Lets do a proper intro post so my pinned isn't silly stuff anymore!

Hello, I'm Jasper; I kind of teeter between trans man and bigender, genderfluid is the label I use but it doesn't really vibe with me. I'm still figuring this out!! Pronouns I will react the best to are he/him! I may use they/them and she/her periodically but PLEASE default to he/him if I've not made it clear anywhere else.

I am white, my family is primarily English, Scottish, Irish, German and French; my family is also Native American (Muscogee/Creek), but I'm not a member of any tribes and feel very distant from this part of my heritage. I do consider myself very culturally mixed, I will primarily be uplifting the voices of other Native Americans and Indians rather than putting my 2 cents into here.

While I don't like openly discussing my mental health online, it is important to note I have chronic anxiety and am clinically depressed; I am also prone to SPIRALLING into self hate, which my meds are helping with! I may relapse; please tell me to drink water and nap lol

I use semi-colons a lot and have a tendency to ramble, as you can probably already tell!!

Other things I have: Tourette's Syndrome, POTS, ADHD, Autism, C-PTSD (as far as diagnoses go!)

^ Also plural, but this hasn't been discussed with a therapist yet.

I live in the rural American south and I hate it here very very much, send help!

The amount of people I’ve seen say Owen misgenders the character in this tweet is going to drive me insane. “They are he/she,” is not referring to pan!Owen. “They” is the subject referring to the direct object, “he/she.” Owen’s grammatically correct, the phrasing is just ironic

Noo lol I knew I’d regret phrasing it that way. This is tumblr, after all…

It’s not “people who contour are themselves automatically racist” but that the desired face shape created by contouring is one that, at the end of the day, pretty much reflects existing white standards of beauty. A thinner, pointier nose, smaller chin, high angled cheekbones and (on occasion) smaller lips. Also if you’re darker skinned you have to use a much lighter shade of foundation thus ending up with an overall lighter face.

No, you are absolutely correct. In fact it is not even lowkey in the performance arts/entertainment world. I’ve known how to contour since I was 9, because I was in ballet. I was taught by an older Asian dancer who told me that I was already darker than everyone else, my face couldn’t look different too. So she showed me the basics, then left me with a picture of a white person as the goal to emulate.

It’s always been explicit and intentionally racist in terms of what is considered correct contouring technique is to emulate white associated features. Which is not to say that contouring is bad, but it is good to ask ourselves why we do not contour to make our noses look wider and more distinguished. Or why we don’t shadow and highlight to make the face look perfectly round? While contouring is not bad ( and is actually very cool to literally be able to control the way people perceive your face, it’s like magic) it’s good to ask ourselves why we contour the way we do.

I saw that Roscumber and LeonSBU both contributed to the map (and if there are any others, please let me know and I’ll edit this and add them) and I’ve gotta give them all of the praise in the world, it’s all so AMAZING!
