Last day here, I got up about 5:35 (10 minutes before my alarm) and got ready to go to church for morning prayer. I had almost 30 minutes, so I took time to relax and just enjoy my surroundings one last time. Prayer went well, I got to pray with Mateo (with glasses) and thanked God for lots of things, including my time spent in Colombia, explaining that I would be leaving in a few short hours. Went back home and did all my morning stuff and was served patacones with cheese by Isabel. I stuffed my suitcase as full as possible then put everything left over into my backpack. Isabel and I spent some good last times together and she gave me several more gifts to bring back (before I packed, of course). I recorded a video saying goodbye to my parceros in Spanish and letting everyone know that I'm leaving. Eventually 9:45 came and we went downstairs to meet Michael. We asked if Isabel could wait there on the bench downstairs for about 5 minutes then went up to a flower shop and got flowers for her and Sara. She was pretty surprised, really happy! We said goodbye for good and Michael and I walked to his apartment and dropped off the flowers for Sara when she gets home. After that we walked to the church and I bought 2 little bunuelos and a big one, which I ate. At church I gave the two smaller bunuelos to Norita, who recieved them quite happily! Said goodbye to Russ, Dora, Pastora Marta, and Hector then got in the car with Pastor Steven and Michael and headed for the airport. We stopped for lunch at a little place that I forgot the name of (...something... Paisa) and I had a good standard meal of rice, beans, salad, arepa, and a chorizo, with mora juice. Michael also let me try a candy with arequipe and coconut pieces but didn't like it so much. They dropped me off at the airport about 12:00 and we said goodbye. Now (2:49) I'm in the air on the way to Fort Lauderdale. (5:20) Plane goes down to land but suddenly switches direction and ascends again. Captain announced there was too much traffic. Better a bounce up here than a collision down there! (5:28) Plane landed. Why did the ticket say it would be 6:34? (6:23) Having some serious bagging trouble: lots of bags but no one's taking. (6:27) Spoke too soon! Just got my bag! (8:41) Just spent a whole plane ride speaking with Karen Smith, a woman who does work with Teen Missions International and who just got back from a mission trip to an impoverished town in Haiti without electricity where she taught them to play recorders. Very cool! (8:52) Plane is starting 1hr 7min early! Didn't even leave the plane because it's exactly the same and I'm in the same seat! That was easy (9:02) Looking out the window over Orlando we can see the fireworks going off at Disney World! Awesome! (time zone change so 11:10) The airplane is parked in Atlanta! Zippy little plane this one... just driving around the parking lot at like 50mph! (11:30) Met David and Mom at airport. Going home soon! (3:00) Made it home. Unused emoji of the day: 🍶

Much resting today. I skipped out on morning of prayer because I fell back asleep after the alarm went off. But that's fine. Stayed home all day and had egg sandwiches for breakfast and rice with platanos for lunch, and just did social media stuff all morning and rested and made a dollar ring for Jose and created Tanner's new profile picture. Isabel gave me some gifts to bring back for fam. At 4:30 Michael took me to the mall and we had steak and a burger. Then we went down the escalator and talked over a cup of coffee, and I tried to open up about what was going on in my heart and what came out and what was said... I cried some more. Then we went shopping and got lots of chips and Cuatro and Coke, along with other stuff for Michael to take home. Tuesday nights are Michael's cell group nights, so we went to the church to have cell and all the youth were there waiting in a room with the light turned off. When Michael and I walked in they all started singing and it was a surprise leaving party for me since I go home tomorrow... I don't want to go home. We played that game where one person draws and their team has 30 seconds to figure out what it is, and we ate the snacks and lots of the youth said parting words to me and I tried to hug everyone. Michael gave me a chocolate egg that had a surprise tiger motorcycle inside of it (some assembly required), Mateo (my nigga) gave me an inflated little foam Colombia ball, and David Franco gave me his hat. I got to walk home with David, and I gave him my super-warm alpaca fur toboggan hat. It was a bittersweet day, but I'll survive. I wrote a message for Jose Hoyos in "La Historia", my Spanish copy of "The Story" from New Hope, and gave it to him. I'm gonna miss this country a lot. Unused emoji of the day: ℹ️

I see someone parachuting way up in the sky above the mountains (12:45) Our last morning in Los Llanos, we got up around 6:00 as usual and took showers and ate breakfast. We had a final meeting and Julian played the guitar while Sara (and us) sang. Then as many people as wanted to (including myself) said some conclusive words about what had happened on the trip and how God had worked and stuff. Then came the sad moment when the bus arrived for us to leave and we all knew that we had to say goodbye. I especially wanted to say bye to John and the pastor, because in this short time they've been really awesome and left an impression on me with their love and passion for our God and the work he's called them to. I took photos with them, which I'll be posting soon. Then we all got on the bus and drove away. Since I was awake this time and it was day, I saw how first the city got more spacious, then it became individual ranches with small restaurants along the way, then winding roads through the mountains and small, poor towns with lots of trash, then all in reverse as we got nearer to Bogota. It's a big, flat, semi-modern city, and cold. Which was great for me. We entered the airport and, hanging out as a big group in the middle of it, started playing with the light-up water filled bouncy ball. It's Colombian Independence Day so we got our faces painted yellow blue and red by the security guards! Michael and Pastor Steven handed out our tickets and we got to go eat somewhere, so I chose McDonald's and had a Chicken McWrap with bacon and the meal. At lunch they taught me two Colombian jokes that aren't funny in English because 1. The stuff doesn't exist in American culture and 2. It just doesn't make sense. Anyway I've probably told both of those jokes at least 4 times each today. Before boarding the plane, we played throw-the-ball-around-the-airport and Presi and a tiny bit of Al Pin Al Pon. The plane ride was cool, I pretty much looked out the window the whole time I wasn't facing a camera. Back in Medellín we boarded another bus and it took us to the church without much incident. Parents were waiting there and I waited around and walked home with Michael and Sara, at their request. Tomorrow we'll be resting most of the day, and Wednesday night I will land in Georgia. At home Isabel got out of bed and greeted me and heated up some rice, sausages, and platanos with juice. And then I cleaned off my bed, and now I'm going to sleep. Unused emoji of the day: 〰
