Jordan Kent

Have you ever noticed that ( JORDAN KENT ) from the ( DC UNIVERSE ) looks a lot like ( GAVIN CASALEGNO )? But ( HE ) also go/goes by ( SUPER-BOY ). Having the ability to/of ( KYPTONIAN PHYSIOLOGY ) sure makes them a force to be reckoned with. They’re known to be ( KIND, ) but also ( ANXIOUS, ) and they’re ( 25 ) years old. ( OOC: smo, she/her, mnt, 21+. )

Yara heard the commotion for the street, looking over to watch the situation. She recognized the boy, Jordan Kent. She almost considered walking away, until she realized he wasn’t fighting back. Though why he was just taking the hits was beyond her. “Get up…” she said softly. Then she remembered the stories. Jordan wasn’t always who he was in their time. He developed his powers later. “Oh fuck me.” she grumbled, starting down the alley.

A high pitched whistle left her lips as her heels clacked against the cement. “We both know that’s a lie.” she said to Jordan as she passed him. Now normally, Yara liked to be quick about things. But she was dressed hot and was feeling herself. She slowed down her punch and let the man think he stopped it. “oh no you stopped me.” she said dramatically before smirking. She used her other arm to grab him, tossing him into a nearby dumpster. Before the other could run she was in front of him, a smile on her face. “what’s wrong? Afraid of a girl?” she pouted before doing the same thing. Clapping her hands as she wiped them, she walked up to Jordon. “You alright?” she asked him.

She told him that they both knew it was a lie and his breath caught deep in his throat. She didn’t even know him and she was telling him what he was capable of. Did he really give off that impression? Like he was just some kid who couldn’t take care of himself? Sure... he’d just been taking every hit that was given to him but it was only because he didn’t want to kill them. “No, I can handle it.” He tried to assure her but the woman was already passing him and if he wasn’t incredibly frustrated before. He was certainly frustrated now. She handled them with ease and he grit his teeth. Glancing back at the dumpster they were tossed into before she finally approached him again. The urge to prove himself to her somehow was suffocating, but he couldn’t quite think of how he could. She was right to step in. He wasn’t fighting back but... he was about to. “I’m fine. I told you that I could handle it. You should have just walked away and let me deal with my own problems.” He snapped, eyes flickering red before changing back to blue like a lightbulb only partially screwed in. “I’m sick of everyone thinking I can’t do anything. You don’t even know me and you stepped in! Just leave me alone.” 

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Jordan said to the costumed hero. He was in civilian clothes. Sure, they weren’t exactly in the eyesight of the public... but what was this guy thinking approaching him like this? Besides, Jordan didn’t really do the hero thing anymore. He still had the cape but he didn’t feel all that worthy of it. Besides... this little Flash looking sidekick said Superman. “Even if I did... you got your Kents crossed. You’re not looking for me.”

“Trust me, you don’t want to be doing this.” Jordan assured the two muggers after they tossed him onto the ground. He always had an issue with control. When he was enraged, hurt or upset his powers came out in uncontrollable bursts. Like a violent wave crashing against a cracking dam that could break at any given moment. He was holding it back well enough now but he could already feel his patience wearing thin. He could hear their mocking laughs and he added, “I’m not some kid you can push around. I could break you.”  

“Oh, yeah. Tough guy? Get up and show us what you got then.” One replied with a laugh. 

 Just as Jordan started getting to his feet. Fists balled up. Someone walked up to them. 

“Looks like your pretty little girlfriend is going to fight for you.” The second replied and he could feel the heat behind his eyes threatening to break through. Lyla? Was his first thought before he looked over at someone completely different. 

“Get out of here, I can handle this.” Jordan told her. 

“Ma, wait-” ​Jordan got out as the two of them were just about to cross the street. He could hear the thundering sound of an engine as a vehicle turned around the corner and barrelled towards them. Reaching out, he quickly grabbed his mother and pulled her back onto the sidewalk as the car sped past the two of them. Running a red light and disappearing out of view.  “Are you okay?” He practically demanded. Eyes wide with worry.

“You don’t have to leave. You can wait by the car. Be my get away driver.” she smirked, sending a playful wink his way. Truth be told, she didn’t want Jordan to ever do anything he didn’t want to. Sure she was making him work a little harder to get into her good graces, but she knew this was crossing a line. He asked if she had a weapon and she swallowed. “You don’t want to know the answer to that question…” she told him. “Come on, I think I can fit through that window over there.” 

“Not on your life. I’m not letting you go in there alone.” Jordan replied with a small frown. He never understood how she could act so cool in the face of danger. She was so fragile compared to him. He wasn’t completely invulnerable like his dad but he was close enough to be stressed out about Lyla. She said that he didn’t want to know the answer to that question and his nose scrunched up. “I’m not a boy scout you know? I think I’d actually prefer if you had a weapon.” Following quietly behind her as they got closer to the building, he lowered his voice. “Do you need me to help you up?” 

“Huh. I guess…” she muttered. She searched the ground for the lock, prepared to ask him for it. But he shot her a smile that made her heart skip a beat for a moment. “Come on.” She muttered grateful for the cool wind on her heated cheeks. She slid through the small opening she made, waiting for Jordan to come through. “It’s not. It’s a terrible idea. And I get it you want to turn back. But I’m not. I KNOW this is the place where he’s taking the victims. No one will listen to me without proof though.” She said to him. She took put a hand on his arm softly. “Hey, don’t worry. I’ll protect you.” She assured him. “We’ll be fine. “

“Don’t get me wrong, I do want to turn back.” Jordan replied, “But I’m not leaving without you.” He told her. There was no way he was going to leave her and knowing Lyla- she wasn’t going to leave without the evidence she needed to prove she was the one to crack the case. She was always stubborn like that. She was throwing herself into a Lion’s Den, just for the satisfaction of knowing that she solved a mystery. She put a hand on his arm and he could feel heat on his cheeks. She had no idea how capable he was of protecting himself and her. “Gee, thanks.” He sighed. “Did you bring a weapon? Because I sure as hell didn’t.” 

“A..stick?” Lyla raised an eyebrow when Jordan offered to try. She cared for him but she was sure she could out bench him on a good day. “Maybe a rock? Or something we can use to just drape over the barbed wire….” she trailed off as her mind raced for solutions. “here. take a crack at it.” she said giving him the bolt cutters. She had only been looking away for a few moments when she heard the snap. Her head whipped around to look at him. “You did it? How?” she asked incredulously. “I barely put a scratch in it…” she trailed off. the sounds of clanging from the other side pulled away her attention. Time for questions would come later. She pulled off the chains, slowly creaking open the gate just enough so they’d fit through. “Scared yet?” she teased him.

Jordan shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t know it just worked for me. Maybe it’s all that farm experience.” He joked. Giving her a small smile as an attempt to make Lyla believe him. At at least find him cute enough not to fight on this. Taking off the lock, he tossed it to the side before Lyla moved in and pulled off all the chains. Slowly creaking open the gate as if they were in a horror movie. “I’m not scared.” He replied with a sigh. “I just... you know. I don’t think this is a great idea. That’s all.” He told her, not that it mattered much. He already broke it open for her and it wasn’t long before the two of them were slowly making their way through the gates. “We’re going to get in so much trouble if someone finds out.”

❛ You’re such a bad influence. ❜ Lyla said sarcastically, as she held the flashlight up to the very blatant DO NOT ENTER sign. “you said you wanted to make it up to me right? then help me. I KNOW there’s something going on here.” she handed him the flashlight to hold before reaching for a pair of bolt cutters. She squeezed and squeeze, but the lock on the gate wouldn’t break. “Ugh…there’s gotta be SOMETHING i can use.” she sighed going back through her bag. “any ideas?” she looked at Jordan. 

“Right... okay.” Jordan found himself saying. Reaching up and scratching the back of his head nervously. He could get into a lot of trouble but this was Lyla. He needed to do something to make up for disappearing on her. Even if that wasn’t really is fault either. He frowned bitterly to himself as she struggled with the lock before glancing around. If there was a rock or something he wouldn’t have to use his super strength on it. “Let me try.” He said before glancing around. “Maybe while I’m trying, you can um... look for a stick or something.” He suggested. Approaching the lock. Holding it in one hand. He gave it one easy squeeze before feeling it snap. Hoping she was too distracted to see him do that. “Oh hey- you must have... loosened it?”

Lois couldn’t help but laugh softly as her son spoke. “You don’t have to do that, I have my ways,” she said. Which usually included climbing on top of furniture that wasn’t meant to be climbed on, but anyway. She hadn’t fallen yet. At least not to serious consequences. “I love them, thank you,” she said, looking up at him with another smile. She laughed. “Jordan, I can’t help it, there’s a limited amount of storage space and everything is above my head.” She pretended to pout, looking up at him as she filled the vase with water. “Why, is that the only way you would come see your little old mom?”

He shot her a smile when she said that she loved the flowers that he got for her and shook his head at her words. “No- of course not! I’m just saying.” He told her before pausing and looking away from her. “Actually, I was kinda wondering... Does Dad come around much?” He asked a bit suddenly. She wouldn’t have to do all that if he was and he couldn’t help but be curious about the state of their relationship. He knew that Clark was busy with the hero thing. And if anyone wouldn’t be able to understand why Clark couldn’t stop back in- it would be Jordan. Everyone else in their family who did the hero thing made it a much bigger part of their lives and they still came home at the end of the day. Jordan watched Jon do that kind of stuff all the time. So why wasn’t Clark around? He could feel a small spark of resentment inside of himself. 

        “Thanks.” he moved out of the way of Jordan’s path. “Oh? Did something happen?” Jon asked curiously. Before the twins had gone with their grandfather and become stuck, Jordan and Lyla had been talking. It was a more developed relationship than the one he had with Dory in terms of romantic feelings.

Jon asked if something happened and he gave him a frown. “Yeah, kinda. She texted me while we were gone. Admitting her feelings for me and I just... wasn’t there to see it. So obviously I didn’t reply in three months.” Jordan said as he started to collect dishes to set the table with. Letting out a frustrated sigh, "I didn’t know what to say at all, so I left it... and then I ran into her in person...”  

“I could teach you! And you wouldn’t be a third wheel, we’re all friends!” Dory’s words were quick. She was nervous about Jon going to Atlantis and Jordan had always been her friend, it would be nice to have the support. “Besides we have air pockets, underwater caves and breathing devices for the surface world…we’ll take my ship in…please J.” 

She said he wouldn’t be a third wheel but part of him doubted it. Jordan wasn’t blind! He saw the way the two of them looked at each other but she was so insistent on him coming. The further she went, the less reason he had to stay behind. Even if he couldn’t swim, there seemed to be ways around it and with Jon right with him- Heaven knew that he wouldn’t let anything bad happen to him anyway. “Um, okay sure. But the moment I start third wheeling. I’m getting outta there.” He half-joked. 

     Jon took a step back when Jordan opened his door, not wanting to crowd him. “I thought you were still sleeping or busy.” He hadn’t wanted to bother his brother, wanting him to take the morning at his own pace. “Oh, I didn’t know. I’m sorry.” It was too late now. He couldn’t go back and let him know that he was cooking. “Yeah, I invited her an hour ago. I thought she might want some company.” Jon worried about their mother being lonely in the new city without their dad or anyone of her normal friends. “If you would, please.” 

“Yeah, of course.” Jordan replied. With their father not around all that much, he understood Jon’s idea that she might want some company but part of him wondered if it was more for their benefit than their mom’s. They spent years without seeing her. Even Jordan felt a little desperate for her attention lately. Walking past Jon and into the kitchen, he glanced back at him. “Actually, there’s something I wanted to talk to you about before Ma gets here.” He said, “It’s about Lyla.”

“Ah yes and you’re craving the grilled cheese of Pat’s Diner are you?” she shook her head. “Fine. But I want to be very clear with you. Regardless of your amish excursion, you hurt me Jordan. Very much so. You can not expect things to just fall back into place as if that never happened. You understand that right?” she asked him, the hurt finally showing as she looked at him. She even heard part of her accent slip back out. In the last 4 years it had gotten weaker, but tended to grow stronger when she felt strong emotions. “You were one of my best friends. And then you were gone like I hadn’t even mattered. Car gone. No note. I need time to trust you again.” especially when she did not believe the words he had told her.

“Yeah, sure. Who doesn’t love the-” He cut himself off as her tone turned to serious and she started talking about how much he hurt her and he let out a deep sigh. He was hoping things would fall into place but he wasn’t going to tell her that. She was right, it wouldn’t be acknowledging how bad she had been hurt. Whether he meant to do it or not. “I’m sorry, Lyla.” He told her softly. “I know, and there’s nothing I can say to change what happened. I just want you to know that I didn’t mean to hurt you. I... care about you too, you know?” 

“Mhm…right.” Lyla continued on, not speaking to him. She didn’t want to be cruel but AMISH. Did they not have the ability to write letters? She turned when they got to the corner. As expected he did as well. They reached the small diner where she served and she stopped just outside. She took off her jacket, her uniform underneath.  “So what’s your plan? Stalk me until I’m not upset with you anymore then?” she asked him.

“Right...” He replied in a breath, averting his gaze. Trying not to feel too guilty for lying to her. He just imagined telling her he was a superhero to be so much worse. Not only would he be letting her into his family’s real history but he’d have to admit that he was different to her. And that he’d been keeping it from her for years. “No. No plan. Would you believe it if I just told you I was hungry?”
