rarely anything to gain by coming forward, let alone fabricating an accusation
this is not true, however, about demographics you are socially and systemically incentivized to whip. demographics who have been routinely scapegoated by media and government. the reason an accusation against a trans woman is widely believed and taken seriously is not because people spontaneously start caring about survivors if the accused is a trans woman. the reason is literally just bigotry
whipping the whipping girl is what you're already incentivized to do. an accusation provides permission to whip as hard as you like. a trans woman's rapist will happily hand you the whip. you have to ensure you are not being recruited as an accomplice in their abuse
Next character that's gonna transition in canon is Luigi from Mario btw. and we're not stopping there
Nintendo put out an ad in 2019 saying Luigi wishes he could turn into a woman, it's time we force them to follow up on that
Cool so you took my post about wanting a character to be a trans woman and instead went "actually I think he's a gay man trying to dress as a woman to get another man to fuck him" and you think there's no issue here? Have you considered taking a hammer and screwdriver to each of your teeth individually instead?
