How is knowledge created online? How do the structures and pressures of the profit driven youtube algorithm affect knoweldge on these platforms? In this video I argue firstly that these platforms push creators to produce more and more work with less and less attention to sound knowledge creation. This has led to the proliferation of debate culture. I then in turn argue that this debate culture privileges certain forms of knowledge over other - that it has certain "epistemic ideals". Finally, I argue that these epistemic ideals are actually just developments of deeply embedded western ideals of knowledge creation which should be challenged by the left...I also try to make some jokes throughout to keep you entertained like the platform logic demands...damn I'm part of the system!
