Board-certified in general and thoracic surgery, Jonathan Kiev MD attended medical school at Tulane University School of Medicine, then completed a general surgery internship at St. Barnabas Medical Center and a general surgery residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Pennsylvania. He also undertook fellowships in cardiothoracic surgery, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, and advanced thoracic surgery. Drawing on more than 30 years of clinical experience, Jonathan Kiev MD currently serves as the attending thoracic surgeon at CHI Saint Joseph Health in Lexington, Kentucky, where he performs minimally invasive surgery and thoracic oncology. Over the years, Dr. Kiev has researched topics including chemotherapy resistance and sensitivity in lung tumors and the socioeconomic factors affecting access to lung cancer treatment. In 2005, he received the Hume-Miller Annual Paper Award from the Virginia Surgical Society. In 2014, Dr. Kiev founded AOK Innovations, which has created patented technology for several disposable chest access devices. He is a past member of medical organizations, including the Society of Thoracic Surgery, the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons, and the Society of American Gastroenterological Surgeons.
