No one even mentions Cas

He confessed to Dean believing that that moment- the moment of finally telling Dean how he felt- was the happiest he could possibly be. Which means Cas doesn’t see any way it could possibly get better from there. He is completely certain that Dean is going to react to this confession with confusion and rejection and disgust and their friendship is going to be ruined forever. 

Cas goes into the Empty happily because he believes that, having had his brief moment of happiness, there is nothing left for him on Earth. 

Which means. 

He’s not going to try to escape the Empty. Where would he go. He’s worthless and he’s alienated everyone who makes life worth living and he should just sit in the darkness and feel bad about himself. 

Which means. 

When Dean comes to rescue him we are all going to get a heaping helping of five-star NothernSparrow-level Dawning Realization and I am so here for it. 

That’s worth him being dead a couple episodes.
