下午在難得的機緣之下，帶著一張 0.8m x 2m 的 QR Code 看板從台北101 附近開始逛熱鬧的信義區。出發前還不少人以為我是開玩笑，結果沒想到我這麼沒有羞恥心...

過程中我盡量讓漂亮的畫面朝向大馬路或是人多的地方... 而且新光三越附近的紅綠燈剛好都超久的，很適合讓大家駐足欣賞...

逛沒多久我準備進行下一個挑戰：搭捷運。

但一進車廂就發現板子還是太大了，無法直立只能橫擺，橫擺則妨礙到他人。果不其然，坐了兩站之後就有捷運人員來請我出去... (因此喪失了在忠孝復興這個大站露出的機會)

被趕出站後也只有繼續帶著 QR Code 逛大街，一路走回公司。

Why

其實這次是個心血來潮的實驗，我很好奇大家的反應會是如何？ 結果什麼反應都有就是沒有人有勇氣來掃我這顆 QR Code... (最多的是用斜眼瞪我!) 

不過我不想太早下結論，畢竟今天非假日，人潮不夠多，無法獲得更多的回饋。值得安慰的是，我也有偷聽到路人因為看到我的看板而跟同伴解釋何謂 QR Code，看來還是有人懂嘛！

It's 2012 and if you are in the market for a new phone, there's a really good chance that you will upgrade to a smartphone. And one of the first hurdles a feature phone user has to cross when upgrading, has to be transferring their existing phone contacts to the new device. 

Anyhow, my task today was to help a family member transfer contacts from a SonyEricsson Z550i to a SonyEricsson Xperia Neo V (Android). There should be plenty of methods to do this, but I had a few constraints, namely (1) the phone contacts exist on the phone only (never backed up elsewhere) and are too many to copy all of them to the SIM card, and (2) the phone's USB cable can't be found and didn't come with a memory card (M2). 

My hope then fell upon the Z550i's Bluetooth capability and first tried to connect a Windows laptop this way with SonyEricsson's PC Companion software (since it also claims to help transfer data to Android). This didn't work however, as the Z550i is too old and not supported by the program.

Despite the initial setback, the rest of the process is actually pretty simple. If you happen to be in a similar situation, please try the following steps:

1. Pair and connect the Z550i with a PC via Bluetooth.

2. On the Z550i, go to Contacts -> Options -> Advanced and find a function called Send All Contacts and use it to send the contact data to your connected PC. (Sorry if I don't recall the exact menu hierarchy. The Z550i is literally breaking into pieces and I'd hate having to turn it on again to check this.)

3. The PC will receive a .vcf file that consists of all the phone's contacts. Import this vCard file into your Gmail account's contacts. (Gmail Contacts -> Import Contacts…)

4. On the Xperia Neo V, sign in with your Gmail account and sync your contacts!

In hindsight, an iPhone 4S actually makes perfect sense and everyone should be happy!

iPhone 3/3GS users can be happy because it's a huge improvement from their existing phone and they can now look as cool as the iPhone 4 kids while actually having a better device.

iPhone 4 users can be happy because they will experience little buyer's remorse (especially for those that just got the white iPhones) and still look like they are using the latest phone.

App developers can be happy because their their apps will most likely run as-is but smoother on the new hardware.

iPhone accessory makers can be happy because they don't need to invest in new manufacturing equipments, and existing products aren't made obsolete. Money saved equals money earned.

Android/WP7 phone makers are happy because they will have more time to catch up to or differentiate against the iPhone.
