In Donkey Kong Country, the characters briefly become invincible after bouncing off a tire, but only if the jump button was not pressed to perform the bounce, and only until the next time a jump is performed.

Here, Diddy Kong bounces off a tire onto a platform with Rock Kroc enemies in the Stop & Go Station level, and proceeds to be completely unharmed by them as long as he either walks or stands still.
