Though he kept his eyes on the computer screen, he could feel Beth's presence behind him, even before she leaned lightly against his chair. When they were younger, she used to watch him play video games while he explained the story and all the characters. It was their version of story time. In that moment, he couldn't help but feel a sliver of nostalgia, easing up his competitive nature.

"Um.. ouch, dude?" He's thinking being called trash isn't nearly as bad as being called ugly. "And I don't think 'trash' really describes you?" Though truthfully he wouldn't know a word that would describe Josh in a bad light solely because he didn't see him that way. Yeah, he didn't always agree with things Josh did or said, but it was never anything that would make Chris think he's a bad person.

Then his expression turned a little more serious as he eyed Chris up and down, as though evaluating what he saw. "You alright? We always give each other shit. I thought that was like... our thing. You know, I call you ugly, because clearly you're not. You call me crazy because... Ok, well I am that, but I can take a joke." He grinned big, hoping the ribbing to himself would elicit at least a smile.

He headed to the living room and flopped down on the couch before looking back up to his friend. There was concern in his heart over what drove Chris to be so drunk by himself. Not that it was a hard riddle to discern. They'd been through a lot recently, far more than the average human should. Much of Chris's trauma, Josh knew, had him to blame. He fought the pang of guilt that tightened in his stomach by putting on a happy-go-lucky expression.

"I wouldn't be much of a friend if I let you waste away on your lonesome, now would I?" he replied. "Yeah sure, I'll take a beer." Ever since the disappearance of his sisters, Josh had been far more careful with his drinking. When he hit liquor too hard, it would mix with his medication and make him pass completely out. He still blamed himself in part for not being conscious when Hannah and Beth needed him most. Yet in the confines of Chris's living room, he figured he could have a beer.
