* REALM OF DARKNESS : now before you say ‘steph, there is no point finding an answer to a convoluted thing like this series because it keeps flipping and switching its concepts like underwear’ yes, i know it is like running head-first against a wall to try and understand anything but listen; a ) i don’t care, and b ) i still don’t care.
there is always a specific thing that has made me — sorta, kinda — curious? why the concept of time “doesn’t exist” in the RoD, or the way we’re used to. i think the reason is actually quite simple but super complicated to explain. let me go back to things that we keep seeing in environments : so the places are naturally lifeless, unmoving, as though they’ve been ‘frozen’, basically waiting to be manipulated and pushed back or farther, it doesn’t move with outside gravity’s pull of another celestial object like a sun or a galaxy. it even at random times provokes things to act. ( ex: the clock moves quickly forward several hours to make the road ahead collapse, and you have to set it back. ) what the realm of darkness does is defying pretty simple basics of physics: time = distance / speed . yes pulling out the ( disgusting ) equations, but its not too hard to understand, i hope. time is calculated by the distance an object leaves behind, divided by the speed it uses.
we must understand RoD isn’t exactly obeying the laws around, IT IS CRAFTING THE LAWS SPONTANEOUSLY, AS THOUGH IT HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN. it’s a phantom dimension of events and memories coming together in a pile of broken worlds after they experience absolute destruction, and eventually are pulled into a worm hole or even a black hole ? ( time does also barely matter inside a black hole. there, physics do not exist in the slightest. because its bending an object, makes it unmovable once its at its center point since nothing can ‘escape’ it. despite physicists believe you are completely compressed and torn inside a black hole and pretty much “dead”, here in this case you may just not feel the change, you just are drawn inside a clusterfuck being another world with other conditions of its own ), but this dimension is not an object or a planet per se of course. instead, since time is the fourth dimension, and it being one of its own, it may be an advanced kind, so to speak : a parallel plain of existing which can create its physics in its own macrocosmos and microcosmos because the conditions differ greatly. see it as the back-side of the mirror, another type of layer in the chaos of things. two sides of the same coin type of things. what i find interesting is that the entire concept of it always likes to use mirrors. ( aquas phantom, her reflection, portrays the darker parts of her / the surface of water & ocean may be seen as a mirror for the sky, and what it harbors is monsters of the hidden deep. it also seems to mirror certain locations like the beach at which sora & riku return to destiny’s islands, aqua talks with ansem the wise there, and so on and so forth ) it’s super connected to string theory i suppose. but to sum it up, this place is maybe conscious, this place is maybe a life form and constantly expanding via the worlds its consuming. ( maybe some form of phantom to, well, k.ingdom hea.rts itself? dream vs nightmare. )
to go further into this equation. now, this is a mere theory, but RoD seem absolute inanimate. not only the architecture’s are subject to being static ( ex: the water of fountains, parts of a town keep floating around but without being in ‘motion’, there is just stillness, it’s frozen in place ) and because it moves not, it also cannot leave a specific distance behind to measure something, therefore, there is automatically no speed with which it proceeds, hence no time is existent there, hence aqua ages not in a physical sense, but in a sense of her mentality. though it is often debated how this feels then. since aqua ages not a single day , and she has no clue of the passed time, you would think it shouldn’t feel like much, maybe like mere moments, or nothing at all. but i suppose the truth is something else. imagine you just float in the void beyond the earth, watch the globe orbit the sun, you may just not actually know how much time passes there until you return, and find out it’s been ages there eventually, but your own time? it’s basically lost into the infinite until something else moves you, pulls you into gravity. it must be like an non-ending loop. ( “ i walk on and on without end ” ) therefore saying it may feel like eons may be an understatement. ( “ i haven’t felt my heart stir in a long time “ )
so to clarify; aqua doesn’t age because the realm of darkness is an unmovable , un-traveling, inanimate space filled with dead worlds / stars on the flip-side of the light-realm. nevertheless it also opposes regular matter to dark matter; both clashing in equal amount will neutralize each other. it could also be the reason why both can overwhelm the other so easily, and the historical balance was never supposed to last either way because it’s two extremes.
