i dont really have a timeframe in mind for them, i kinda imagine they didnt really keep track or notice it either. i would put it in the months/years ballpark. "there are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen." moments of physical/emotional intimacy are followed by pulling back and avoiding each other to regain a sense of control and pretending nothing happened while waiting for the other shoe to drop. remember, they both have to win, and being earnest would mean dropping their egos. its not gonna happen... hidan is a lot more impulsive and less inhibited, so he is the catalyst of the relationship. he sometimes rushes into things, and kakuzu, who wants things to progress without sacrificing his "dominant role" then can just accept hidans offers and act high and mighty about them. hidan and kakuzu are the unstoppable force and the immovable object.

i dont think jashinism has anything against homosexuality (for escapism purposes i decided naruto is yaoiworld and nobody cares/homophobia doesnt exist unless it can be used for angsty scenes and sex and also because it could make sense for male-male relationships to be more accepted in such a military focused and patriarchal society somewhat modeled after samurai era japan). if anything, jashinism could be against excess and hedonism, if it mirrors buddhist traditions. sometimes to get a better grip of hidan i like to "translate" him. so if hidan is the subversion of the zen branch of buddhism, where the lessening of suffering of each being leads to nirvana, then its like if he was a catholic priest that wanted to get everyone closer to heaven by killing them. a priest like that could be funny both as opposed to all christian teachings but also if it followed everything outlined and being a bible thumper except for the killing people part which it handwaved and created elaborate rules around for that permits him to do whatever the fuck he wants. tbh im fine with both versions of hidan and i usually decide based on which one is funnier at the moment. so for example buddhist monks (in korea and japan) are usually vegetarian (iirc), but hidan eats meat and says its his favorite food. hidan in general reads like a person that doesnt do well with rules, other than those that have direct consequences for him (and sometimes he doesnt care about those either). if his faith was against sex or homosexuality, i dont think he would care, or would make up excuses why its completely fine only for him actually, and break the rules anyways. i made a post about hidans faith a while ago, i was a bit more coherent there: (i wanted to find the link but i cant find my own post. at times like these i wish i used the tags for their intended purpose at least for my own posts fml. i will try to find and reblog it/ tag it and edit this ask later).

kakuzu is a pragmatist, i dont think he believes or cares that much about the transcendental, or if he does, he compartmentalizes and numbs it. but kakuzu always striked me as a materialist/practical thinker. if jashin himself flies down from the sky and starts to talk to him about something that could affect kakuzu, he will think about jashin but only as long as he represent a task or a problem to deal with. until then jashinism and faith and spiritualism is in the same cathegory of relevance as questions like "what will happen in 1000 years" or "i wonder if its raining in sunagakure". bro who cares we are on a mission right now. complete apathy. hidans jutsu to him is just something that happens, he isnt that interested in how or why it happens, he only cares about how and when to use it in a way that benefits him.
