For most, technology and social media come together as it is a way to connect with one another at any point in Earth and anytime. However, in my life, technology is different from social media. In my opinion, I think of technology as the tool that enables social media and without technology, social media would not exist.

         With that being said, technology and social media play different roles in my life. Technology has enabled me to expand my knowledge through the limitless access of education by just searching any question that I have in mind through web search engines such as Google, which would then direct me to academic sources, or especially now, during the pandemic, I am able to take online classes with the help of technology through Canvas. Not only does it provide education, but also entertainment at the same time since it enables me to access multiple kinds of entertainment – from games to movies. On the other hand, I see social media only as a connectivity or to communicate with anyone. That is the only role that social media plays in my life, wherein I am kind of a way obligated to have social media as a way to message my friends and families, since they are also there. Moreover, technology plays a bigger role in my life as an educator that would be able to help me solve any question or problem and create solutions, while social media is a way to communicate.

         I strongly do not think that any person can go without using their gadgets for non-educational purposes. Gadgets have been vital to us humans even before internet connectivity, for the reason being of communicating. This reason still stays true as of the moment, wherein our gadgets have one common shared purpose – a tool to communicate. Had there been no internet connectivity, people with gadgets would still go on their day-to-day lives using their gadgets for non-educational purposes. With that being said, I believe that my gadgets are an essential to my life and most importantly, a vital tool to today’s technological and fast-paced society. Hence, I need my gadgets even though it is for non-educational purposes.

         I do not think that I identify with any of the portrayal of young people using social media in the documentary. However, before even watching this documentary, I was already aware of basic User Experience Design or User Interface UX/UI that they use in technology, especially in social medias, since I am fond of technology. I do share the same interest in understanding and learning more about persuasive technology and how it enables user to keep on continuing in using the product or technology. I do believe, however, that this is not manipulation, but more of an understanding what people need and catering to those needs.

         The Political, Economic, and Social factors influence my life differently. The political factor in my life is indirectly connected wherein as a voter in my own country, it is my right to vote for the leader who I want to lead the country in the coming future or perhaps vote for a mayor that I support that would properly run the city I live in. The outcome of this would either be a better overall environment due to proper leadership or poor environment due to poor leadership. For the economic factor, I think that this is somehow connected with the political factor as the leader of the country would have its own economic reforms that would either benefit the people in the country or worsen the situation. The economic factor also affects my life both directly wherein I need to be able to afford the basic necessities and indirectly as my parents are taxpayers of this country and at the same time run their own businesses, so a bad economy would worsen the situation of my parents and ultimately our family. For the social factor, this is somewhat important as it includes my family and friends and I would consider this one of the most important factors as it involves people directly and have an important bearing in influencing my life, especially my family.

          The technological factor is the most disruptive factor amongst all, not in a bad way, but in my opinion, in a good way because through technology, I am aware of what is happening in the political playfield of my country and aware of what issues exists. In addition, through technology I am able to increase my financial knowledge, hence somehow increasing my own economic situation through investments by having information on how and where to do it. Technology also enables me to access social media which I see as a communication tool to stay connected and be able to communicate with other people such as my family and friends – as a part of the social factor. Without technology, it would be hard to constantly communicate with people as writing letters would prolong the delivery and receiving of messages. Ultimately, with the proper discipline, technology as a disruptor in every aspect of life has provided me more exponential opportunities rather than threats in my life, as I make sure that there is no private information exposed in everything I do through technology.

         The only similarities between my personal assessment and the documentary says is that technology is a disruptive thing that can literally disrupt anything there is in life, it does not mean that it is a bad thing, rather it means that people who use technology must be disciplined enough on how to use it. The difference is that I am disciplined and have the proper knowledge about the technology, hence I make sure of the information I put out there and am also aware of the persuasive tools used online to encourage longer use in technology. I think the documentary showed more of what I believe the negative effects of technology when a person chooses to abuse something that he or she does not understand.

           I think humans will continue to evolve with technology in the future, to the point wherein our society is mostly technology based and everything we do will involve more technology. I see technology being able to help humans live efficiently and more comfortably, as long as every person knows how to use these technologies and not abuse them.

         Back then when there were no technologies, businesses would put up advertisements in location they have done research in, most obviously they would put advertisements in location where there is a lot of people and a location who lack the services these businesses offer. I honestly believe it is just the same nowadays, but only done through online. It is the businesses’ responsibility to improve their business by doing their own research. These people who agree to terms and conditions to provide data for research were asked for consent, thus the terms and conditions. If these people choose not to give consent, then their data would not be used, as simple as that. What happens, however, is that people are not aware of this because they do not read the terms and conditions and it is on their full responsibility and fault that they do not read such – not the businesses.

         However, I do agree that there are unethical uses for information, especially in politics in targeting voters through their ads like what happened to Facebook and Cambridge Analytica scandal wherein the latter company breached Facebook data and unethically gathered data of other people to gain knowledge about the voters and convince these voters to vote for a different political figure that Cambridge Analytica was paid for to promote and help in the elections.

         Ordinary citizens like us must always read the terms and conditions of what we are using and most importantly have basic educational information about technology – from applications to websites to kinds of software, so that we are aware whether the technology we use is gathering data from us or if it is “spying” on us. The lack of this has caused reckless people using technology, a disruptive and strong tool.

           “If you’re not paying for the product, then you’re the product.” This quote stands true, however does not affect all. Same goes for the quote “there is no such thing as free lunch.” As I have previously mentioned, when using the product (applications), there are terms and conditions upon signing up and every time a person agrees to this terms and conditions, that person agrees to the “payment”. However, a lot of people do not know what they are “paying” for or do not know the terms and conditions, hence, they do become the product.

         “There are only two industries that call their customers ‘users’: illegal drugs and software”. This quote somehow stands true only for those who are abusive in using it. As I have said, using technology requires great responsibility. Actually, everything we do in life requires responsibility and too much of everything is bad. This applies to technology. A person who uses technology must know the limits of it and what it is capable of doing. When a person knows what he or she is doing, he or she would be able to control it. However, when a person does not know what he or she is doing, he or she would lose himself or herself by being controlled by it – which causes addiction.

         “Social media is a marketplace that trades exclusively in human futures.” Obviously, this quote is overexaggerated to the point by even saying “exclusively” when in fact it is not. There are multiple ways to view social media and this quote or opinion would only come from someone who sees social media in that way. For others, they would only see social media as their source of information, for other entertainment, or others as communication, etc. The person who said this quote, without a doubt, sees social media this way, which means the person sees humans as products.

         “The very meaning of culture is manipulation.” As culture evolve, we try to understand patterns of behavior from the past and the present to create a better future. From our first human ancestors from five to seven million years ago to the stone age to the bronze age to the first world war and to the present time where we are facing a pandemic, a lot of developments have happened by understanding human needs and behavior. If people did not understand the need for development, would we have the technology to work right now remotely and continue economic development amidst the pandemic? Would I be able to have access to education right now without technology? Would I be able to create this blog without the idea of internet? The answer is no. I do not agree that the very meaning of culture is manipulation. Because in reality, the very meaning of culture is evolution and adaptation.  

           The pandemic has brought upon multiple challenges in our environment and has most certainly disrupted the everyday life of every individual. Aside from this, one important sector in every country is also disrupted – the educational sector. In our country, the Philippines, DepEd and CHED has been exhausting efforts in ways on how to deliver an inclusive type of education that even those without technology would be able to adapt. Currently, online learning, blended learning, and modules type of learning are implemented to fit the criteria of an inclusive learning system to give the opportunity to learn to every student. However, through time, students would still have a hard time in adjusting to this type of learning, forcing schools to also adapt and innovate their ways of teaching to the students’ situation.

             As a research university that is learner-centered and empowers community engagement, De La Salle University has set out vital strategies, called ANIMO, moving forward during this pandemic. Through these strategies would De La Salle University not only be able to maintain its position as a top university in the Philippines but also enhance its system and processes in offering education by connecting with its students during this pandemic and improve its position as a top university by setting a benchmark for other universities to follow. Among these strategies, Accompaniment and Innovation are most important.

            As per the Strategic Plan 2020-2023 version 2.0, for Accompaniment, DLSU on across all levels and campuses will have its COVID-gen education emphasize faculty-student engagement, practical assessment, and comprehensive support. Moreover, for Innovation, DLSU will innovate by further systemizing fundraising toward campus redesign, support for DLSU EdTech, and the development of progressive tuition and compensation models.

            ACCOMPANIMENT through INNOVATION. DLSU will be able to address the concerns of students on individual assessments and learning by focusing efforts to improve the faculty engagement with students and give out assessments that are practical in nature and takes into consideration the situation of every student during this time. As equally important with education, students also need comprehensive support from time to time. Thus, it is vital that not only would every student learn but is also motivated and maintain a proper mental health throughout the process of learning. DLSU would be able to implement such changes through innovation since it is vital that the educational technology such as canvas and zoom are user-friendly that every student and faculty should know how to use and have access to these platforms. Additionally, in a student point-of-view, one of the challenges that DLSU fail to innovate in is their online platform in enlistment, which all the time since my first year in the university, always fails to deliver and would have bugs and failures causing a mass complaint from students. All the while must DLSU also provide a tuition that is just and fair especially during this time and that learning is done online at the expense of every student’s utilities at home, same goes with the faculty and how they are compensated. Ultimately, by addressing the needs of both students and faculties situation on online learning, DLSU would be able to improve on how it is able to connect with students and faculties and maintain a relationship with them that gives importance to their quality of education and their state of mental health through proper innovation and keeping their educational platforms up to date and providing an objective tuition fee to students and proper compensation to faculties.

            According to its 2020-2023 version 2 strategic plan, the mission of DLSU is to expand research and engagement with institutional partners and industry, based on a shared commitment to localizing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

            DLSU would be able to eventually establish its international reputation and prestige by meeting its mission and differentiating itself as a university through expanding its current research efforts and reach out to both local and international institutional partners to connect and build relationships that would benefit both DLSU and other institutions. Moreover, in helping nation building, DLSU have been active in partnering with numerous industries to commit to sustainable goals that have hugely benefitted remote communities that need it the most. Thus, it is essential that the UN SDGs are actively implemented as a goal in every action that DLSU, as an academic institution, commits itself into. Ultimately, through this strategic mission of DLSU, they will be able to improve their research database and contribute to research data that is accessible to anyone worldwide, at the same time establish and maintain healthy relationships with institutions and industries in creating a future that is sustainable and progressive by committing to and implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

            In my own perspective as a student in DLSU, I see the university with the following strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats based on our current situation.

            As for the strengths of DLSU, the university has adjusted and can deliver online learning and blended learning to students, they also provide students with premium accounts to online platforms that help in online education, and asynchronous classes are also implemented to give time to students to learn on their own free time.             As for the weaknesses, there are still professors that do not comply with the guidelines set by the university – which causes for students to complain, there is still inefficiency with the online enlistment platform (animosys), and tuition fees are not properly justified.             As for the opportunities, DLSU can better understand and communicate with students’ needs, improve their own online platform such as animosys, create a better understanding with the faculty who do not comply, and provide a justifiable tuition fee.             As for the threats, other top universities could offer better tuition fees amidst the pandemic, and other top universities also better understand their students and tend to their needs.

            Based on the ANIMO strategic plan of DLSU, they would be able to acknowledge their weaknesses and improve it all at the same time by utilizing the opportunities given to make their systems better and create a meaningful experience with its current and future students. By addressing the weaknesses and utilizing opportunities, DLSU would be able to abolish its threats, mainly from other universities, since DLSU would then be able to provide a better and just experience in educating its students. With a proper margin of error, the ANIMO strategic plan will be 95% successful in achieving its goals to provide an inclusive quality education.

            With clear and direct objective, the DLSU 2020-2023 version 2.0 strategic plan promotes the qualities that are embodied in the six practical principles for business. As each specific part of the plan would meet the goals of good goods, good work, and good wealth.

            In contributing to common good and meeting the needs of the world through creation and development of goods and services, DLSU’s strategic plan of innovating will pave the way for redesigning and development of progressive educational technology models that will serve every student and faculty. Moreover, along with the mission of expanding research and engaging with communities and institutional partners, DLSU would be able to stay true to its commitment in serving the underserved population or communities that need help – through this the university with its organization strategic plan, they will be able to create sustainable, safe, and resilient approaches towards every action or service that they do. Ultimately, these commitments that DLSU will make through its strategic plan will promote the objective of good goods.

            Apart from this, it is also essential that good work is given importance as it is one of the objectives; organizing good and productive work are also under the scope of the strategic plan that will be implemented through the accompaniment, mission, and organization. By the virtue of accompaniment, the university fosters the special dignity of human work by giving emphasis to student-faculty engagement and providing comprehensive support. In addition, mission and organization goes hand in hand that embraces subsidiarity to contribute to the mission of the organization, in this case, the mission of expanding research and engaging with partners will be able to build on the goal of the organization to embed resilient, safe, and sustainable approaches.

            Meanwhile, the last objective emphasizes on good wealth and how creating sustainable wealth is as equally important with distributing it justly. Through the niche part of the strategic plan, the university commits to expand into non-traditional markets and create a more inclusive education. The university will be able to do this through innovation, which creates progressive development for the educational technology platforms that we use now. In addition, the mission part of the strategic plan gives emphasis on a shared commitment to the UN sustainable development goals – which means that the university through its innovation and mission, they opt to develop services that serve everyone and that is sustainable. With that in mind, they are able to create sustainable wealth. To distribute it justly, it is through the organization part of the strategic plan wherein the university like what it has done with the BITUIN program, they were able to give back to communities and justly distribute services they can offer through their sustainable approaches.

            The objectives of the strategic plan encompass everything that is needed in becoming a great business leader because it guides us, as an educational institution, what we must do to move forward and serve the common good.

            As I reflect while reading the objectives of the strategic plan, I noticed that they are actually traits of a compassionate leader, in this case, it is DLSU. But in my own learning, these objectives in the strategic plan taught me three (3) things: first, innovation is important all the time especially in our world where change is constant; second, having a mission encourages me to think of my action’s impact not just to myself but to everyone and the environment; lastly, sustainable long-term thinking will always be progressive than quick short-term gains.

            Through this, I am able to become a better and greater business leader as I discover my mission and purpose to serve not just myself but also the last, the least, and the lost through a collective effort of other people and myself. My goal to create long-lasting and meaningful relationships with underprivileged communities and help them not just through one-time philanthropic donations, but also helping them help themselves by helping create their sustainable livelihood through innovation and create a better community for the next generation to come.

            My main take away in my own path in becoming a great business leader is to, ultimately, meet the needs of today’s society without compromising the needs of the future’s society.

            As a student of DLSU, I believe that my own voice and opinion on university issues such as conducting of synchronous and asynchronous classes are important because I still am part of the student body that the university must provide quality education to. Along with the whole student body, we were able to voice out our concern which has made the university to propose new regulations in conducting online class and ultimately, through the problems seen in our current adjustment, DLSU was able to create a strategic plan to solve this obstacle. Apart from this, a more unique contribution of mine is by joining and supporting organizations that share the same mission and vision as DLSU does in serving the underserved communities. I am now currently in an organization called Archers Consulting Group, wherein we provide our own personal consulting help to local micro, small, and medium enterprises or MSMEs by giving them optimal solutions and courses of action that can make their business grow or become more sustainable. With that in mind, it mirrors the mission of the university wherein they engage with institutional partners and embed UN sustainable development goals.

I greatly acknowledge other people’s rating of me because it is an honest evaluation on who I am to these people and how they see me. I would rather have them tell me honestly what they feel around me and think about me than them hiding or talking behind my back about what they see in me. I must say that I am quite surprised to learn that others have a positive impression on me, although it was kind of expected because I am always painting that picture of who I am and what I project to these people. In this blog entry, I will talk about personality tests and how I applied them to my life.

I took a test on www.16personalities.com, it is a website that conducts a personality test, specifically a Myers-Briggs Personality test. The result that I got was ENTJ-A. Each letter explains something about my personality. To break down the personality result that I have, I got E, which means extraverted. Second, I got N, which means intuitive. Third, I got T, which means thinking. Fourth, I got J, which means judging. And lastly, I got A, which means assertive.

These results have most certainly and accurately identified my personality. Thus, I agree with the test results that I got because they are accurate, and they perfectly describe who I am – an ENTJ-A person. With my ENTJ-A personality, it is natural for me to take lead as much as possible and when the opportunity presents itself, I step up to it. With that being said, by being a leader, one is expected to act as one that is why I make sure that everything is organized and planned out.

The recommended careers that were given to me strongly appeal to me because these careers require people who can see the “big picture”. Knowing myself, I am that person. I am more of the “big picture” kind of person rather than the “focus on detail” kind of person. With that being said, as a true natural leader, I am always driven to make everything better – from people to processes. One of the top careers in the list mentioned executive. What came to my mind is CEO. As tough the job may be, being an executive means that there is a greater responsibility at one’s actions and decisions that would eventually decide for the company or important decisions.

The knowledge of an ENTJ-A personality type is already a natural business leader. However, not all are successful, and risks are also involved. For my personality type to be a true successful business leader, I must utilize my extrovert side and explore possibilities and meet people to build long-lasting connections. Already at the same time as aforementioned, I see the big picture on everything and see every possibility to maximize opportunities by being intuitive. As always when important things are considered, especially in business and important corporate decision making, mind must always be over heart, which means that logical decisions from analysis are more important than just mere feelings alone. All of these are followed and thus, it is also important to be organized and follow the plans that would benefit everybody.

I answered another survey on https://www.mynextmove.org/explore/ip, this website also conducts surveys to determine a person’s interests under the RIASEC framework. RIASEC stands for Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional, respectively.

The definition of each characteristic in the RIASEC profile is accurately consistent with what I know about myself because I see myself mostly as an enterprising person and the results shows that the enterprising in the bar graph has the most points after I answered the survey. I am not surprised, since this is kind of connected with my ENTJ-A personality type, because with the enterprising characteristic, it is mentioned that people like to work with people and leading and managing for organizational goals. That accurately describes me as a person due to the fact that I enjoy working with people and working in teams to achieve a common goal through managing and leading them to be better for us to reach our goal.

The suggested jobs fitting my RIASEC profile is almost exactly the same suggested positions or jobs that were also in my Myers-Briggs Personality Test. That being said, same as what I have mentioned earlier, it does interest me because one of my strengths is enterprising and the career that fit my interests is chief executive, a job which is in highly need of an enterprising characteristic. I honestly do not think I am ready yet to handle a position like that and manage a job that would have a lot of responsibilities as of the moment, but when the time comes and after lessons are learned, I am sure that I am capable of doing a job like that and be able to handle the responsibilities, since I chose the extensive job preparation.

The fulfilment of my career would come naturally because the suggested jobs have captured my full interest in them and that I would not feel like I am working rather I would feel like doing what I want and being best at it, so I believe that I will have a fulfilling career because my personality and characteristic perfectly fits it.

My level of extroversion as compared to my RIASEC profile is agreeable since I have already found out that my personality type is ENTJ-A, in which E stand for extrovert. Other than that, I am also naturally an extroverted person because I enjoy working with people and understanding them and at the same time learn from them eventually to build connections with them and have a good foundation of relationships with people.

The SelfStir assessment has helped me identify my competencies in the context of family, friends, and work. Through this assessment, I was able to honestly assess myself of the competencies I think that are fitting to myself and most importantly, I was able to ask my peers to evaluate or rate me through the surveys I have made about myself and my competencies. I learned my top fives and bottom fives in each context, and this has taught me what my strengths are and what my weaknesses are in each context, so that I would still be able to improve myself.

One of my greatest strength is I inspire and motivate people through my own alignment to the vision and purpose. I am currently aware of this strength, since I always make it to a point that the people around me improve in every aspect of their life because nothing makes me happier than seeing these people to be better and be at their best. On the other hand, my greatest weakness is that I allow myself to be vulnerable when appropriate. This has been my weakness since it is not easy for me to open myself and be vulnerable as I am always very private on my life and that only the people I am really close with get to know a deeper side on my private life.

A 360° assessment in the workplace is of utmost importance because it would be able to identify and analyze the competencies of each and every worker and how it would be able to help each person to recognize their strengths and weaknesses. Through this, these people in the workplace would be able to improve on their weaknesses and utilize their strengths to contribute to the workplace. The reasoning for this is that when the competency of a person in the workplace is improved, the workplace also eventually improves because the performance of that person who was assessed has improved. 

A true and effective leader knows itself and most especially its own strengths and weaknesses. This assessment greatly helps in unleashing a future leader’s potential since it would help a person know his or her competencies and where a person could still improve on and what strengths the person could utilize. Through all these, an effective leader is made.

It was closely observed that the population of Generation Z lives in a fast-paced world, wherein everything can be accessed through our fingertips with the help of technology. This fast-paced situation that the Generation Z, including me, have shaped us to act accordingly and view things from a different outlook and have different outcomes compared to the previous generations before us.

Given this unique situation that is brought upon the Generation Z, they have developed their own personalities and characteristics that are unique to them. Generation Z lives in a continually developing world wherein there are improvements and innovations being created every minute around the world, which makes every one competitive and being the first one to invent or innovate something new; they do not want to miss out from something that is trendy or something that is new, which makes us up to date with everything with the help of technology. Since everything is fast nowadays, Generation Z, with their built competitiveness, want to move with the pace. However, this creates a negative characteristic of being impatient when things are not done fast or when things are not loading. Along with this, unlike other generations, they put money and job security for their future as their prime goal because surviving and thriving in today’s environment is important for them. Moreover, Generation Z, as mentioned, do not want to miss out on something and because of this, specifically social media, makes them think that they can pursue multiple paths at the same time or do multiple jobs at the same time; 75 percent of them have said that they are interested in situation wherein they could have multiple roles at the same time. Furthermore, the main game changer in the environment that affected and created this new generation is technology. It has affected how Generation Z use technology from their education until to the moment they are employed and how they utilize it in their jobs.

There is enough evidence and research stated in the articles that prove how Generation Z have their own unique characteristic that is fit for the evolving environment around us and how it has changed from other generations. Also, I do agree with it because I am a part of Generation Z and that I personally feel and experience these characteristics.

As I was reading every article about Generation Z, I could not help but relate with the facts and research done for my generation and how these research are backed with logical reasoning. Personality traits such as fear of missing out, technology-savvy, competitiveness, and much more that were explained in the articles. These traits are also observable with my fellow peers since my peers also live at the same era as I do.

It is important to determine what characteristics Generation Z possess because they could be used as guides especially in the educational sector and job sector. Since Generation Z have personal preferences on what they could work with and what they want to work with, since most especially that they always consider having technology to keep up to date with their fellow generation. From the characteristics, the strengths and weaknesses of Generation Z could be derived because important institutions like education can help strengthen their weaknesses and improve them and also further develop the current strengths that they have to fully utilize it in the right place.

As I have mentioned that we now live in a fast-paced world, Generation Z have developed the thinking of always keeping up and not missing out. This poses as a challenge for them to always know what is happening around them and the information that they consume can sometimes be too much and there are instances that other information do not have reliable sources and could be fake information passed on to individuals. Second, since the world is fast, the generation also expects fast results from everything, such as but not limited to, e.g. how fast the connectivity of the Wi-Fi is. Generation Z would want fast Wi-Fi because they want fast information and fast connectivity and when it is slow, they become impatient. Third, they put their own future and financial security as their priority unlike from past generations, they want this because Generation Z was born during the Great Recession and this becomes a way for them to thrive and survive if a recession were to happen again. However, this makes them very competitive in nature and other generations would prefer teamwork, but they would want to work on their own and compete with people who are doing the same job as them. Fourth, the era of technology has fast risen in this generation that is why it is a game changer especially to the field of education because Generation Z would just search on the internet for answers in their homework or questions that they need of answering and that teachers are now just considered as guidance. This would cause problems in the workplace in the future because Generation Z would not go to their bosses anymore to look for answers, but rather have it searched on the internet. Lastly, social media greatly affects how Generation Z thinks and since they can see different people doing different things on social media, they would think that they would also be capable of doing them. This would pose as a risk for Generation Z because not everyone would be able to do that and that taking upon multiple paths at once would just cause confusion for what they really want.

The challenges of Generation Z could be easily overcome when people who deal with them can create a system that would adjust to their needs and wants. In the workplace setting, employers must know how to deal with Generation Z employees that is why according from the article that I read from the Dell research:

First, they should curate and figure out how to provide employees the best and most meaningful range of development while working. 

Second, they should engage and figure out how they (the employers) would interact with the employees (generation Z) and support them and other employees to build compelling relationships.

Third, they should compose and analyze the work that is given to the Generation Z and redesign the work to rightfully fit the characteristics and personality of their generation, so that it would be advantageous for the company to create better value

Fourth, they should activate and let Generation Z know more about the organization and leadership in the workforce and develop programs that would enrich the knowledge of Generation Z to further curate next generation experiences and motivate the workforce to keep on working and create long-term beneficial relationships among the employees and the organization.

As I was watching the film and observing its surroundings and setting, I try to understand the situation present and what the film tries to deliver to its audience. It is focused on two persons, in fact two Popes, who are leaders in the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is an organization because what I have learned from my COBSHRM class is that an organization has elements, and these can be observed in the Catholic Church. It can be seen through their goals, which means what the Church plans to do and what they have already planned to do for the people and its organization. It is also deliberately structured, which means that there is an organization structure that could support the fact that it is organized with the people in the organization and how they each have positions in the organization. As it was mentioned that there were people in the organization, these group of people work together to achieve a common goal and through that they can lead the people towards that common goal. To reach their goal, they must achieve results with the help of people inside and outside the organization. It was previously explained in my COBSHRM class that an organization, in its most basic definition, is a social system. This leads me to conclude that the Catholic Church is, indeed, an organization with its important key element, which is people.

              For the Catholic Church, the Pope is its leader that guides them through the word of God and helps the people realize their true faith for Christianity. Through the leadership of the Pope, the organization can properly propose on what programs that each Catholic Church in every part of the world can do. In the business world, it is different. Through mere observation, business leaders have different ways of handling their business and there are unethical ways that are done to make their business flourish; this is not what is taught in Christianity and in the Catholic Church. Every decision that is made within the Church and by its leaders must still be heavily supported by their faith and through the gospel of God. The similarity that could be seen with the Pope and other business leaders is that they most certainly have goals to achieve and lead their people to achieve these goals.

                Unfortunately, Pope Benedict XVI’s time as the leader of the Catholic Church was swarmed with numerous problems and scandals that made controversies about the Catholic Church and the religion itself. It could be said that the organization and the leader may be incompetent with the way they handled things, but from a different perspective it was just a fast-paced change of time into the 21st century. The Catholic Church entered 21st century with these problems and it was Pope Benedict XVI as the leader and he bravely faced these problems and tried to solve them as the leader of the organization and to also defend the faith and goal of the Catholic Church. Rightfully so, after several of these problems, Pope Benedict XVI decides to step down as the head of the Catholic Church. Other people may think that this would pose as a negative impact and a bad look for the Catholic Church, but I firmly believe that it is not. In his all righteousness, Pope Benedict XVI is right in his decision to step down as he also believes that he could not fulfill what the organization has trusted him to do and as a leader this is a big step for him to realize to do. I also agree with Cardinal Bergoglio’s decision that supported Pope Benedict XVI to step down because he supported him with his decision and just wanted what is good for the Catholic Church and its people. The impact of a leader stepping down from an organization is that there will be a change of leadership and the way the organization will be performing its tasks and goals since not all leaders share the same leadership style.
