She’s a nice girl who just wants to help and has a lot of anger in her heart because poor people like her are treated like crap!

I mean… we were all there, right? People threw such a big fit about her mere existence that it actually genuinely changed the American political landscape for the worse (and got her basically written out of the next movie)

She literally didn't do anything wrong. Not in an "my favorite character can do no wrong" kind of way, I just mean it's been almost ten years and I still don't know what those dudes were actually mad about. And she's cute and nice and I liked her!

The shit that happened with rose pisses me off beyond belief to this day actually and I don't even gaf about star wars anymore. The fact that not only did she get such a misogynistic and racist backlash to the point of people harassing her actress but that the films themselves capitulated to this and she was completely absent in the next film. Jean Gunnhildr:

The fandom misogyny in Jean's case is not merely the nagging-mother-ification of a young woman in her early twenties just trying to hold things together, but a simultaneous hostility towards any meaningful discussion of the misogynistic writing that surrounds her. The fandom's victim blaming of a character whose labor has been exploited, and whose role in the narrative has been dimished in order to uplift male characters in her vicinity, continues to make the Genshin fandom as a whole an incredibly hostile place for any kind of meaningful discussions of misogyny within the writing or narrative, and continues to perpetuate cisheteronormative understandings of fandom by insisting that those who like her Must Be (Cishet) Men.

Guy who is normal about Jean Gunnhildr voice Jean is sososososo cool and I love her so much. She's a terrible guardian who sends a child to solitary confinement (being grounded) for blowing up entire ecosystems, because not only is she the only person who seems to (correctly!) think of this as an actual problem but because she's a 20-smth year old who had a child dumped on her, and who sees being disallowed to leave her room for hours at a time as normal because she was raised the same way. She's fully capable of taking down entire squads of ancient war robots all by herself but is overly harsh on herself for being messy about it because she wants to preserve the history behind them. She's one of the first people in the game to talk about the mysterious lost kingdom that is the key to like a good 60% of the game's lore. When she was a child, she was once told that she didn't need to be absolutely perfect in everything she did, so the next few times she turned in homework she intentionally got a question wrong to make sure she wasn't perfect. There's a legend in the city that the first words everyone in her family learned to speak were a committment to putting the city/nation's wellbeing above her own. Her parents went through a divorce when she was a child leaving her and her younger sister with an awkward distant relationship well into (at least Jean's) adulthood. She meets the god she's been worshipping since she was a child, the god of freedom, while he is in a disguise, figures out that he is that very god soon after speaking to him, and keeps his identity secret anyway, only confirming that she's realised when he asks. Her god vaguely mentions one of his tenets in a conversation, and she quotes the exact scripture he is referencing. Her favorite food is mushroom pizza and she's born on pi day (get it? pi day? like a pizza pie?)

Leonie Pinelli:

Leonie is a misunderstood character. She has a relationship with the player character's father and is jealous of the player because she wants his attention. When he dies, she handles her grief poorly and its that moment that is used to justify belittling her whole character and never going on to understand her, despite her apologizing for that AND also the 3 main characters in the game being frankly just as insensitive about the death/grief. Leonie's lack of player ass kissing while being a woman makes her a target for annoying people. People make insensitive jokes about her wanting to fuck the dad character despite her only ever viewing him platonically. And etc etc etc she can never get any peace!

Leonie is one of the most down to earth and grounded characters in the game. She is from humble origins and is rightfully critical of nobility, and still makes an effort to empathize with and befriend the nobles around her. She is surprisingly very good with some of the mentally ill girls in the game, offering them sympathy but still treating them like real people. She apologizes for her behavior when she realizes she was wrong and much quicker and easier than other characters. She doesn't sit around and kiss the player's ass! She is a cool character who deserves better.

Maddie Buckley-Han:

Fandom hates on her for her parents' actions towards Buck even though her parents' actions affected her too. They blame her for "abandoning" Buck because her abusive husband isolated her. More recently some fans have hated on her and called her homophobic or "pregnancy brained" for not telling Buck to call Tommy even though she never said anything bad about the relationship.

Maddie suffered through a horrible domestic abuse situation after growing up in an utterly crazy family situation. Nonetheless she still wants to help others. Also she is a 911 dispatcher who told a caller to kill themselves one time which is just really really funny you have to admit.

people said she was ‘acting dumb because she’s pregnant’ because she told her brother he shouldn't get back with his ex. was called a bad sister because she didn’t speak to her brother for a few years(because of her abusive husband) and because she asked her brother to have dinner with their parents who he has a bad relationship with

Braeden:

Fandom hates on her for being Derek's love interest and reads her actions in bad faith and as if she is evil. There is an extra layer of antiblackness and misogynoir as she is a black woman.

Branden has a super cool werewolf scar on her throat and drives a badass motorcycle. She is playfully mean to Derek and is unafraid of Peter. She helps out Scott and his pack a lot even though she claims to be a mercenary who doesn't care about them either way.

Rashta:

She is hated incredibly for being the rival of the protagonist in the love triangle, having "stolen" her man. Every action she takes is interpreted as ill-intentioned, even though at the start of the webtoon she is a naive, friendly girl. The hate she receives is disproportionate to her actions and tends to be very classist and misogynistic, saying she deserved everything bad that has happened to her, calling her Trashta and excusing abuse of her done by other characters. Male characters in the story get forgiven for their actions which are more horrible, meanwhile Rashta is hated for such actions as smiling or talking to the empress.

Rashta is a flawed, tragic character who has an incredible "villain arc" during the story! She was a slave and horribly mistreated by the characters, which explains her traumas, and also ended up in a very hostile and manipulative environment, the palace, of course it made her suspicious and cruel. Her villainous actions are explained, she behaves naturally and is overall a pretty deep character! Also she feels guilt for her actions eventually too. She loves her children deeply. She was a girl who simply wanted a better life and to be friends with everyone, but got manipulated, abused and let down by people. She doesn't deserve to die in prison, she deserves THERAPY!!!!

The General Fandom view of Rashta is that she's a stupid bitch who doesnt know her place and is incompetent and deserving of her fate. Ignoring that the MC and Good™ Person is the Empress with all the privilege and literally supporting Slavery. The fandom and the MC belittle Rashta for being an ignorant and stupid Slave Girl who " seduced "her way to the top, EVEN THOUGH ITS KNOWN THAT HER FORMER SLAVE OWNER ABUSED AND RAPED HER. The story tries to Invert the Cinderella Trope by Making The Slave Girl Evil and the Empress Morally Grey/A good person even though Navier is literally friends with slave owners and super into supporting the system and just mad that she's treated like a woman (ignored) even though she's into keeping the status quo for others
