Very fascinating type of person i have seen at least twice on tumblr is someone who wants to travel back in time and kill Jesus to stop Christianity in its tracks and therefore prevent the colonization of the Americas, Atlantic slave trade, etc. Like. I don’t think killing him is gonna stop Christianity. In fact, it famously did not.

Well, not with that attitude! The problem is that the other time travellers all had weaksauce assassination plans like "make his mother give birth in a stable with no assistance" or "get Herod to kill all the local kids". Pfft. I've done it right: I got the Romans to crucify the fucker. The most painful death known to man, and the most shameful; even the Romans reserved it for slaves and rebels. Let's see his reputation recover from that one!

reminded once again why i like judas/jesus. what if you chose your mind over your heart and you were wrong. what if you sacrificed your happiness to do the right thing and it was the wrong thing. what if the only commandment was love, and love was the only thing you couldn't allow yourself. what if you destroyed yourself and the man you love for nothing. what if you killed a false prophet and then found out he was god. and THEN! what if you were forgiven for it, because the absolutely nonsensical man that you love says that no one gets what they deserve. what if you had to learn to forgive yourself for deicide. what if the man you killed still wanted to love you. what if there was no justice. what if you wanted to die, and damn yourself, but your punishment was learning how to love

i've said it before and i will continue to say it religion and God and life are so so so much bigger and more astonishingly beautiful than fundamentalism will ever allow you to see and once you and your God can get yourselves out of those tiny pathetic boxes they try to fit the two of you into you can find more genuine joy and meaning in religion and spirituality than you ever thought possible. if you want. i promise
