Rachel: Your parents don't have issues?

Rachel: My parents don't have unrealistic expectations of me that I constantly fail to achieve. They just... want me to do well. It's everyone else that has a problem with me, not me with them.

Rachel: Everyone cares what their parents think. Look, Jesse, you're really nice, but I think you're way out of my league, and everyone is going to know it and mock you for it and that's not fair to you.

Rachel: It would mean something to your parents.

Rachel: So? Lots of people are still very 19th century when it comes to their behavior... like when it comes to gay people, or marrying only gentile women.

Rachel: Yes.

Rachel: No. I want you to prove that you'd want me for more than just a fling, because if that's the case, you'd read a wikipedia article for me instead of arguing with me about it.

Rachel: You know what, nevermind. Just forget the whole thing. Please forget I ever said anything.

Rachel: You implied it. By suggesting that I ought to modify my behavior instead of you.

Rachel: Fine. I'll take that as a no, you don't like me enough to bother looking up the summaries of two of my favorite books. That's a shame.

Rachel: Because otherwise none of my metaphors work! Come on, the least you can do for a girl you obviously like is read wikipedia or cliffnotes on some of her favorite books!
