#JUDVS. a dependent marietta edgecombe established by rachel on the 26th of october, 2022.

COP CAR by MITSKI : sits pretty low on marietta's playlist, but was one of the first songs i associated with her because of 'i get mean when i'm nervous like a bad dog' and 'i don't think about the past, it's always there anyway'. they're two extremely marietta statements ! they shaped my interpretation on her as someone who bites back more often than not when she's thrown into a situation that makes her uncomfortable or unhappy, and as someone who doesn't regret the mistake she made as much as the consequences of it.

PUMPKIN PIE / WHICH FOOD ALWAYS MANAGES TO MAKE THEM HAPPIER? :  going with my gut here, i think marietta is very into macaroons but specifically. the kind her mother would make when she was younger, which she stopped doing when she got too busy at work and now will only do so on very special occasions, which never include her birthday.

HEDGEHOG / DO THEY HAVE PETS? WHAT DO THEY MEAN TO THEM? :  answered !

FOG / NAME FOUR THINGS THEY'D LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT :  the radium girls ( special interest ), poetry ( she writes it, but she doesn't think she writes with any talent; she'd love to pick her favorite poets mind and learn to do what they do, without recognising that it's not a bad thing she does what she does ), obliviation magic ( she's still technically a novice ) & hermione granger's greatest weaknesses.

SALTED CARAMEL / SWEET OR SAVORY? :  savory, every time !

FOREST WALKS / WHAT DO THEY DO TO TAKE THEIR MIND OFF THINGS? :  it used to be ballet ! marietta might have had a complex relationship with dance and performing and of course her mother, who pushed her towards both and made them seem so important, but she was also very good at it and at points in her life was able to use it as a needed escape. now i think that marietta lacks anything that even comes close, though she chases it in other ways - reading, maybe. listening to music. going for a walk and listening to music, when she realised that the former in total silence did the exact opposite of 'get her mind off things'.

HEDGEHOG / DO THEY HAVE PETS? WHAT DO THEY MEAN FOR THEM? :  she does ! his name is mojo, and he's a registered emotional support cat of the ragdoll variety that she got three years ago, or so. he doesn't really provide any actual emotional support, due to all his typical cat behaviours. he's a big fan of eating charging cables and knocking the vinyls she has on display over at least once a week, but usually more.

12. WHAT IS A BOOK THAT INTERESTED THEM SO MUCH THEY TOOK IT WITH THEM TO THE BATHROOM? :  honestly. every single book marietta reads, probably. i think the last one i put on her goodreads was the bell jar, but i'm also thinking she might be on an r.f. kuang kick ... maybe babel.

15. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME THEY WERE HELD, AND TRULY HELD, FOR SEVERAL MINUTES? WHO WAS IT WITH? :  answered !

ARE THEY MORE AFRAID OF BEING ALONE WITH THEMSELVES OR WITH OTHERS? :  equally both, i fear ? is that allowed ? marietta is someone who THINKS she's completely fine all on her own and puts a lot of value in her own solitude while simultaneously suffering the very worst when she's on her own. she's also someone who is never really comfortable in any sort of crowd, with any kind of group, and only tolerates certain people for any length of time. she overthinks way too much for all that, and tends to think the worst. she dreads everything.

7. IS THERE AN ARTFORM THEY'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO TRY (GLASSBLOWING, WOODWORKING, PAINTING, ETC) BUT NEVER HAVE? IF SO, WHAT ABOUT THE ARTFORM SPEAKS TO THEM? :  i still don't think it counts, but i'm going to go with the same answer i gave before - poetry ! marietta is and has always been desperate to express herself in a way that captures the way she feels all of the time, but she has no way to do it. she'd find the words coming to her a lot easier than she thinks they would if she'd just sit down to try, and i think she'd find catharsis in it, but i also think she's always holding herself back from actually giving it her all. she's deeply envious of people who are able to put words to what they're experiencing and feeling and make other people understand it, too, but she's not helping herself out.

15. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME THEY WERE HELD, AND TRULY HELD, FOR SEVERAL MINUTES? WHO WAS IT WITH?  :  you know. i cannot clock a moment in marietta's life, at least this past decade or so, where i can say with confidence someone would have, or that she'd have even allowed it - which is, in itself, the part i keep getting stuck on. marietta does not want to be seen as soft. she doesn't like weakness, and when she starts breaking down she also tends to lash out. i don't think she's been held for a long, long time, and i don't think she even realises it !

18. HOW DUSTY IS THEIR HOME? SPOTLESS, LIVED-IN, DUST BUNNY HAVEN?  :  pretty standard ! marietta despises housework, but she also doesn't really have much that can gather dust in her home - she's only recently set up a wall for framed pictures and put her vinyls up in her bedroom, and aside from those, her apartment still feels distinctly unlived in.
