Spokane Complex Fires support and info
This post is a compilation of all the resources I could find to help support survivors and firefighter and first responders dealing with the Spokane Complex Fires, a trio of fires that have drastically torn through the north/northwestern part of Spokane, Washington, my hometown, and displaced some 60,000+ individuals and families.
Some of this info is taken from the most recent issue of The Inlander (thank you Madison Pearson!), others from various social media posts I've seen all week. Also please refer to these additional resource lists compiled by Spokane Public Libraries and KSPS in case I miss anything. And don't forget to download the Watch Duty app FOR FREE which gives real time updates to progress made on the fires, evac zones, shelter and aid locations, AQI and more.
And if you're from the area and know of other things now listed here, PLEASE add on to this post and I will do my best to reblog others' updates as well as my own when I come across them.

The City of Spokane's H.O.M.E. (Healthcare, Outreach, Multidisciplinary Engagement, Economic Security) Stars Here Fund, which is usually focused on aiding the homeless, has been temporarily activated to support individuals and families affected and displaced from the fires.
The Innovia Foundation has also started their own Spokane Complex Wildfire Response Fund to support nonprofits, businesses and community organizations in the area impacted by the fires.
The American Red Cross is looking for more monetary donations as lots of physical donations have already been made.
Catholic Charities of Eastern Washington has also set up an emergency fund to help impacted individuals and families.
Spectrum Center has started their Rainbow Relief Fund to further help 2SLGBTQIA+ folks who have been impacted by the fires. Apply here.
Terrain is looking to help artists who have been impacted by the fires and are asking for artists to fill out this survey to better help them figure out how best to help.
Nuestras Raíces is open to helping our Hispanic/Latino communities navigate finding aid and further resources and can offer clothes, blankets, air purifiers, medical equipment, etc. Located at 1214 E Sprague Ave, contact at 509-557-0567 or 509-761-4726.
SAN Pride Center is available to help our displaced LGBTQ+ community with a food pantry and clothing bank, hygiene products, figuring out how to replace medications like HRT, etc. Located at 715 E. Sprague #115, hours might be expanded right now for aid but online hours are listed as Mon-Thurs 9AM-4PM and Fri 9AM-2PM.
Spokane Convention Center is being managed by the Red Cross, located at 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. Parking is free and pets are welcome.
Spokane County Fairgrounds is being managed by HEART Animal Evacuation and is open to those with large animals and livestock, located at 404 N. Havana St. Trailer and RV Space available.
Northwood Middle School assisting those displaced by the Fairview Fire, located at 12908 N. Pittsburg Street.
Jenkins High School on 702 E. Lincoln Street, Chewelah.
Eastern Washington University is opening its residency halls to displaced students, faculty and staff and their immediate families until Aug 16th. Employees can email [email protected] or call 509-359-2451 and students can coordinate through Student Accommodations and Support Services.
The Disaster Assistance Center is open now in the auxiliary gym of Shadle Park High school, located at 4327 N Ash St, which offers services for disaster recovery and emergency services, housing and financial assistance/insurance, legal support, physical and behavioral health and human services, etc. Upcoming hours of operation are Mon 8/10, Tues 8/11, and Wed 8/12 9AM-6PM.
Spokanimal is boarding cats and dogs for free as well as accepting donations for cat, dog, kitten and puppy food, located at 715 N. Crestline St. and 710 N. Napa St.
Spokane Humane Society is available to support those impacted by the fires who with pet resources and are accepting cash donations to support animals currently in their care
Cheney Veterinary Clinic is offering complimentary office calls and treatment to animals who have been affected either by burns, smoke inhalation, stress/anxiety, etc. Call 509-235-6860 or text 509-285-9739, located at 1971 1st St in Cheney with hours Mon-Thurs 7:45AM-6PM and Fri 7:45AM-5PM.
Second Harvest Inland Northwest is accepting nonperishable food and personal care items, located at 1234 E. Front Ave., open Mon-Fri, 8AM-4:30PM, and you can also make cash donations online.
All Spokane County Library District locations (Airway Heights, Argonne, Cheney, Deer Park, Fairfield, Medical Lake, Moran Prairie, North Spokane, Otis Orchards, Spokane Valley) are also partnering with Second Harvest to host a Spokane Complex Fire Food Drive from August 4-31, looking for canned/packaged nonperishable foods.
Partners Inland Northwest has grocery-style food and pantry essentials, as well as clothing and diapers, available for those affected by the fires, and is taking donations for such items, located at 10814 E. Broadway Ave, Spokane Valley; they also have a drop-off donation bin located inside Auntie's Bookstore at 402 W. Main Ave downtown.
Feast World Kitchen is partnering with World Central Kitchen to provide FREE meals to those in need, as well as give out meals to people who can deliver them to those in need, for the month of August. They are now open SEVEN (7) days a week and serve all kinds of international cuisine every day, so check their website for the weekly schedule. Located at 1321 W 3rd Ave downtown, lunch hours 11AM-2PM and dinner hours 4PM-8PM.
Caritas Food Bank located at 4718 N Ash St (across from Value Village) is accepting nonperishable foods, open M/W/Thurs 10:30AM-1:30PM.
ITEM DONATIONS/DISTRIBUTION
Project Beauty Share is accepting various hygiene products such as new toothbrushes/paste, soap, razors, lotion, deodorant, etc. Drop-off at 2718 E. Sprague Ave. or you can find their Amazon wishlist here.
Plato's Closet is accepting clothing donations to be distributed at the Convention Center through Aug 9, located at 13004 E. Sprague Ave in Spokane Valley.
The Asian Community Center, Filipino American Northwest Association and Nourish Spokane are hosting a community donation drop-off site at 205 N. University Road in Spokane Valley, looking for essential items like gently used clothing, blankets, household goods, kitchen supplies, toiletries, nonperishable food, etc.
The Garland Theater and Bon Bon at 924 W. Garland Ave are taking donations and handing out nonperishable food items, clothing, diapers, pet supplies, toiletries, etc.
Global Neighborhood Thrift is accepting clothing donations at the main location on 905 E. Trent Ave, St Mark's Lutheran Church at 316 E. 24th Ave, Waste to Energy at 2900 S. Geiger Blvd, North Transfer Station 22123 N. Elk Chattaroy Road, and Valley Transfer Station at 3941 N. Sullivan Road. is open 10AM-7PM and giving no questions asked clothing vouchers to those impacted by the fires—UPDATE 8/8: they now have lots of clothes donated and need help distributing them instead! Please spread the word about their clothing vouchers.
Laura Tewel with White Willow Counseling is looking for Pokémon TCG card donations to give out to kids who have lost their own cards in the fires. You can mail new or lightly used cards to White Willow Counseling PLLC, 624 W Hastings Rd. Suite 16, Spokane WA 99218, or you can Venmo @/wwcspokane so she can purchase packs herself.
The South Hill, Liberty Park, and Central Spokane Public Library branches are open to evacuees looking for respite, AC and clean air, power for charging devices, children's play places and safety to gather and rest, open Mon-Sat from 9AM-6PM and Sunday 12PM-4PM.
All YMCA locations are open to evacuees who need to shower, charge devices, and rest.
Spark Central is open for anyone who needs a place to sit, create, connect, recharge and rest, and they offer lots of free programming to keep kids busy as well, located at 1214 W Summit Pkwy in Kendall Yards, open Tues-Fri 2PM-7PM and Sat 2PM-5PM.
Odyssey Youth Movement is open to our LGBTQ+ youth who need food, clothing, books, school supplies, hygiene supplies and a chance to shower or bathe, do laundry, or need peer support. Located at 1121 S Perry St along the 45 & 247 STA routes, open M/W/Fri from 3PM-8PM for ages 13-18 and Thurs 5PM-9PM for ages 18-24.
Boo Radley's and Atticus Coffee & Gifts are donating 20% of all revenue made THIS WEEKEND Sat-Sun 8/8-8/9 to the H.O.M.E. Starts Here Fund, both located 222/232 N. Howard St. in downtown Spokane
All* Rocket Bakery locations are donating 10% of sales made from their Rocket retail coffee bags from the month of August to Innovia (*I saw this on a flyer at the Wall St location, haven't confirmed if this is all locations)
No Li Brewhouse is donating 100% of sales and aiming for a goal of $50k to donate back into the H.O.M.E. Starts Here Fund, located at 1003 E Trent Ave #170.
Splat!? Co-Op has been assembling box filter fans to give out to the community though as of Sat 8/8 they have run out of supplies until next week. Follow them on Instagram for future updates. Also in general, they have a really wonderful zine and local artist shop and are a safe space for respite for LGBTQ+ folks, find them at 319 S Cedar St (look for the milk bottle building!) downtown, open Thurs-Sat 11AM-9PM and Sun 11AM-4PM though lately they also have special exapanded hours to help with box fan building and distribution normal hours resume this week!
For those in the Bellingham and West Coast areas of WA, @/rbofbellingham and @/hunterkaimi are collecting various food, clothing, and other supply donations to fill a U-Haul truck from Aug 6-11 at 1806 Cornwall Ave that will be drive to Spokane later this month.
