Ava Renee Bailey

Born 1887 just south of Blackwater, Ava was raised by her father as a single child after her mother’s death during childbirth. Being a local middle class businessman with a heart of gold and a mind of smarts, she recieved a basic education, proper etiquette for her wealth, and a warm home to return too.

At the age of 16, Ava’s father was killed, caught in the crossfire of a shoddy business deal turned sour. The banks confiscated their home and possessions, leaving her alone with only the things she could carry and a sense of lost hope.

Ava knew the streets would never be a safe place for a young girl her age, she had her wits about her to know that much. In return for a life off the footpaths, Ava struck a deal with a local cons artist; Hosea Matthews.

It was guaranteed safety, all in return for some dirty work.

Ava learnt fast. The handeling of a gun, intense first aid. The ins and out of being a lost kid on the run. A modern woman turned expert criminal. After what the law had done to her father and the events following his death, she knew she’d never be one to conform.

Just shy of her 18th birthday- Ava met Roxanne; the infamous outlaw assassin. With a bounty big enough to make you stupid not to chase after it, or even stupider to chase after it, she knew she needed something big. If she could secure the bounty money- there’d be enough there for her to leave and start anew. What she expected to find was a hardened, sadistic desperado; not a woman fighting for her survival- much like herself.

It’s been two years since Ava joined sides with Roxanne, but she can’t help but visit the man who helped her, Hosea. The older man seemingly patching something torn inside of her after the death of her own father.

He’d always tell her she had a home among the Van Der Linde gang, but the daunting size of a group so large always had her edge- plus, she knew Roxanne’s disliking for the name.

Still, Ava visted. Didn’t make herself too friendly, nor too known, but she knew there would always be people among them that she could rely on in desperate times.

And all the while, their own gang was growing.

- Roxanne, also nicknamed Roxy ( @r0xy-w0lf ), the gang leader. She is the constant drive for the others.

- Verai Marcel ( @verai-marcel ), someone Ava recognises from her younger days. She’ll never be able to point where from, however.

- Stevie Carwyn ( @theunholyoutlaw ), a reckless soul too stubborn for her own good sometimes, but a trusting partner to have by your side.

- Cole Harley ( @spartansregret ), the ultimate right hand man. It took some negotiating, most of the girl’s refusing to have a man become an ally- but it paid off in the end.

It’s 1898, and yet Ava still struggles with her fathers death, with the constant struggle that she may very well be fighting for nothing. Her ulitimate fear being that one day the law may catch up to her- that she’d  disappoint her father.

But for now, she’s found a family; a security. A place to call home with a freedoms she’s only just beginning to taste.

The Equines

Da’ Vinci | Sorrel Overo Criollo

Da’ Vinci is Ava’s main steed. The eleven year old stallion found his way to her after Ava overheard talk of a stud needing to be sold due to the closing of a local farm. For a cheap price and a bit of grooming, the placid animal has been her loyal partner for years. Brave, yet incredibly cautious, Ava essentially uses Da’ Vinci for any activity.

Hadley | Silver Tail Buckskin American Standardbred

With the initial intention to be Ava’s second main horse, Hadley fulfilled that role for a certain amount of time, however the mare soon found high action situations too stressful and often turned incredibly flighty. She is now mainly used for long, low action jobs, but can still pull it together and finish anything that is asked of her.

Nala | Dapple Rose Grey Kladruper

Ava’s most recent addition, with plans to use the head strong mare as her war horse. Sturdy, yet fast. Cautions, yet undeniably brave, Nala is yet to let her down. While still young and learning, the mare has a strong drive to do right by her owner, and it makes the two of them an unstoppable team.

Hozier | Blood Bay Thoroughbred

Hozier is a stallion Ava instantly had a soft spot for, with his striking looks and bold attitude. Unfortunately however, that’s about all he had going for him. The young stud struggled under any sort of pressure, not hesitating to dumb and flee. He’s lanky and uncoordinated, often spooking at any given moment, but strangely enough, it made Ava appreciate his dorky persona more than enough to keep him.

ah shit, here we go again, playing story missions

1: When they tap their fingers do they use the pads of their fingers or their nails?

Generally, Ava is a fidgeter and chews her nails, so they’re usally short. She’ll tap with her pads. 

2: What textures can they absolutely not stand?

She hates the feeling of warm water on a hot day. 

3: How long can they go without bathing before they feel gross?

Probably 3-4 days max. Depend’s how dirty she’s getting. Absolutely hates the feeling of greesy hair though. 

4: Do they leave clothes everywhere?

Not really. Her shit is her shit. The inside of her tent might be a little hazardous, but you wouldn’t be able to tell from the outside. 

5: Do they sleep with the bedroom door open or closed?

She’ll always sleep with her tent flap shut unless it’s super warm. In that case, she’ll definitely appreciate the airflow, even if being left wide open does make her slightly uncomfortable.

6: Which do they prefer: 3 am or 3 pm?

She doesn’t have a preference.

7: If they suddenly woke up with animal ears and tails what animal would they be?

Probably a cat. She’s super laid back and kinda does her own thing, but causes havoc and annoys everyone at the most inconvenient times. 

8: If they could only eat one thing for 20 days straight what would it be?

A really, really good stew. That shit would knock her out to sleep faster than any drink.

9: Are they the type to re-read a book?

She has basic reading knowledge, but never really got too into books. She might have held onto one or two for sentimental value, but she’s struggles to find time to read them. 

10: Would they want to know the exact date and time of their death?

Absolutely not. She already worries about death too much some nights. It would drive her mad knowing. 

11: What’s their favourite mythological creature?

Pegasus, or a Hippogriff.

12: If they had to listen to one song on repeat for 100+ times what would it be?

Would That I by Hozier, or Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men

13: Do they believe in an afterlife?

No, but it does scare her knowing that one day she’ll be nothing. 

14: When they get tired do their eyelids twitch?

Not really, she just gets super spacey which can inevitably be dangerous in certain situations. 

15: What are their favourite textures?

Anything smooth. Soft hair. Leather. Cool water.

16: Do they crack their own joints?

She has a dicky knee from an old injury that cracks, but cracking knuckles seriously grosses her out. She accidentally cracked hers once and it made her feel faint. 

17: Would they eat/drink something too hot or wait for it to cool?

Ava would have a taste, realise it’s too hot, then attempt to wait for it to cool by very, very slowly consuming it.  

18: Are they the type to adopt strays?

Only if the situation desperately calls for it. 

19: Do they get work done straight away or wait until the last moment?

She’s a bit of both. Sometimes she runs too quick into situations while other time she’ll procrastinate so bad she’ll miss the opportunity. 

20: How do they bathe?

She’ll be thorough, but generally will stay in her combinations and make it quick. 

21: Are they the type to daydream?

Oh, absolutely! She gets super spacey and definitely mingles with the what-ifs and fantasies. 

22: Do they work best in a messy space or a neat space?

She’ll work in both, but the outcome can be quite different as it will affect her headspace and mindset.

23: Do they keep any personal photos?

She used to have one of her father but lost it after it became water damaged beyond repair. Now, she only carries one that was taken of her and Arthur and a photo of her gang!

24: Do they indulge in anything?

Chocolate. it’s so rare she gets it but by god does she enjoy it, and also a peaceful ride with no destination in sight.

25: Would they do the exact opposite of what someone says just to spite them?

Only if it’s to prove someone wrong, so yes. She most definitely will. 

26: If they’re alone and hear a noise would they go investigate?

Probably not? She sits somewhere in the middle of ‘don’t care’ and ‘if it’s death he’s coming to ME’.

27: If they’re lost what is the first thing they would do?

Ava has a pretty good sense of direction, she’s generally never had an issue with getting lost. Getting stuck somewhere, however, ends up in a lot of frustration for her. 

28: What is one dream that makes no sense but is absolutely terrifying?

She has a reoccurring dream in which her gun gets clogged up with too many bullets during a robbery. It normally ends in a cold sweat, and too this day she still has no idea what it means. 

29: What is the stupidest thing they’ve ever done just because someone said they couldn’t?

“Bet you wouldn’t jump off ____”

Trust me. She will. 

30: Are they stoic or melodramatic about being injured?
