In the Todoroki family, I’ve noticed red consistently represents rejection. Touya’s hair changing from red to white is a metaphor for his father’s rejection, and Natsuo dyes the red streaks in his hair because he can’t stand to see his father in himself. Shoto openly states that he rejects his hot half and hides it with his first hero costume, while Enji rejects his role as a father in favor of own ambitions. Fuyumi is a slightly different case, she embraces her father instead of resisting that connection like her siblings do. Coincidentally, she’s the only one who doesn’t try to alter her appearance.
