There is peace when you are there

I could tell you anything

Now I rather talk less

My words seem to offend you

Constantly

Sometimes I don’t feel like talking

At all

Words are my passion

But you have diminished it day by day

I talk but I am not heard

Or understood

Your deaf ears are where my whispers foolishly fall

So how can my words reach your heart?

When will you know that waiting is painful, yes

But waiting is worship

Maybe next time I will speak to you again

I didn’t even know I had that many

I came here often to sing you praises

And write you romantic poetry

Now that I see the bigger picture

And the hidden ones

I still love you

Love touches you, imprints you

It buries deep in you

As you grow old, you think you forget

Indeed, love has a memory

It is not seen and recalled

It is felt, deeply, delicate, elusive

I weep that I do not recognise love when it presents itself

Not in grand gestures

And special occasions

But in everyday life

Present, patient

In every moment

And when I am old I will forget love

Time and time again

I thought I knew

You

Enemy or ally

Trapped or be free

To walk away

To bury it all

To smile and surrounded

To cry and uncertainty

If I knew

I can walk

Time might side with me

Who are you all this time?

Why keep it

And hold it
