Leaves and frost crunch under his feet as Peter sneaks away from the hut that he was supposed to be sleeping in, His breath fogs in the cold winter air. He glances behind his shoulder back from the way he came, his eyes barely able to pierce through the darkness of the night.
The tall trees provide cover with their dark shadows and heβs grateful for that when he hears the faraway howls of the wolves coming out for their nightly prowl.
He shivers as a wind blows and the leaves rustle above him. The moonlight shines through branches and leaves a silverish tint behind, illuminating the woods to look almost⦠eerie.
Thereβs another howl closer than before and Peter jumps, not expecting it.
Peter slows down with his running and pants as he catches his breath in a small dirt field. Snow graces the soil in its frosty grip, leaving the ground white. His feet ached from the run, pleading for a short rest. Before he could oblige, though, a low and raspy voice echoes through the darkness from behind him.
βWell, look who I caught in my little trapβ¦ Little baby vampire who isnβt supposed to be out tonightβ¦β
A shiver is sent down Peterβs spine as Wade breathes on his neck. Arms encase his hips and clamp down hard enough that Peter knows that thereβs going to be bruises left in the morning.
Heβs frozen in place as Wade starts placing small kisses down the side of his neck, suckling a bruise on the faint scars of where he was bitten.
βMmm, didnβt know a big bad wolf like you cared for a little bat like me.β Peter sighs, relaxing in the embrace of his lover. Wade continues his way down to his shoulder and presses his lips to his skin one last time before pulling away.
Finally turning around, Peter runs his tongue over the sharp tips of his fangs and feels his mouth curve into a smile when Wadeβs eyes flash red at the action.
βWell maybe the big bad wolf cares very much about his little bat.β Wade growls, tightening his arms around Peter.
He laughs softly as he leans up to kiss his lover, a thing that he enjoys doing very much. Itβs like those fairy tales that Morgan likes reading, those ones that say that true love is real.
Because even though vampires and werewolves existed, it didn't mean that soulmates were a thing.
But if Peter had to decide, heβd say that Wade Wilson was his soulmate; his better other half, his one true love, the one he wanted to spend eternity with.
The kisses turned rougher and Wade pressed him against the even rougher bark of a tree-
A howl pierces through the air just as Peter breathes out a plea for more, please.
Both of them break apart from each other with wide eyes, each one ready to run, but not ready to part from each other so soon.
Peterβs eyes widen when the ground starts rumbling, the wind picking up around them.
βAre you sure you werenβt followed?β Peter asks, stepping away from the warmth that Wadeβs arms provided. His hands shake as another howl breaks through the tense atmosphere.
Wadeβs eyes flicker with something that makes Peter freeze on the spot.
βOh no, Wade. You didnβt tell her, did you?β
He knows that heβs not going to make it out in time just as another howl sounds, closer than ever before.
βI can explain-β Wade starts, reaching for him with outstretched hands and pleading eyes. Just as they touch, the wolves come through the cover of snow.
Logan steps into their clearing in his wolf form, a huge animal with silver fur. Next to him is Rogue, another werewolf but with her fur the color of rust and speckled with white brindle.
Wade had told him once that sheβd been attacked by a vampire a long time ago and that the white in her fur were the spots where they had bitten her. His lover has also told him that the attack was also how Logan had found her.
Thereβs two people next to them, humans with strange smells. One of them is a redhead woman and the other is a brunet man, one that Peter recognizes very clearly.
βPeter, get away from that wolf. Now.β Tony hisses, fury written all over his face. Peter canβt argue over his creatorβs wishes and in a flash heβs standing across the frosted field from Wade.
His eyes water as he sees Wade standing alone, aching to be next at his loverβs side, to comfort and take away the pain that would come with their separation.
Rogue stalks across the field slowly and with a growl, approaching Wade. Wade glares daggers at her, a growl escaping his throat. Before long, he had shifted into his wolf form, His haunches raised in a warning. They stare at each other, a pleading whine coming from Wade.
Logan shifts back with a snort and stares down both of his children with dark eyes.
The redhead woman stares unphased at everything happening, simply raising an eyebrow at the way that Peter fights the commands from Tony.
Most of the time, vampires didnβt have to worry about commands from their creator, the vampire that was the one to bite them to transform.
Tony had found Peter in a ditch, bleeding out and had bitten him to save him. They had formed a father-son relationship after Peter had woken up and Tony had grown extremely protective over him.
Morgan had come along recently and she was an angel in all the possible ways. But even as the years passed and the vampires aged, Tonyβs grudge against werewolves never wavered.
It had been recently that Peter met Wade, one day at a river collecting sweet berries for Morgan. Theyβd talked for a bit and laughed and over the months it had turned into something more.
βPeter, you know that Iβm just doing this to take care of you.β Tony says with a clenched jaw.
Peterβs eyes flicker over to where Wade and Rogue continue to growl at each other, and then where Logan and the redhead woman are talking. He knows that one thing he had tried to keep from happening was taking its course.
Terror took over his face as Tony motioned for the redhead witch to come over. She walked slowly and it gave Peter a chance to beg.
βTony, please. Please donβt do this. I canβt live without him, I won't live without him. Please, please.β Peter sobs, dropping to his knees, uncaring of the cold and wet ground even as Tony keeps his face expressionless. βPapa, please. Iβm begging you. Please.β
βOh, Peter.β Tony murmurs, looking down at his son with darkened eyes. βCanβt you see? That wolf isnβt good for you. Heβll never be good for you. Now stay quiet.β
His lower lip trembled as the witch got closer, her red eyes watching him with eyes that made his blood run cold.
Over across the field, Wade wasnβt having as much luck. Logan was staring him down with a hardened face and mouth curled into a grimace as he caught sight of Peter with tears streaming down his face.
Wade turns back in silence and his face is reddened in anger.
βYou leave him alone, call off the witch.β Wade demands, hands at his sides and ready to fight his elder. βDo it now.β
Logan puts his hands up in surrender. βI didnβt call the witch. The vampire did.β He admits honestly. βSheβs not mine to call off.β
Wade makes a whining noise, combing his hands through his hair. βI love him Logan, you have to help me stop them.β
Rogue circles them warily, eyes flashing red every few seconds. Sheβs as silent as the snow falling when she transforms to her human form.
βThereβs nothing to do at this point, brother.β Rogue points out, fingers itching to turn back again. Her dark hair was quickly turning white with the flecks of snow falling onto it, and Rogue winces when she shakes her head and a cloud of it falls out. βThe witch is all ready to cast her curse, thereβs literally nothing to do.β
Wade turns back to Logan with a determined blaze in his blue eyes. βI have a plan and because this is all partially my fault, youβre all gonna help.β
Across the field, Peter continues to watch as the witch comes closer and closer and closer and closer and closer until sheβs right in front of him.
She looks at him with wary eyes and an air of disinterest. βAre you sure about this Anthony?β She asks, looking over at Tony with a raised brow. Her voice has a tilt of Russian accent and Peter feels another sob bubble up in him when she gives him a pitying look.
Tony sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. βMs. Maximoff, just cast the spell already. I donβt want to be around these disgusting animals any more than I have to.β
Even as his mouth was clamped shut, Peter let out a muffled scream at Tonyβs words. No one called his loverβs family names, not even his own creator.
βQuiet now Peter, itβll all be done with soon.β Tony coos softly, glaring over at the witch as she made no move to cast the spell. βNow. Cast the spell, now.β
The witch moves above Peter in one fluid movement and with a growl Peter shoots up, fangs bared and ready to bite into flesh, ready to make the witch regret even thinking about-
Tony clamps down on Peter, holding him down just as the witch's hands begin to glow red.
Peter feels panic bubble up in him, and knows his eyes are glistening with unshed tears and knows that he has no way out of this. That this was his fate all along.
βPelle tactum ardebit, amor vetabitur.Cum lucet ultima luna et hoc invitis votum ruperitis, donec tunc duo vestrum separabuntur usque ad finem mundi!β The witchβs words are thunder, but also like the hiss of a snake.
Peter fights in Tonyβs hold just as the red tendrils of the witchβs magic surround him. He can feel it flood through his body, burning him from the inside out.
A scream breaks from his mouth and Peter can almost feel the magic falter as he cries out for her to stop. He begs and pleads and tries to fight his creatorβs commands, his heart breaking when he can feel something else happening.
The sensation makes him cry out, makes him feel like his skin was burning from the inside out.
He cries out in pain, in fear. For the witch to stop, for Tony to let him go, for help.
For Wade.
It seems like never ending pain, waiting for the spell to take hold. And just as Peter thinks itβs over, another wave of magic washes through him.
Even more screams break from him and Peter weeps for Wade, repeating his loverβs name over and over in hopes of someone coming to save him.
Peter squeezes his eyes shut as tight as he can when he feels Tonyβs grip on him loosen. There was no reason for him to run now. Not after the spell was already cast.
He falls to the ground as the magic retreats from his body, letting himself go limp as silent tears stream down his face. He can vaguely hear his creator thanking the witch before thereβs a pop that signals that sheβd left.
Someone picks him up and screaming is heard over the rush of blood in his ears. Strong arms hoist him up and then the wind and snow and cold is all he can feel as they run through the dense woods.
The person holding him stops suddenly and lowers him slowly.
Peter cracks open one eye and his breath is taken away when he catches sight of Wade.
βWade?β Peter asks quietly, looking into his loverβs blue eyes. βWhere are we? Where are our families? Wade-β
Instead of talking, Wade presses a kiss to his lips. Peter lets his lover press them together gently, glad to be back in his embrace. They stay like that for a while, more than they probably should have.
After an endless eternity, Peter pulls back with a breathless gasp when he feels Wade flinch against him.
βWhat happened?β Peter studies Wade with wide eyes, looking him over. His lover doesnβt seem to be in harm and Peter worriedly traces his palm on Wadeβs face.
Wade throws himself back like heβs been burned, his own hand cradling his face. The movement is so sudden that it causes Peter to launch himself back too, his back hitting a tree harshly.
βPeter?β Wade says finally, hands still pressed over where Peterβs had been seconds before. βWhat happened? What did that witch do to youβ¦β
And then when Wade peels his shaking hand back, Peter felt the color drain out of his face. Right on Wadeβs jaw, where Peter had held his hand, was a burn.
In the exact form of his handprint.
Itβs silent between them. No noise is made and it seems like everything is frozen in place. Wade looked at him with wide eyes filled with confusion and Peter with his back to the tree. The only thing that seemed to be moving was the snow that floated down.
His hands shook as realization crossed his face.
βIβ¦hurt you.β Peter whispers, staring down at his trembling hands in horror. βI canβt touch you without burning you. Thatβs what the witch did.β
Wade lets out a broken whine but reaches for him, letting out another whine when Peter flinches away. βPeter, I donβt care. I love you. Please. We can fix this. We can break this curse.β
βYou donβt understand!β Peter screams, pain clouding his features. βI canβt touch you, hold you, love you-β His breathing is ragged as his eyes blur with tears. βI canβt be with you in all the ways that I want as long as this curse is in place. I have to break this curse on my own. I canβt hurt you.β
βPeter, think this through. Please-β
βI canβt live with you as long as I know thereβs a chance I might accidently kill you when I want to hold you.β Peter whispers, staring into Wadeβs glistening eyes. βI wouldnβt be able to live with myself if that ever happened.β
Two howls break through the air, and Wadeβs head shot up in the direction they came from. Peter feels another part of him break when he realizes that he wonβt see his wolf for a very long time.
However long it took to break the curse.
βI need you to take care of Morgan.β His voice shakes and he shakes his head harshly when Wade looks back at him and starts walking towards him.
Ignoring him, Wade finally makes it to him and Peter can feel himself shaking when he can feel his loverβs arms around him. He tries to ignore the flinch that Wade tries to hide.
βI love you, but I have to leave.β Peter murmurs, pressing a kiss to his cheek and ignoring the tears that shone in both of their eyes. βIβll be back. For you. For us. Iβll break the spell. I promise you.β
The howls come closer and only then does Peter make his way out of Wadeβs embrace.
Heβs reminded of how this night had begun. Of the stolen kisses that had been shared in secret. Compared to now, with their tears mixed together and shaking hands, then seemed like a dream.
βIβll be back.β Peter vows just as Logan and Rogue break through the tree line.
When Wade turns back, Peter is gone.
Across the forest, Peter feels tears falling down his face and he makes no motion to wipe them off.
Heβll be back.
Back for the love of his life.
Back for his wolf.
Back for his soulmate.

Notes:
for a small explanation to how wade left with peter: Wade gets Rogue and Logan to take down Tony. and while Tonyβs distracted, he gets Peter and runs. Logan and Rogue end up killing Tony :)
Rough translation of Wandaβs Curse: βSkin will burn to the touch and love will be forbidden. When the last moon shines and you break this unwanted vow, until then will the two of you be separated until the end of the worldβ
