John Fahey - In a Persian Market. From the 1975 LP "Old Fashioned Love" which I've been listening to a lot recently. This album mixes fingertyle songs with tunes Ă la New Orleans recorded with a full orchestra. A fantastic record.

"Mark 1:15", taken from America (1971, Takoma), includes portions of "When the Springtime Comes Again," from Death Chants, Breakdowns & Military Waltzes.
This is one of the most epic and powerful tracks John Fahey ever recorded.
Out of all the songs I ever wrote, I consider only two of them âepicâ or âclassicâ or in the âgreatâ category and they are both on this record. Itâs taken me more than five years to complete these. Most of the melodic ideas existed a long time ago, i.e. the primary âlyricâ melody in Mark 1:15 is the same as When the Springtime Comes Again...

Everybody else was just trying to copy folk musicians, I wasnât trying to do that. I was using them as teachers for technique but I was never trying to be a folk. How can I be a folk? Iâm from the suburbs you know.

This might be one of the greatest pictures ever. John Fahey and a cat.
In the 1990âs my future wife was a record store clerk in Portland, Oregon. American guitar legend John Fahey was living in a nearby town and would visit the shop. Here are two mix cassettes that he made for her during that time.

John Fahey -Â On the Sunny Side of the Ocean (recorded in Hamburg in 1978)
As for the source of the music, I believe it comes from the unconscious; that there is no such thing as talent.
