He scowls, the furrow in his brow deepening. “What?”

Oh, shit. That did not land the way she thought it would. “It was a joke. I’m joking. I just meant that – you know what, nevermind.”

“No, you—” He still hasn’t moved away. Why isn’t he moving away? “You don’t get to say that to me. You’re saying that you’re not coming onto me because you don’t find me attractive? You’re saying that to me? You, of all people?”
