Unlike the majority of her team and the Vixens, Sydney isnât drinking tonight. Wymack said to have fun and enjoy the evening, but that doesnât mean that she has to listen. The party is chaotic enough that sheâs still enjoying it, even if sheâs not drinking. The Foxes might have won something tonightâit wasnât the game. Sheâs focusing too much on the loss and not enough on the fact that theyâre moving on. With how everyone else is acting, itâs almost like theyâve forgotten as well. Next time, they wonât have a choice. Theyâre going to have to win the next time they face the Blue Demons. Itâs almost like most of the teamâs forgotten that. Sydney knows that she should look on the positive side of thingsâand she isâshe doesnât want to forget the fact that theyâve still got more games to play.
Still sheâs not exactly going to pout tonight when theyâre in Chicago and theyâve got a whole city to explore. At least some of her teammates seem to be having fun. Everyoneâs dancing and having funâand sheâs trying to as well. Sydneyâs been dancing with whoever else is around her. Not drinking is making her feel separate from everyone else though. There are a few Foxes that arenât participating in the fun and she knows Sashaâs also somewhere else.
âSoaking up alcohol would require actually drinking alcohol,â she points out, eyebrow raised at Jen as they come up to her, pizza slice in hand. Jen looks like a mess, though it looks like theyâre clearly having fun tonight. Regardless, Sydney takes the slice of pizza. Sheâs not going to say no to food. âYou look like youâre having a lot of fun.â Syd smiles. âMaybe you should slow down though.â Itâs not as if sheâs concerned for them; everyone else is just as drunk and she doesnât have it in her to truly be concerned. Itâs just what someone in this situation should say. âOr at least I hope you packed some painkillers for the flight back.â
âThen just enjoy the pizza just because,â Jen suggests happily in response with a careless shrug, grinning when she takes the slice from them. Sydney is just looking out for them, and maybe they should pace themself more, but they survived a summer in Vegas with Leo, this feels like a small party compared to that. Not that theyâre aiming for Vegas levels during every post-game party, that would be exhausting. Theyâd probably miss those early morning flights.
âThatâs what the pizza is for,â They raise their slice victoriously before taking a bite, âIâm okay though. We get to sleep in tomorrow.â Distantly, they know that doesnât actually mean anything other than they have a little longer to try and cure the hangover, but itâs likely that theyâll still feel pretty rough on the plane. Thereâll be plenty of time to nap though, and theyâre still hoping to try and leave the hotel at some point.Â
âAre you having fun?â Jen asks her, brows furrowed a little in concern. Despite the mood of the party, they donât expect everyone to feel celebratory. Theyâre moving forward, but they still lost.Â
