there is something so coincidentally perfect about c!quackity being the one to help c!tommy the most in the recent lore stream. this setup for their new dynamic is literally everything i needed. and like yes he got extra armor from sam, he was allowed shelter with phil, but quackity? quackity had recently been through a loss that changed his character fundamentally for the rest of the series. He’s more considerate, and he’s realizing he doesn’t have to hurt others to gain power as his form of agency. This has already forced him to emerge from the self-isolation he used as a defense mechanism against his abandonment issues. but you know who else infamously struggles with abandonment issues? tommy. and quackity knows that.
quackity not only offered tommy items and sanctuary in las nevadas, but unconditional support. he’s not the man pitching residency to his nation, he’s not a politician, he’s not even wilburs rival, he’s just Big Q. Just a friend who wants to help.
they dont have as rocky a past as sam and tommy, or phil and tommy. quackity has ALWAYS cared for tommy, and tommy has been there for quackity before as well, especially after the whole schlatt ordeal. ALSO. those two being the ones to see wilbur at his most mentally unwell is no fucking mistake; that button room scene formulated an unspoken mutual understanding between these characters about who they are and what theyre willing to protect. Although their identities have been challenged, their arcs similarly circle back to finding importance and purpose in helping the people you love and making sure you leave behind a good legacy, no matter how big or small.
quackitys been through hell, lost so much, and now, finally, after processing betrayals and setting aside reckless self-destructive revenge plans, quackity is ready to help tommy do the same. slime (c!charlie now) taught him that.
and theres no doubt in my mind that hes gonna put charlies lessons to good use.
he is not gonna fail this kid. tommys had a lot of mentor figures hurt him, but not this time. not on quackitys watch. so maybe, FINALLY, tommy’s fierce loyalty won’t be a means to an end. And we already know that tommy, in his own words, “appreciate(s) this more than you’ll ever know.”
