her name is jennifer takahashi, she has this last name because i personally could never curse anyone with the last name carlton but plot wise it is because johnny chose the first name; in the lineup of jonathan and janet jennifer will fit right in. she was created while i was drawing the blindstar march, one of the themes was "parenting" and i thought: i have enjoyed this relationship for years now, naturally, we gotta move on to the next stage so i took my two favourite characters and mishmashed them into another favourite character. her personality is modelled a lot after younger kenshi (like in snowblind) but both kenshi and johnny in mk1 have themes of honour and loyalty, "doing the right thing" therefore it balances out the insufferable competitiveness of snowblind kenshi. because in mk1 kenshi functionally stands in for sonya, jennifer functionally stands in for cassie, in previous timeline cassie was born right about after the tournament, and jacqui and cassie are about the same age. jacqui being born close to the tournament year holds true in my timeline, but because kenshi went on an yakuza avenging spree, jennifer will be born much later. jax and kenshi are work partners and friends (like jax and sonya were in previous tl) so jacqui and jennifer spent a lot of time together growing up, except because of the age difference it was more of a "jacqui babysitting jenny". in mkx there was a team of new generation fighters by cassie's command with johnny's mentorship, the team consisted of jin, takeda, cassie and jacqui; in my timeline the equivalent of this team consists of jin (unchanged), hanzo instead of takeda (i assume he is a young teen in mk1 scorpion's ending, so he will be the oldest member by the time the team is formed), jennifer instead of cassie (cassie uses firearm but jenny is a sword user like kenshi and jenny is the youngest member of the team) and jacqui in command with sonya's mentorship. i think jennifer and cassie would love each other if they ever met, on the contrary, i think jenny would be very confused if she ever met her half brother takeda because in her tl takeda is her uncle. also takeda from previous tl has telepathy and jennifer (nor mk1 kenshi) does not.
