Even though All for a Fortune has been out for nearly two months, and I started writing it back in the winter, this is the first time I’ve drawn the private investigator Alison and her new assistant Lida together. These two are strangers to Ferr’s Bay and have never worked on a murder case before, but that’s not going to stop them from trying to figure it out.

I’ve drawn Margareta from Priestess of the Seventh Magpie again. It’s been a while since I posted my drawings here, but I was in a mood to draw this one tonight, of course listening to the same song (It Ain’t Me Babe) on repeat all the while :)

On a Friday night approaching a midnight in mid-June, Lida Lacelet’s biggest problems are wondering if she’ll get to keep her job and trying not to be late to visit a fortune teller. By Saturday afternoon, she finds herself investigating the murder of a man she did not even know, joining a private investigator who has never before taken such a consequential case…

A year ago, on 12 June 2025, Priestess of the Seventh Magpie was first published! A contemporary fantasy novel wherein Margareta Fontaine, a bookshop employee (mostly) content with uneventful days, is dragged into a secretive cult under the leader’s suspicion of her being a divine priestess and intends to avoid becoming his bride, this book has very quickly become a favourite of my novels. 🐚🌀

My first character drawing in over a month, and it's Dr. Wilfrid Mason, Temple Leader of the Society of the Seventh Magpie. Here he has his special ceremonial dagger, a cherished token from a former follower. But I don't really know if we should trust this fellow with it... his track record with weapons is SO dubious.
