Purgatory is literally a stakeout with your dead friend telling you you’ve got to stop being so suicidal (you are going to kill your self, you are going to let yourself be killed, you have known you were dead before the opportunity to die presented itself, you’ve been dead for years) you have to live because it’s what you do you have to keep going or else someone who is innocent will die or else you will fail your friends or else (you are going to choose to die and it’s coming soon)

he’s never breaking that cycle he has been trying to die being a hero since his father did when he was young, his whole life has been building to sacrificing himself there was never any other option never any other choice he has always known and wanted to die helping, saving, being Useful to someone else.
